Our main priority is to establish one outlet in a crowded mall, preferably in one of prominent shopping malls in Singapore. Later, our effort will be a further development of more retail outlets in the surrounding area.

I used to buy those make-up remover cloths. You know the ones I mean, they come in those little boxes and are saturated with who-knows-what chemicals. They were the only things that could remove my waterproof mascara, although it was still a struggle. Well, guess what? Coconut oil is a gentle make-up remover that is totally natural and can even remove waterproof mascara. How to Get the Cheaper EpiPen Alternative

Consumer outrage over EpiPen’s $600 price tag reached a fever pitch yesterday, prompting action from Congress members, including Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who issued a letter to its manufacturer, Mylan, demanding that the company lower the price of the life-saving device.

In a separate letter, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley, citing “consumer concerns,” asked the company to provide justification for the price increase—more than 400 percent since 2007—by no later than September 6, 2016. And Senators Susan Collins and Claire McCaskill of the Senate Special Aging Committee, in a letter today to Mylan requested an explanation and a briefing on EpiPen pricing within two weeks.

We are concerned that these drastic price increases could have a serious effect on the health and well-being of every day Americans, the senators wrote. Even the American Medical Association jumped in and released a statement today urging Mylan to lower the cost.

EpiPen is an auto-injector syringe filled with an inexpensive drug called epinephrine. It treats allergic reactions so severe that some people can’t breathe, a condition known as anaphylaxis.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a low-cost alternative to the EpiPen, we recently recommended generic Adrenaclick, also referred to as an epinephrine auto-injector. Using a GoodRx coupon, you could get it for as low as $140 at Walmart or $205 at Rite-Aid. You might have heard its hard to get, but here’s how to procure it.

Ask Your Doctor for an Epinephrine Auto-Injector Prescription

In most states, to get the low-cost, EpiPen alternative, you can’t use a prescription for EpiPen from your doctor. That’s because pharmacists at your drugstore likely won’t be able to automatically substitute the low-cost version if your prescription is written for EpiPen. Instead, ask your doctor to write a prescription for an epinephrine auto-injector or generic Adrenaclick.

That’s what Adrienne Balkany of Austin, Texas, did after her out-of-pocket cost for EpiPen shot up to $400 two years ago. Balkany carries emergency epinephrine due to a severe allergy to bee stings. Seeking an alternative to EpiPen, she came across a mention of generic Adrenaclick online, and after finding that she’d only have a $60 co-pay after insurance, her doctor eventually switched her prescription to the generic. But doing so required some persistence on her part and several discussions with her doctor, says Balkany. “The hardest part of switching was convincing my doctor to write the prescription because he had never heard of the drug.”

Since Mylan purchased EpiPen in 2007, it poured billions of dollars into a robust marketing campaign aimed at making EpiPen a household name. Last year, doctors wrote 3.6 million prescriptions for EpiPen and EpiPen Jr, according to healthcare data company IMS Health—7 percent more than in 2014. Given EpiPen’s reputation as the leading treatment for life-threatening anaphylaxis, coupled with last year’s recall of its main competitor, Auvi Q, and the otherwise low profile of alternative options, skepticism about non-EpiPen auto-injectors from consumers and doctors alike is not all that surprising. But while EpiPen and generic Adrenaclick are not the same device or delivery system, they both contain the drug epinephrine in the same dosage.

The good news is that pharmacists in more than a dozen states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Vermont, and Washington can fill an EpiPen prescription with generic Adrenaclick—without returning to their physician for a new prescription, according to the drug’s manufacturer, Impax Laboratories.

Yes, beer is food, and thanks to everyone who voted in the San Francisco Business Times competition brackets we not only swept the beer bracket against Anchor Steam, Bear Republic and Russian River, when it became beer vs burger, Super Duper was chomped.

Last night, voting for the final round ended at midnight. It was Devil s Canyon with our 5.000 Facebook and 3,400 Twitter followers vs. Philz Coffee s 58,000 Facebook and 31,000 Twitter followers.

We won by a 2-1 Margin.

To celebrate, we will be releasing our Port Barrel Aged Baltic Porter and Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale to you! They will only be available at the brewery and while supplies last.

    United States. New Rule Ups The Ante For Medicare Fraud Whistleblowers

    Blowing the whistle on Medicare fraud may become dramatically more lucrative. On April 29, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced its intention to elevate the maximum payout for whistleblowers by a multiple of nearly one million. Specifically, the HHS s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it would raise the ceiling for whistleblower payouts to nearly $10 million from the current cap of $1,000. By revising the Incentive Reward Program provisions in � 420.405 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the proposal would entitle any Medicare fraud whistleblower whose tip leads to a recovery to 15 percent of the overpayments recovered, with a cap of $9.9 million. The goal, according to CMS, is to “increase the incentive for individuals to report information on individuals and entities that have or are engaged in sanctionable conduct; improve our ability to detect new fraud schemes; and help us ensure that fraudulent entities and individuals do not enroll in or maintain their enrollment in the Medicare program.”

    The proposed rule �contains additional provisions designed to decrease Medicare fraud, including:

    • expanding the instances in which a felony conviction can serve as a basis for disbarment of a provider or supplier s enrollment;
    • denying enrollment if the enrolling provider, supplier, or owner had an ownership relationship with a previously enrolled provider or supplier that had a Medicare debt;
    • revocation of Medicare billing privileges upon a determination that the provider or supplier has a pattern or practice of submitting claims for services that fail to meet Medicare requirements; and
    • limiting the ability of ambulance suppliers to “backbill” for services performed prior to enrollment.

    According to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the proposed rule is a “signal to Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers, who are on the frontlines of this fight, that they are critical partners in helping protect taxpayer dollars.”

    Many observers, however, are wary of the potential negative consequences of the proposed rule. Primary among the concerns is a potential avalanche of mistaken or perhaps even fabricated claims. With a possible windfall of $10 million dollars, employees will have little to no incentive to pursue internal reporting mechanisms, such as company hotlines. By going directly to the government and bypassing the company entirely, the target of the tip will lose the opportunity to remediate the problem (if a problem indeed exists). And, whistleblowers often have only partial or bad information. The proposed rule provides a powerful disincentive for the tipster to check the veracity of his claims internally before contacting CMS.

    Another concern is CMS is ill equipped to handle the thousands of tips which will doubtlessly be received by the government once the lucrative potential recovery for whistleblowers becomes more widely known.

    A final note: the enhanced award created in the proposed rule is an alternative to a financial recovery under the False Claims Act (FCA). It is not intended to be in addition to awards provided to whistleblowers under the FCA. The proposed rule clearly provides that “an individual is not eligible for an [HHS] reward if he or she has filed a qui tam lawsuit under the federal or any state False Claims Act,” and that the agency will not “give a reward for the same or substantially similar information that is the basis of a payment of a share of the amounts collected under the False Claims Act.”

    It is uncertain whether this proposed rule will open the floodgates of unsubstantiated fraud claims. What is clear is Secretary Sebelius and HHS are intensifying the fight to prevent Medicare fraud and abuse.

    Interested parties may submit comments on this proposal by June 28, 2013.     What Makes Canned Wine Great

    • Easier to carry. Cans, especially aluminum ones, are much lighter than glass so they’re better for taking on a hike or to a picnic. They also stack more easily in a bag or cooler than bottled or boxed wine. And you’ll appreciate their lack of heft when you go to take out the recycling.
    • Stays cool longer. The metal of the can cools the wine down faster, which is great if you’re tossing a six-pack in a communal cooler when you get to the barbecue. Refrigerate the wine before heading out, and the can will keep the vino cold for even longer.
    • Doesn’t break. Cans obviate the risk of broken glass, which is dangerous and can also get you in hot water with authorities that patrol beaches and parks.
    • Bring as much as you want. With a bottle of wine, you’re stuck hauling the whole bottle even though you might not end up drinking it all (I know, I know, there’s no such thing as too much wine, but still.).

    What’s Less Than Ideal About Canned Wine

    • Price. Most of the canned wines I’ve come across are between $12 and $20 for a four-pack of 187 mL cans. A standard bottle of wine is 750 mL, so the four-pack is about a bottle of wine (748mL). Personally, I tend not to spend more than $10 on a bottle of wine because I really just want something inexpensive and decent tasting. So for me, most canned wines are more than I would spend on a bottle of wine, except for the Simpler Wines offered by Trader Joe’s, which are $4 for a four-pack. If you tend to spend a little more than I do on wine, than canned wine is a fine deal for your money.
    • Consistent availability. Your canned wine options will vary by store and where you live. If you live in a place known for wine, like California, you might find local canned wine brands in more stores.
    • Variety. I went to a few large chain stores, Target, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s, to see what was available and had about five brands to choose from between the three stores. Your local grocery and liquors stores may have more options, but your choices are going to be limited.

    Canned Wine Options to Try

    • Many canned wines are sparkling and white or rose (rather than red), since they’re best suited for warm weather drinking. Simpler Wines, Trader Joe’s, $4/four-pack. TJ’s has two sparkling options, a rose and a white. The cans are incredibly light and easy to hold, even with condensation. Very light flavor, great for mixing with liqueurs—try St. Germain or creme de cassis—or drinking on their own.
    • Sofia Mini, Francis Ford Coppola Winery, $16/four-pack. These come with a straw, which I think is supposed to make you feel fancy, but just made me feel like a toddler with a boozy juicebox. Skip the straw and drinking straight from the can like a grownup. This one was my least favorite in terms of taste because it was quite sweet.
    • Presto Sparkling Cuvee, Whole Foods, $12/four-pack. This one is also available in single cans, but the pack is more cost-effective. Very light and refreshing.
