Bev and I have not been active in new laser sales since 2007 and no longer need our Show Display which we used at Industrial Shows and meetings. This Show Display is a quality reversible, maroon / blue, display which is very portable and can be set up free standing including storage which is underneath the built in table (see the second picture). The upper half of the display separates and can also be set up by itself on a 10′ table. The Show Display ships in four cases by UPS, FedEX but we carried the Show Display to shows and meetings in the back of one of our trucks or our van.

The backlit Header / Banner part of the display can be easily changed by your local sign shop to whatever you need – a Company Name. Church Name or Organization name. The various packard wording you see on the display are for the Pr ftechnik AG products that we had been selling but they can also easily be changed by your local sign shop. Processes are the backbone of a procedures manual but not always shown as a map. If you understand the processes you can support your users better by streamlining business processes and systems to mirror process.

How do you start to map your processes?

The human element of many processes is not well documented and processes also cross departmental boundaries so it is important that if you are going to map them you get broad representation in the mapping team from all interested parties. If you can get all the “go to” people in your organisation in one place at the same time you will get a very good snapshot of your processes. The more processes there are the longer the job will take but if it can be achieved the benefits are many.

The process maps are also beneficial to the business continuity plan. If there is a catastrophic event the maps allow for processes to run as originally intended rather than temporary staff trying to guess how a process should work.

Processes are hierarchical

The top level process has a series of sub processes. If you were to follow a recipe to make a cake there will be a list of ingredients and what to do with the ingredients but there will be no mention of the process to fetch the ingredients. High level processes make assumptions and detail comes at the lowest level it needs to and in the case of the recipe it assumes the ingredients fetch process has already occurred.


Every business has its methods for getting work done. They evolve as the businesses change and they are people led but today we need to record information along the way, to monitor whether they are working well and to accelerate them.

IT systems should be the framework for these methods, or processes, and understanding the processes builds strong resilient systems making business more efficient and effective.
