An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with the bomb attack on a London Tube at Parsons Green.

Ahmed Hassan, of Sunbury, Surrey, is also accused of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious injury on 15 September.

Mr Hassan confirmed his name, date of birth and address at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

He was remanded in custody and is due at the Old Bailey on 13 October.

The court heard the bomb, which failed to detonate properly, had been packed with knives and screws.

Prosecutors said Mr Hassan had intended to kill innocent people because of his “warped political view”.

A 17-year-old male who was arrested by counter-terrorism officers investigating the attack has been released with no further action, police said on Friday. Two other males had already been released without charge.

Two further men, aged 25 and 30, remain in custody.

Meanwhile, Suleman Sarwar, of Aladdins chicken shop in Hounslow, said his takeaway has received abuse and threats after an employee was arrested as part of the investigation.

Mr Sarwar said abuse began after the arrest of Yahyah Farroukh, who was not named by police but whose name emerged in the media. He has since been released without charge.

He said: “The investigation brought Yahyah, his friends, family, place of employment and the wider Muslim community under scrutiny and indignity.

“Once again, the community has received backlash and animosity from the public.”

    What s a Green Business?

Triple bottom line company. Mission-based business. Social enterprise social entrepreneurship. Socially responsible investing impact investing. Green business.

Green America s Green Business Standards

Green America awards Green Business Certification to companies and organizations that meet or exceed our standards for social and environmental responsibility.

Green businesses adopt principles, policies and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, employees, communities, and the planet. The members of the Green Business Network are changing the way America does business. What do green businesses have in common?

Green businesses are socially and environmentally responsible.

Green companies adopt principles and practices that protect people AND the planet. They challenge themselves to bring the goals of social and economic justice, environmental sustainability, as well as community health and development, into all of their activities — from production and supply chain management to employee relations and customer service.

Green businesses care for their workers.

Green businesses ensure they don t use sweatshop or child labor. Everyone who works directly for them or their suppliers earns a living wage and works in healthy conditions. They create jobs that empower workers and honor their humanity. They also serve as models for the role businesses can play in the transformation of our society to one that is socially just and environmentally sustainable.

Green businesses protect their customers and clients.

Green businesses ensure that they use the safest ingredients, to keep their customers and clients and their families healthy. They also provide green living alternatives to improve quality of life, with products and services that help in areas like affordable housing, sustainable agriculture, education, clean energy and efficiency, fair trade, healthy air, clean water, and more. And they reduce, reuse and recycle, setting a good example.

    Green businesses improve their communities.

Along with ensuring their facilities aren t polluting their local communities, many green businesses take steps to make the places that they call home better. Green businesses often spring up in marginalized communities—inner cities, rural and indigenous communities. Many are even started by the people in these communities who, in turn, bring respect and dignity to their employees and the wider neighborhood.

Green Business Opportunities in the Obama Era

    1. Consultant. Green Irene (started by PJ Stafford and Rosamaria Caballero Stafford) is an example of a company that was founded to fill the need for eco-consultants. The main tasks of eco-consultants are to point out opportunities to become more conscious about the environment and to provide information on where to procure green products for home and business use.

    2. Energy. One of the fields increasingly gaining popularity these days is solar energy. And although current-technology solar panels are already installed on houses and buildings, this niche remains open for further advances in research. It can be quite difficult as it requires workers to be familiar with solar technology and mechanical know-how. Similarly, there is a high demand for wind turbines to replace or supplement traditional electrical sources. As a result, some institutions, for instance rehabilitation programs, are encouraging ex-inmates to learn skills needed to manufacture and install solar panels on homes and businesses.

    3. Funding. Government funding is normally hefty whenever the attention is focused on an industry in hopes of sparking development. For example, there are various programs out there that afford discounts to companies involved with transitioning from conventional energy to renewable energy resources. Also, websites like the Environmental Protection Agency list of national and even state and local organizations that provide financial incentives to green businesses.

    4. Farming. Organic farms have always been in with the masses. The demand for vegetables that grown without pesticides or artificial fertilizers. Thus, one area that one can look into is in using natural predators to eliminate pests that can damage crops.

    5. Franchises. Franchising is another area where there are incredible opportunities for business. They offer the materials necessary to set up a green business in numerous locations throughout the country. Top 5 Green Business Ideas for Aspiring Eco-entrepreneurs

Green businesses are gaining popularity as more opportunities arise for eco-entrepreneurs to invest in. This business is mainly driven by the demand of consumers who are interested in purchasing goods and services that incorporate eco-friendly manufacturing processes. In fact, most of the services and products being offered today have been greened. Thus, if you are looking to start a business that is geared towards saving water, energy and other resources, you simply cannot run short of sustainable ideas.

There are numerous green business options that you can venture into on a part-time basis and with a small investment. Whether you are interested in a part-time or a full-time green business, here are top 5 ideas that eco-entrepreneurs can invest in and join the green business revolution:

    1. Green App Development

If your preference is working in the technology world, you can still make a contribution to the green revolution through the development of apps that promote a green living ideology through proper waste management and recycling. Generally, apps that offer information on what to buy and how to recycle waste are quite popular.

Green app development is quite promising in terms of income generation as its potential is not about to exhaust in the near future. Besides, existing businesses can also consider developing apps that are branded, as there is room for winning more customers for your products and services as well as cementing their loyalty.

    2. Waste Management/Recycling Business

Recycling is a great step towards ensuring that toxic waste does not end up in the landfills. An electronics recycling business is a great area as old computers, mobile phones, fax machines as well as outdated television sets can be used to produce items that can be used elsewhere. You can also consider offering a pickup service for such electronics and deliver them to recyclers at a fee even though you may not offer actual recycling services.

    3. Manufacturing of Green Products

This is another leading business idea that has continued to top the list of green business ideas. You may want to consider manufacturing vegan, organic or herbal soaps, lotions, shampoos as well as other cosmetics whose demand has continued to grow. One of the reasons why these products are preferred is because they have few or no side effects as opposed to chemical-based personal care products. Thus, you can manufacture different kinds of safe and natural personal care products and then market and sell them locally.

    4. Green Consulting

Setting up a green consultancy is another good green business idea. This is because more and more businesses as well as individuals are looking to go green even though they do not have adequate knowledge on where to begin. Thus, as a consultant you can develop a concrete action plan for them after looking at their environment and making an analysis of the environmental weaknesses and strengths.

Homes and businesses that are consuming more energy than they need for cooling or heating can benefit from green advice. In addition to consulting, you can also consider adding a green event management service where you will see to it that every area of the event is executed in a manner that is environmentally friendly.

    5. Energy Efficiency Auditor

Being able to determine the amount of energy you use at home and sticking to it is a great step in ensuring energy efficiency. Unfortunately, not so many people understand the value of this. This is why you will do really well if you set up an auditing agency that oversees that business owners are determining how much insulation they need, know when the bulbs are due for a change as well as the kind of programmable thermostats they need.

There are endless opportunities when it comes to green business ideas so you need to identify the area that you are passionate about. Also make sure that you are well skilled in your chosen area before setting up your recycling business if you want to make the difference you desire.

Erich Lawson is passionate about saving environment by effective recycling. He has written a wide array of articles on how modern recycling equipments can be used by industries to reduce monthly garbage bills and increase recycling revenue. Green Business Ideas for Entrepreneurs

    Updated August 11, 2016

What is a Green Business and what are the advantages of starting one?

A “green” business strives to have a positive impact on the environment and community. It develops and practices business strategies that go beyond regulation and demonstrate commitment to a healthy and sustainable future (earthshare.org ). German-based Roland Berger Strategy Consultants estimates that the global market volume for environmental technologies will reach a projected $2,740 billion by 2020.

As someone thinking of starting a small business. a green business has two advantages over other kinds of businesses. First, environmentalism is growing rapidly so you will be targeting a growing market. Second, starting a green business can be particularly satisfying as you get to make your own contribution to making the world a better place.

Here are what I think are the best green business ideas for entrepreneurs .

    1) Help them grow it.
    Gardens for Small Spaces

The growing concern about where our food comes from and what s been done to it is translating into increasing numbers of people who want to grow their own food, wherever they live.

One green business idea is to produce garden-paks , small collections of seeded plant trays that would fit on the smallest balcony and allow people to grow their own vegetables.

On a larger scale, as a garden designer you could specialize in rooftop garden installations.

Or you could develop a green business focusing on products that will help people grow their own food, such as greenhouses suitable for residential homes or ecological pest controls. Growing food is one trend that’s only going to. um. get bigger (excuse the pun).

Worm farming and organic compost sales are other green gardening business ideas that might work for you.

    2) Help them cut energy costs.
Solar Power Generation and Solar Water Heating Systems

I think it s a safe bet that the cost of traditional energy going to go up – making green business ideas related to saving energy and cutting energy costs also a safe bet.

Solar water heating systems can provide significant energy cost savings (providing up to 70% of a family s hot water when properly installed, according to some distributors).

Between 2008 and 2011 solar panel (photovoltaic) electrical generation had an annual growth rate of 147%, helped by rebates and subsidies that vary from province to province. The installation of rooftop solar panels and the tie in to household/commercial electrical systems requires a lot of expertise and businesses that provide this service are flourishing.

If either of these green business ideas appeals to you see Natural Resources Canada s Solar Thermal and Solar Photovoltaic Energy information sites.

    3) Help them clean it.
    Eco-friendly Cleaning Products

From laundry through vehicles, things have to be cleaned.

But people are a lot more sensitive to what s being poured down the drain and want to be able to get the sparkle without the environmental strain. One green business idea to help them accomplish this is to sell environmentally friendly cleaning products. This is another green business idea that could work well as an ecommerce site. (See 8 Easy Ways to Get Your Small Business Into Ecommerce ).

Going green is also a great marketing strategy for a cleaning business. Commercial and residential cleaning businesses are still hot business ideas as the demand for cleaning services is still growing. Using only eco-friendly cleaning products in your cleaning business could give you a competitive edge.

Note: Also watch for the commercialization of virtually waterless cleaning. Researchers at the University of Leeds have developed a new way of cleaning clothes using less than 2% of the water and energy of a conventional washing machine.

    4) Help them find it locally.
    Local Eco-alternatives

Books like the 100-Mile Diet have inspired many people to think carefully about where their food is grown and the negative environmental effects of consuming products that may be shipped from thousands of miles away.

People want local eco-friendly alternatives to the products they ve been using. To service this need farm markets have been proliferating in North America, selling everything from locally raised beef, pork or poultry to locally made soaps and cleaning materials. Talk to your local farm market association or butcher store about selling your product locally. (And of course you should read How to Make a Bundle at the Farmers Market before you set up your stall.)

    5) Show them what needs to be done.
    Green Consulting

As the price of energy goes up and being green becomes increasingly popular, more individuals and businesses want to become greener but don t know what the best course of action is. So green consulting is a business idea whose time has come.

Green consultants put together an action plan for their clients by examining their client s environment and analyzing their environmental strengths and weaknesses. For instance, a home or business may be using a lot more energy than necessary for heating or cooling because of a lack of weather-stripping, insulation, or improperly installed HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems.

Some green consulting businesses also offer event management. The green business idea is that the consulting company will see to it that every aspect of the event, from advertising through waste management, is handled in the most environmentally friendly way.

    6) Help them get there.
    Scooters and Bikes

Transportation is another venue of change for many people, whose need to go green is strengthened by increasingly high prices at the pump. Scooters and bikes are a very appealing all-in-one solution; as a scooter or bike rider you get to save money, be environmentally friendly, and, if you get the kind of bike that needs pedaling, improve your health, too!

I have to admit that s not the kind that appeals to me; my favourites are the Vespa and the three-wheeled Piaggio MP3. Becoming a dealer might be the business idea you ve been looking for.

All kinds of electric and gas scooters and electric bikes are going to increase in popularity though. Daymak Canada has a good range of green vehicles, including mopeds, scooters and electric bikes and offers franchises.

If you live in an urban area, renting out bikes and scooters might be a profitable green business.

    7) Help them build green.
    Green Building

Green building is a trend rife with possibilities for starting new green businesses. Construction companies, architects, designers and contractors can specialize in green building. For instance, a contractor might become a LEED certified professional; a designer might focus on elements and materials that are the least environmentally destructive.

And green building calls for all kinds of green products that could become the foundation of your new small business, from water-saving toilets through salvaged wood (and solar water heating systems).

Learn more about LEED Canada (the environmental rating system used as a standard for new construction and major renovations) at the Canada Green Building Council website.

Green Businesses Deliver More Than Profits

Hopefully these green business ideas have got you excited about the possibilities. You may not get rich, and to be honest, you probably won t. But you will have the pleasure of running a business that helps people lead greener lives and combining what you do with what you believe in.

Meet Judge Brendette Brown Green #brown #green #attorney

    #

The Honorable Brendette Brown Green serves as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Birmingham. She was unanimously appointed to the bench by the Birmingham City Council in 2008. Judge Green presides over the largest docket in the courthouse which includes hundreds of cases on a daily basis. Prior to her tenure with Municipal Court, Judge Green served as a Senior Trial Referee at Jefferson County Family Court where she presided over voluminous dockets involving juvenile delinquency, abused and neglected children and domestic violence. While serving at Family Court, Judge Green was also appointed as a Special Circuit Judge.

This tremendous contact with the general public from all socioeconomic backgrounds combined with her call to serve keeps Judge Green aware and on the forefront of many of the problems facing the community at large.

Because of the acceptance of her role as a servant she believes in giving back. Therefore she engages in activities in the community in an effort to eradicate some of the problems plaguing the community. When she is not serving on the bench, Judge Green serves as a mentor to youth as well as professional women through organizations such as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. National Coalition of 100 Black Women and informally. Young ladies mentored by Judge Green have gone on to attend institutions of higher learning such as. The University of Alabama, Northwestern University, Alabama State University, Stillman College, Alabama A M, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Spelman College to name a few.

She has actively served as a board member for the Women’s Section of the Birmingham Bar in a leadership role that has afforded her the opportunity to present monetary service awards, sponsored by the section, to Law students at Miles, Cumberland, Birmingham School of Law and The University of Alabama. Judge Green has worked tirelessly to facilitate education in the areas of voter registration and voter education, equal pay, leadership and professional development. It is not uncommon to see Judge Green at community events engaged in voter registration. She is also very active in the National Bar Association where she has participated in the youth outreach program of the organization. Additionally, she participated in the Preserving Justice outreach program of the Birmingham Bar Association, The Magic City Bar Association and The Birmingham Bar Foundation to teach high school students about the impact and contribution of lawyers to the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham. Judge Green has extended her service to other organizations benefitting the community including; Black Women’s Roundtable, Delta Academy, Delta Academy and Embody Youth Initiatives, American Association of University Women, Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, Vulcan Park and Museum and The Birmingham Park and Recreation Board to name a few. While a member of The Birmingham Park and Recreation Board, Judge Green became aware of an untapped source of scholarships awarded to youth who excelled in Lacrosse. Therefore, she fostered a relationship with members of the community who were interested in Lacrosse and the Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association to introduce Birmingham youth to this sport. As of this date, African American youth from the Birmingham area have been awarded Lacrosse scholarships to: Howard University in Washington, D.C.; Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, Tennessee; Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama; Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia; Pointe University in West Point, Georgia and the list goes on.

In February 2015, Judge Green was recognized by Mayor William Bell as a Servant Leader in the community. She has also been recognized by the Metro Chapter of the NAACP as a Women’s History Honoree. Of all the public service work Judge Green does, she is most proud of her scholarship for Park and Recreation summer campers named in honor of her late mother, Leila G. Brown and a scholarship for college students in memory of her sister, Dorothy Jean Brown through the Birmingham Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. because both taught her to serve by example.

Judge Green graduated with honors from Miles Law School and earned her B.S. degree from The University of Alabama. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Mrs. Henry Brown, Sr. Judge Green is the proud mother of two adult daughters, one granddaughter and one grandson. She is a faithful member of The Worship Center where she serves in the Prayer Ministry.

Penn State debuts online renewable energy and sustainability systems degree

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Interest in renewable energy is growing worldwide and so are jobs in this field, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s green economy occupations database. Penn State, which is ranked first among universities engaged in alternative energy research by Elsevier Publishing. is bringing together faculty from multiple academic units to help train renewable energy leaders and will launch an online master’s degree in renewable energy and sustainability systems starting this fall.

“The new Intercollege Master of Professional Studies in Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems (iMPS-RESS) is designed to prepare professionals to lead the world’s transformation from an unsustainable, fossil energy economy to a renewable, sustainable basis of operation,” said Ali Demirci, professor of agricultural and biological engineering and iMPS-RESS academic program chair.

Academic units involved in this program include the colleges of Agricultural Sciences (lead academic unit), Earth and Mineral Sciences (lead administrative unit), Engineering and the Liberal Arts; and the departments of agricultural and biological engineering, aerospace engineering, architectural engineering, chemical engineering, ecosystem science and management, energy and mineral engineering, marketing and plant science. Penn State’s World Campus will deliver the degree online.

Daniel Ciolkosz, academic program coordinator for iMPS-RESS, said, “This program is focused on giving students the technical expertise and advanced project management skills they will need to effectively create or manage successful renewable and sustainable energy systems. Options in bioenergy, sustainability management and policy, solar energy and wind energy will allow students to tailor the degree to their career goals.”

The program will provide students with foundational knowledge in renewable energy and sustainability systems. It includes one course on energy markets, policy and regulation. Students also will complete a management and design project. Program options will provide specialized, technical knowledge.

“We are very excited about this new degree,” said Ann Taylor, director of the John A. Dutton e-Education Institute, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, and administrative program manager for iMPS-RESS. “We are creating a virtual program office to provide a single point of contact for students and developing a unified learning design for courses to give students a consistent experience.”

Small Green Business Ideas to Jumpstart Your Cottage Industry

Going home-based can have a lot of benefits, not the least of which is the chance to turn it into a small green business. When someone says green, there are often a lot of misconceptions. The perception is that it would be expensive or large-scale, something better suited for a large corporation. However, the reality is that there are a number of small green business ideas that don t require multi-million dollar starting capital or big business performance capability.

The big players when it comes to making soaps are large manufacturers that have the resources to spend heavily on manufacturing and advertising. However, that doesn t mean that a home-based small green business dedicated to it can t find a niche to succeed in. Eco-friendly soap-making is relatively simple to do from the average home and has the potential to generate a decent income.

Crucial to succeeding at this are the following:

    * A niche product that matches a niche clientele

    * Creative approaches, such as shaping soap like animal characters or using bright colors

    * Starting locally before slowly expanding both production and operations over time

This doesn t come up often when talk of small green business ideas happens, but it should. Business will pay money for the advice of an expert, even if they don t want to have the expert under their formal employ. Consultancy is basically the art of selling experience and know-how to companies that need it. People who know a trade or field better than anyone else can make a good income from being a consultant while also having very little actual environmental impact.

    Old Tire Recycling

This small green business idea requires a bit of creativity. The number of tires that cars around the world go through every year is staggering. Some of them can end up being recycled, but a lot of them are just going to end up somewhere unused and ignored. A business focused on making all sorts of creations out of old tires needs creativity, but it can appeal to people and grab a market for itself. Here are a few examples on the creative uses for old tires.

    Custom Lamps and Lampshades

This is another potential small green business idea that requires creativity. The basic idea is to turn random trinkets and items into a lamp or other light fixture. A creative eye and a touch for designing things are part and parcel of this type of business. For the most part, all that s needed in terms of materials are a little capital and simple tools.

For this small green business idea, all that s needed are creativity, a sewing machine and some old clothes to work with. Torn jeans, old rags, shirt that don t fit anymore all of that can be recycled and turned into something new with a little elbow grease and a lot of creativity.

Small green business ideas aren t something that everyone comes up with, but that doesn t mean there s a shortage of them. Green business ideas also aren t as expensive as most people think. In many ways, they can be very cost-effective and have as much potential to be profitable as anything else.

8 Things You Didn – t Know You Could Do With Coconut

    #

You probably have a jar of unrefined, extra-virgin coconut oil in your kitchen; I know I do. Coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils to use for cooking and baking. It’s made up of medium chain triglycerides which, unlike the long chain triglycerides of animal fats, are metabolized more quickly in the body. That means increased fat burning potential. Coconut oil boosts energy levels, raises good cholesterol, and balances blood sugar. Coconut oil has a high smoke-point which means you can use it for cooking with high temperatures and it won’t break down into harmful compounds. Coconut oil is also great for baking; use it in place of any oil or butter listed in a recipe.

But did you know that you should also have a bottle of coconut oil in your bathroom, your bedroom, the nursery and even the dog house? Ok, if you’re like me, your whole house is the dog house, but you know what I mean. Coconut oil has so many uses for every aspect of your life cooking, health, medicinal care, beauty care, hygiene, pet care and even those intimate moments. That’s right, coconut oil has properties that are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial and anti-almost everything else. It’s an immune system’s dream. It’s amazing that one product, especially one that is completely natural and chemical-free, can do so much. Here are just eight of the many ways you can use coconut oil in ways other than cooking.

    1. Face and Body Moisturizer

Got dry, flaky, chapped skin? Get a bottle of coconut oil. You can use coconut oil on your face and body as a natural moisturizer. It’s able to penetrate all the layers of your skin and because it gets absorbed so well, coconut oil won’t leave your skin feeling oily and greasy. Coconut oil boosts collagen production, so it strengthens underlying tissues and helps prevent wrinkles. Rub it in all over your body by itself or mix in some essential oils for a soothing, aromatherapy experience. Use it on your face instead of those high-priced moisturizers you buy at the drugstore. Coconut oil is gentle enough to use around your eyes and is perfect for keeping your lips soft, smooth and kissable.

    2. Body Scrub

Take a bottle of coconut oil into the bath or shower with you and use it as a body scrub. You can use it as is or mix the coconut oil together with an equal amount of sugar or baking soda to turn it into an exfoliating experience. Gently scrub your body with it to remove rough and flaky, dry skin. Your body will not only be soft and smooth but it will be glowing.

    3. Oral Hygiene

Have you heard about this trend called “oil pulling ?” It may be a current trend right now, but it is actually an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique also known as “kavala” or “gundusha.” Basically, you put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth on an empty stomach and swish it around for 20 minutes. You then spit it out into the trash (it can clog the drain). The purpose is to draw out toxins from your body, improve oral health, and it’s even said to help headaches, hangovers and insomnia. How does it do this? Apparently, our bodies store toxins in our salivary glands, which get drawn into the oil. When we spit out the oil, we also spit out the toxins. While there seems to be more anecdotal than scientific reports, some people really think it helps. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of coconut oil can definitely benefit one’s oral hygiene. Coconut oil contains vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant and makes it an effective, natural mouthwash. You can also use it as toothpaste by mixing the coconut oil with some baking soda. Whiter teeth and healthier gums await you.

    4. Make-Up Remover

I used to buy those make-up remover cloths. You know the ones I mean, they come in those little boxes and are saturated with who-knows-what chemicals. They were the only things that could remove my waterproof mascara, although it was still a struggle. Well, guess what? Coconut oil is a gentle make-up remover that is totally natural and can even remove waterproof mascara. Just put some coconut oil on a cloth or cotton ball, gently wipe your make-up off and then rinse your face clean.

    5. Hair Conditioner

Every notice how many hair conditioners have coconut oil in them? Just as coconut oil can penetrate layers of skin, it can also penetrate hair. Use it as a deep conditioner that you leave on your hair for an extended time to moisturize it. You can rub it into your hair as is or you can heat the oil to melt it into a liquid – just be sure to let it cool off first. Leave it on your hair anywhere from 20 minutes to overnight. Then wash and style your hair as usual. Your hair should be soft, silky and shiny.

    6. Pet Health

As long as you’re making your coat all soft and shiny, why not do the same for your fur baby? I give my dog, Benny, a spoon of coconut oil mixed into his food every day. It improves the health of his skin and coat. Coconut oil can also aid pets’ digestion, joint health and improve their breath. In addition to feeding coconut oil to our cats and dogs, it also has benefits when applied topically. Brushing some coconut oil into a dog’s coat can also ward off fleas. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of coconut oil make it good for disinfecting cuts, soothing rashes and hot spots and promoting healing of wounds.

    7. Heal Cuts, Sunburns and Rashes

People get rashes and hot spots too, and coconut oil can help. Since coconut oil promotes collagen production, it can help repair skin cells, meaning our cuts and rashes will heal faster. The antibacterial properties make coconut oil ideal for preventing infection in small cuts and lacerations. Use it on your skin to help sooth sunburn and prevent peeling.

As it is a natural moisturizer, coconut oil, together with a drop or two of lavender oil, will heal your burns so that your skin doesn’t peel. Use daily on your skin, and it will heal in just a fraction of the time that you were used to. Coconut oil promotes collagen production and repairs the skin cells. It’s also a gentle and natural way to soothe a baby’s diaper rash and make their tushies smell like coconut. Win-win.

    8. Massage Oil and Personal Lubricant

When it comes to getting personal, coconut oil is a natural option you might want to consider. Its ability to penetrate skin and provide all that vitamin E makes it a wonderful massage oil. And since coconut oil is solid at room temperature, it is way less messy than liquid oils. However, you can heat the coconut oil for a warm, liquid massage oil that smells like the tropics. Coconut oil can also be used as a personal lubricant since it is completely natural with no parabens, petroleum, glycerin or chemicals. Added bonus: coconut oil won’t stain the sheets.

Whew! These are just 8 ways in which you can use coconut oil in your life, and that’s just skimming the surface. I didn’t even get to using it as furniture polish. Go out and get yourself some unrefined, extra-virgin coconut oil and discover all the ways it can benefit you. Check out “5 Amazing DIY Hacks with Coconut Oil ” for video instruction. Quality Control Program

Our Green Quality Control Program for the Client consists of a three-step approach:
    1. Daily, Weekly, Monthly Cleaning Checklist
Upon evaluation of the facility’s requirements, traffic and Client’s preferences, we will create a daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklist to be implemented by the Client’s in-house cleaning staff.
The cleaning checklist will be evaluated every month and updated as necessary to incorporate any changes in the facility’s requirements and traffic.
The cleaning checklist allows the front-line cleaning staff to organize and complete their tasks, and check over their work through manual daily records, which leads to greater accountability and higher consistent cleaning quality.

    2. Regular and Unscheduled Inspections
Based on the facility’s requirements and traffic, GreenAir will perform one (1) regular, scheduled inspection per month and one (1) unscheduled inspection per month.
Our inspection form is a numerically graded survey that puts greater value into certain areas by weighting those areas, based on the facility’s requirements and traffic.
The inspection allows for a back-end supervisor to objectively inspect and grade the facility for appearance and quality.
The inspection is discussed with the Client’s in-house cleaning staff, any minor deficiencies are identified and addressed, and any larger issues are submitted for a corrective action report.

    3. Corrective Action Reports
Corrective action reports are initiated when areas are severely lacking in appearance or quality and are addressed immediately with the cleaning staff.
Corrective action reports are filed with reference pictures following an inspection if any area of the facility scores below our acceptable benchmark, and given to the respective cleaning staff.

    Employee Training Program

GreenAir Cleaning will perform on-site training sessions lasting one (1) hour for the Client’s in-house cleaning staff as necessary.
The training sessions will address minor deficiencies found in previous inspections and larger issues found in the corrective action reports.
The training sessions will go over any new cleaning methods or techniques for the facility.
Employee training sessions will consist of employee education through techniques and methods and hands-on cleaning demonstrations.

    Cleaning Reports

GreenAir Cleaning Systems will provide a scheduled report to the Client, detailing inspections, training sessions, changes to checklists, and cleaning consulting recommendations.

8 Green Small Business Ideas Opportunities

If you re looking for ways to earn some extra money, you might want to think about starting a green side business.

Not only is having a green business a great way to set yourself apart from your competition, but it also makes you more memorable in the minds of your potential customers.

So what exactly is a green business, you ask? Here are 8 examples you can start with right away.

    Go Green Small Business Ideas

    1. Get into Worm Farming

I m really into vermicomposting. If you are too, then you could start a side business selling your compost, and your worms, to gardeners and fisherman. Compost, especially organic compost, is really expensive to buy in home improvement stores. Your neighborhood gardeners would love to pay a cheaper price for your compost, though!

You could also hold classes and teach others how to get into vermicomposting.

    2. Make Organic Soap

Making soap isn t as hard as a lot of people think. This is a side business I m thinking of starting myself this summer, and I ve already started researching on what I need to get it going.

The cool thing about homemade soap is that you can make it really unique. For example, you can make goat s milk soaps, organic soaps, herbal soaps, aromatherapy soaps the world is your oyster! You can sell your homemade soaps at farmers markets, crafts fairs, and online through marketplaces like Etsy and eBay .

    3. Create Organic Gardens for Small Spaces

Thanks to the down economy, and an increasing concern about food safety and pesticide use, more and more people are getting into home gardening. But, it can be overwhelming, especially to those who have never started seeds from scratch or tried to pick out vegetables to grow.

You could build an awesome side business by doing all of this work for them. You could sell garden packs prepared for beginners, especially those who want to get into container gardening. If you have a green thumb and love planting, this would be a fun and rewarding side business to get into.

    4. Become a Green Consultant

You ve probably heard time and time again that going green often means you save green. The savings can be significant, especially for businesses and corporations.

Green consultants are popping up everywhere. These consultants do a thorough evaluation of a home or business, and then put together a strategy to help people find ways to go green and save money.

For instance, you might discover a homeowner is losing a lot of energy because she doesn t have enough insulation in the attic and her weatherstripping is shot. You ll help purchase green energy technologies that help them save energy, start a recycling program. and be more efficient in general.

One way to get started is to check out Green Irene Eco Consultants. For $350, you get a full online training package, as well as plenty of support and materials to help you start your eco consulting business.

Some technical schools and adult education classes will also teach you how to be a green consultant. Or, you could also go the DIY route, and study on your own.

    5. Make Soy or Beeswax Candles

Did you know that traditional candles often release harsh or even toxic chemicals into the air? Soy and beeswax candles are natural, especially when they re scented with essential oils. They also burn slower and purer than paraffin wax, and they don t leave any smoke residue on your walls or in your ventilation system.

If you love candles, then making soy or beeswax candles could be a fun way to earn some extra cash on the side. You can sell your candles online at Etsy or eBay, or at your local farmers market.

    6. Start a Community Lending Library

Are you one of those people who have every tool ever invented? Or, do you have a movie collection to rival Netflix ?

If so, you could be earning money on the side by renting those items out. Small, community lending libraries are popping up all over the country. Some of them are free, but others are subscription services. Items are loaned out locally, usually within one neighborhood or a certain mile-radius.

Why is this a green business? Well, imagine you need a powerwasher for a day. Some people go out and buy one. But if you know you can rent your neighbor s powerwasher for cheap, then you ll do this instead of dropping $100 or more on your own. Lending libraries help reduce consumption, as well as helping your friends and neighbors save money.

    7. Get into Green Crafting

One of my most treasured possessions is a fabulous, elfin-like coat I got on Etsy. The coat is 100% handmade entirely from recycled sweaters. It s incredible.

Green crafting has huge appeal for people, and you can make an incredible living selling upcycled art, clothing, and jewelry. For instance, the woman I bought my coat from sells each one for $250-$400. She s had over 3,300 sales, just on Etsy. And her coats sell out within seconds after she puts them up.

Another artist I know takes brightly colored vintage Tupperware containers and turns them into amazing lamps and light fixtures. Another artist takes sea glass she finds on the shore and turns it into beautiful, minimalist jewelry.

There are tons of creative and unique ways to upcycle something old into something new. If you re lacking ideas, then surf Etsy to look for ideas, or head over to sites like Instructables or ReadyMade. both of which are full of ideas.

    8. Goat Rentals

Think I m kidding here? I m not. If you have enough land to support a small herd of goats, you could be making some easy side money. Why would someone want to rent a goat?

Here s a personal story. My family s farm in Louisiana sits right up against a bayou that s thick with poison ivy, snakes, and mosquitoes. The dense brush also attracts plenty of deer and other wildlife, which attracts the local black bears. Because of the denseness of the trees, it s really hard to get in there to clear the brush out with the tractor.

So what s my dad going to do? Hire out a herd of goats to clean it up, of course.

Goats eat anything: poison ivy, bushes, brambles you name it. And they re amazing for clearing out places like the bayou, or steep slopes you can t get a mower down. All you have to do it set up a portable fencing and let them eat their way through the brush over several days. The best part is that unlike a tractor or lawn mower, goats don t harm the environment.

    Final Word

10 Green Business Ideas for Eco-Minded Entrepreneurs

Are you considering to start your own business but are concerned about the impact it will have on the environment? Green businesses are ecofriendly, and they go beyond the regulations to show their commitment to sustainable development. You do not need any particularly brilliant new idea. What is more, most of the green businesses are alternatives of the standard businesses, but with a nature-conscious management and production processes. Check out the following green business ideas.

    1. Green Business Ideas Organic farming

While businesses are going green, so are their customers. Everyone nowadays is switching to healthier lifestyle choices, and this particularly concerns the food they consume. The effect of this is that organically grown vegetables and fruits are highly sought, and this trend is sure to continue in the future. The market for these products is very developed, so you will have no trouble finding buyers. What do you need to start this business? A piece of land and love for outdoor work.

    2. Organic menu restaurant

If you do not want your hands to get dirty, but still wish to take your piece of the pie in the ongoing healthy-eating trend, why not be on the other side of the transaction? Open a restaurant that would serve only organic meals, made from organic ingredients that you would be buying from organic farmers.

    3. Green construction

Become a green contractor. Green construction simply means construction with eco-friendly materials and incorporation of energy saving systems, such as solar heating.

    4. Recycling pickup

Recycling is also very popular these days. But no matter how determined people are to recycle, there is always the problem of what to do with bulk trash, like computers and house appliances, once you no longer need them. If you want to start a recycling pickup service, take a page out of the book of Sydney s rubbish removal services. for e-waste. It is a very lucrative business, yet in deficit.

    5. Green developer

Develop applications that will help people help the earth. These can be simple guides to local green stores, or complex energy consumption calculators.

    6. Green consulting

If you are familiar with green technologies and standards, you can easily become a consultant to other businesses on ecological issues. Help other people start a green business, or turn their current business into a more environmentally friendly one. This consulting can involve anything from efficient energy consumption to sustainable production. Get certified to gain more credibility among customers.

    7. Upcycle

Furniture upcycling has quite a hipster vibe. Take any piece of old, unused furniture and repurpose it in an unusual and preferably unexpected way. All you need is some tools and a few original ideas. Once you clear your attic and basement of all the unused furniture, you will find that flea markets are a great place to find new ‘raw materials’.

    8. Green blogs

If you like writing, and like to work from home, start a blog. But not just any kind of blog. Start a green blog that will promote green activities.

    9. Bicycle business

Bicycles are the most eco-friendly means of transport there is. They emit no gas into the atmosphere and so do not pollute the air. Buying and reselling bicycles has become a huge part of the green revolution. Consider participating in it. You can also open a small local bicycle café where you will sell drinks, while you are repairing your customers’ bicycles. Take tourists to bicycle sightseeing tours of your town, or your neighbourhood.

    10. Eco-cleaning

Start a cleaning services company which will use your own natural house cleaning products. Make more money by selling these products to households and other cleaning service companies.

What green business do you see yourself managing?

    The Pitfalls Of Solar Leasing Programs #citigroup,green #energy,solar #power,solar #energy,solar #panels,solar #city,solar

The Pitfalls of Solar Leasing Programs

    NOW THIS IS HAPPENING

Global financial services giant Citi and Solar City. a California-based leader in solar power systems and services, have joined forces to make residential solar power more viable. The two companies recently announced that $40 million in funding has been earmarked for expansion of a residential leasing program that allows homeowners to install solar panels without an upfront investment. The step is one of many initiatives Citi is partaking in to reinforce its dedication to greener causes. According to the official release, the global financial services leader is in the midst of a 10-year, $50 billion initiative to support the commercialization and growth of alternative energy and clean technology in markets around the world.

The program is called Solar Lease, and it currently has 7,000 participating customers across California, Oregon, and most recently, Maryland and Washington DC. (The program is called PurePower in some regions.) The funding will allow for further expansion of the program.

SolarCity touts the main benefit of the program is that it allows homeowners to obtain the immediate financial impact of solar energy, because it does not require homeowners to put any money down. According to the company s website, payments can be as low as $20 per month in some areas.

But while it s a nice thought that the companies are joining forces to make the world a better place, is solar leasing really as great as it sounds? Not according to the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI). While the group concurs on some positive aspects of solar leasing programs, the system is not without its flaws.

For example, the lowered commitment of leasing allows for experimentation without risk. If after trying solar panels a homeowner chooses to return to grid power, the cost of removing the solar panel system is far less than if the system was bought outright. It also removes a lot of hassle. In a leasing situation, the solar company typically makes the installation process turnkey, handling issues that arise with permits, engineering, financing.

But NACHI also points out that in solar leasing, the homeowner misses out on federal tax credits and state incentives associated with the use of solar panels. Likewise, no one knows what grid power will cost years from now, so whether you will really save still involves guesswork.

Currently, there is an increased focus on solar energy at the federal level. As incentives for using solar energy became more appealing, the technology is sure to improve. That means you could be stuck with less-than-stellar solar power technology just a few years from now. Further, if you move or your renters aren t too fond of the idea, you must either pay to terminate the lease contract, transfer it to a new homeowner, or pay the costs associated with removing and reinstalling the panels on a new home.

Jeep Wrangler Diesel To Come Well Before Wrangler Hybrid

2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 75th Anniversary edition

Of necessity, the next-generation Jeep Wrangler will have a greater focus on fuel efficiency than any previous version.

To meet stricter emissions standards, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) plans significant increases in the efficiency of the iconic off-roader.

In fact, both diesel and hybrid powertrains are likely to be part of an upcoming redesign.

Both were mentioned as part of an updated FCA five-year plan. according to Automotive News (subscription required).

The plan calls for a diesel engine option to be introduced some time after the next-generation Wrangler debuts in 2017, with a hybrid arriving well after that.

    Jeep Wrangler Level Red

The diesel is expected to be offered only on the four-door Wrangler Unlimited model, now the highest-volume version.

It will appear at an unspecified date between the new Wrangler’s launch and 2022. The diesel will precede the hybrid “by several years,” according to the FCA plan.

The Wrangler hybrid will actually be a 48-volt mild hybrid, one of several FCA reportedly plans to introduce beginning in 2018 to help meet emissions standards.

In addition to the Wrangler, the Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck will also reportedly get the mild-hybrid option.

Chrysler has shown little interest in hybrids in the past, but fuel-economy standards may force it to embrace them.

Updated Fiat Chrysler product and financial presentation for 2014-2018, released in Jan 2016

Most of the company’s lineup will be hybrids by 2025, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said late last year–a somewhat surprising change of heart over his previous statements.

Marchionne previously said that no carmaker will have trouble meeting emissions standards, although FCA previously hoped to lean more heavily on diesels to boost its efficiency.

Marchionne maintains that the ongoing Volkswagen emissions scandal won’t have a major impact on U.S. diesel sales.

But it may have caused FCA to have second thoughts about a large fleet of diesels. So going forward, it seems diesels and hybrids will be sold side by side in FCA showrooms.

    2016 Jeep Wrangler

For now, though, neither will be particularly common.

The only diesels FCA currently sells in the U.S. are versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500, which both use the same “EcoDiesel” 3.0-liter V-6.

At the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the company also unveiled the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivan.

Boasting 30 miles of electric range, the Pacifica Hybrid is expected to go on sale later this year, in at least limited numbers.

A great franchise area to focus on is in energy auditing, which shows how to reduce consumption in an eco-friendly manner and examines energy practices of businesses.

Although some of the business opportunities are fit for large-scale operations, this list goes to show that there are still tremendous green business opportunities for small business owners and one-person operations.
