What is Business English?

Business coursesImagine you are a Production Manager for a large manufacturing facility in Germany. Your company sells to many European countries and to the US. All of your technical manuals and documentation is in English. Your job involves meeting with foreign colleagues and customers to discuss supply of finished goods and supply contracts. Your common language is English.

The language you use to carry out your job is generally classified as Business English. You know the terminology of your business; you don t know how to cement it all together in a work environment. This is where a Business English course comes in to give you the tools to work comfortably in English.

Business English courses don t try to teach you your job or the terminology of your job. They use your knowledge of your industry and your job to show you how to use that knowledge more effectively.

Of course English language cannot always be conveniently compartmentalised into Business English or General English. In reality you will find yourself in both work and social situations, which is where a General Business English course can be a good choice.

If you would like help in deciding which course to do please get in touch. We are always happy to help and there is no obligation to book a course with us!

Wikipedia says

Business English is a part of English for specific purposes and can be considered a specialism within English language learning and teaching.

Business English means different things to different people. For some, it focuses on vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business, trade, finance, and international relations. For others it refers to the communication skills used in the workplace, and focuses on the language and skills needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, report writing, and a systematic approach. In both of these cases it can be taught to native speakers of English, for example, high school students preparing to enter the job market.

    Business Training Works, ® Inc.

Welcome to Business Training Works, the onsite training provider.

Whether you need customer service, train-the-trainer training, a multi-session program for emerging leaders, or something else related to soft skills, we can help.

For more than a decade we’ve worked with Fortune 500, government, education, religious, and medium and small business clients to achieve their employee development goals.

The core of our work is instructor-led training delivered at our clients’ locations. For many topics, we also offer interactive webinar training available anywhere with a high-speed internet connection.

If you’re seeking a blended learning approach or self-paced instruction, we’ve created a handful of online courses and partnered with a respected publisher to provide a library of online titles.

    ONSITE TRAINING

Our tailored workshops cover traditional topics such as business etiquette, communication skills, cross-cultural communication, customer service, diversity, human resources, management, supervision, leadership, negotiation, presentation skills, time management, sales, training-the-trainer, and writing.

We also offer more narrowly focused courses in areas such as chat etiquette, military writing, GPO Style Manual usage, and customer service for healthcare.

We are not a commodity course provider, and we recognize that no two clients are alike. We will address your learning and development goals on a schedule that works for you.

We can provide you with full-year training programs, individual sessions, conference breakouts, lunch programs, or keynote sessions.

The workshop overviews found on this site suggest course length, learning objectives, and program flow. For most of our clients, these descriptions are a starting point. However, upon request, we can teach the programs exactly as described.

If you don’t see what you are looking for, please call us. We frequently develop new offerings at the request of our clients.

    INTERACTIVE WEBINARS

Some webinars are good, and some are not. If the idea of distance learning causes you to yawn, it’s unlikely you’ve participated in one of our webinar programs. Our distance-learning instructors know how to maximize their allotted time, engage participants, and meet training objectives.

    ONLINE TRAINING

If you require training for an individual or need to train people working in different locations, our online training programs could be the answer. Some of these programs are proprietary classes, while others are available through our corporate training partners. The course overviews for these online programs are listed alongside our onsite training descriptions and labeled as online offerings.

SANS cyber security training is an essential element in the development of individuals and teams that are prepared to protect governmental, military, and commercial institutions from cyberattacks.

The SANS Institute is the most trusted, and by far the largest, provider of training, certification, and research to cyber security professionals globally.

    • In 2015, SANS trained over 30,000 people, including professionals from 91% of the Fortune 100, nearly every US government agency involved in our country’s defense against cyberattack, and their counterparts at our most trusted allies in Europe and Asia.
    • Fewer than 75 people are currently qualified to be SANS-Certified Instructors globally. This extraordinary cadre of individuals have been selected through a rigorous process that tests both their expertise in the field *and* their ability to teach effectively. As a group, they author our courses, design our curriculum, and deliver the training in classrooms and online.
    • The 300 employees of the SANS Institute work diligently to enable these instructors to deliver these courses at venues around the world and online, constantly measuring the quality of students’ experience and learning.

The SANS Promise is that students will be able to use what they learn in class the moment they return to their office.

The purpose of GIAC is to provide assurance that a certified individual has the knowledge and skills necessary for a practitioner in key areas of computer, information and software security. GIAC certifications are trusted by thousands of companies and government agencies, and are unique because they measure specific skills and knowledge areas rather than general infosec knowledge. Learn more about GIAC’s cyber security certifications at www.giac.org .

    Cyber Security degrees and education

Cyber security masters degrees and graduate certificates in cyber security are available from the SANS Technology Institute. The SANS Technology Institute Master of Science degree programs offer candidates an unparalleled opportunity to excel in the two aspects of cybersecurity that are most important to the success of their employer and their own careers: technical mastery, and managerial competency. In addition to the cyber security master’s degree program, the SANS Technology Institute makes shorter groups of courses available to students who are unable to commit to a full master’s degree program. These cyber security graduate certificates will augment your skills, provide specialized training, enable you to earn employer-recognized GIAC certifications, and impart a specialized credential from the SANS Technology Institute that will help advance your career. Participants enrolled in these graduate certificate programs likely qualify for tuition reimbursement if their employer offers that benefit, and these programs are eligible for veterans benefits.

    Computer Systems Analyst

Computer systems analysts are the “big picture” thinkers in IT. Armed with an understanding of both business and technology, these professionals analyze an organization’s current computer systems procedures, and recommend strategic changes to increase productivity, reduce costs and accomplish other business goals. Many systems analysts are skilled developers who design and code computer systems updates personally or lead the development team in a hands-on capacity, while other analysts without a programming background will liaise with software developers to implement changes.

The systems analyst’s prime directive is to maximize the return on investment (ROI) of an organization’s IT spend. Mission-critical activities include monitoring computer system performance, finding and procuring new technologies based on cost-benefit analyses, designing and developing new computer systems, and working closely with users to optimize performance and troubleshoot problems post-implementation.

With a projected growth rate of 21% from 2014 to 2024, computer systems analysts have earned their spot among the nation’s fastest growing IT occupations. Universities and private computer schools offer a range of systems analyst training and degree programs. Compare the top-rated systems analyst training programs online and in your area below.

    • Provide orientation and training sessions to end-users for new and modified computer systems.

As this field deals with both business and IT, some systems analysis positions require a Master of Business Administration (MBA), preferably with a technical focus, such as information systems or technology management. Whichever your learning path, systems analysts should expect to take classes throughout their careers to stay competitive and keep up with emerging and innovative technologies.

Marketable skills to look for in a system analysis education program include business intelligence analysis, technology management, software development, business information systems administration, data processing, project management, business systems integration, risk management and soft skills. Systems analysts should also learn the business-side of their chosen field. For example, a bank may prefer a systems analyst with a background or coursework in finance, while a hospital might fast-track candidates with health care knowledge. Keep this in mind when planning your degree program curriculum and electives. The subject matter in computer systems analyst training works well with online learning platforms.

Nurse Aide Classes in New York

Nurse Aide Training Programs in New York

Successfully completing a nursing assistant training class in New York is the first big step towards a career path in health care. The certification exam is your next challenge. Did you know that the majority of CNA exams are administered in the nursing home or long-term care facility where the candidate received training? A designated employee of the nursing home or a CNA program instructor will contact you to discuss available schedule times and make a convenient appointment for the state exam.

If you work for a nursing home than the long-term care facility will cover any expenses associated with your certification exam. Regional exam sites are also popular for challenging the state examination. If you would rather challenge the CNA test at a regional site then contact Prometric, the company responsible for managing and administering nurse aide certification exams in New York state. It usually takes a little over two weeks for you to receive a letter specifying the date, time and location of a test appointment.

Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.

Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.

Is it possible to enroll in a CNA class without a high school diploma or GED?

Admin on November 8, 2014 at 05:34 PM
There are no federal regulations stating that individuals are required to have a high school diploma prior to attending nurse aide classes but some states such as Florida require a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to testing if you are under 18 years old and have not attended a training program. A program coordinator at the school or nursing facility which is offering CNA training classes may tell you if a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required in order to enroll in the nurse aide program. Some facilities do not require a diploma as long as you have completed a 10th grade high school education. In the state of Texas a high school diploma or a GED is not necessary in order to attend and complete a nursing assistant program.

    CNA Resources

    CNA Training Requirements

There is a wide disparity between CNA training requirements among the states. The difference lies in the mandatory number of total training hours necessary to complete state-approved CNA classes .

While according to federal law each nursing assistant course should contain a minimum of seventy-five (75) instruction and clinical hours, individual states have the liberty to mandate extra training requirements for certified nursing assistants. The majority of states exceed the threshold federal minimum requirements for nurse aide training programs because they are considered insufficient to result in an optimal and safe level of care for clients.

A review of nationwide state requirements for nurse assistant courses has found that the following states have mandated highest number of CNA program hours: Maine with a minimum of 90 hours of theory, 20 hours of laboratory skills and 70 hours of clinical instruction for a total of 180 hours; California with one hundred and sixty (160) training hours; Delaware and Oregon each requiring one hundred and fifty (150) hours; followed by the state of Alaska with one hundred and forty (140) hours; Virginia, Arizona, and West Virginia have a minimum of one hundred and twenty (120) training hours for state-approved classes.
