The High Yield Bond Market Has Never Been This Decoupled From Reality

Recovery rates in 2016 are extremely low.. for high-yield bonds, the recovery rate YTD is 10.3% (10.5% senior secured and 0.5% senior subordinate), which is well below the 25-year annual average of 41.4%. Final recovery rates in 2015 for high-yield bonds were 25.2%, compared with recoveries of 48.1%, 52.7%, 53.2%, 48.6%, and 41.0% in full-years 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2010, respectively. Notably, average recoveries for Energy and Metals/Mining bonds were 18.3% and 20.0%, respectively, which weighed down overall high-yield recovery rates. Excluding the troubled commodity sectors, high-yield recoveries were a more respectable 46.1% (32.1% Ex-Energy only ). As for loans, recovery rates for first-lien loans thus far in 2016 are 24.5%, compared with their 18-year annual average of 67.2%. Final 2015 1st lien recoveries were 48.2%, while average recoveries for Energy and Metals/Mining 1st lien loans were 44.1% and 38.4%, respectively.

The record collapse in recovery rates is shown below.

It is not just JPM who points out what we first noticed in January: in an interview with Goldman s Allison Nathan, credit guru Edward Altman reiterates that same warning, although he focuses on the 2015 recovery rate which already is more than two times higher than that seen in 2016 defaults:

Allison Nathan: What is your view on recovery rates?

Edward Altman: Our approach to recovery rates is not centered on sectors. What we ve looked at carefully over 25 years is the correlation between default rates and recovery rates. As you would expect, when the former rise to high or above-average levels, you always observe the latter dropping to below-average levels. This strong inverse relationship is as much a function of supply and demand as it is of company fundamentals. So if we are expecting a higher default rate in 2016 and even 2017, then we would expect a lower recovery rate. Already in 2015, the recovery rate dropped dramatically relative to 2014 even though the default rate was below average; we saw a 33-34% recovery rate versus the historical average of 45%, measured as the price just after default. This is primarily due to the heavy concentration of energy companies whose recovery rates depend on their ability to liquidate their assets at reasonable prices, which in turn depends on the price of oil. Low oil prices have pushed recovery rates in the energy sector below 25% and even into the single digits for some companies. And that s going to continue. So this year I expect recovery rates much below average, producing a double-whammy of high default rates and low recovery rates for credit investors.

Since then recovery rates have dropped even further. BUT high-yield bond prices have surged on the back of ECB, BOE buying and the knock-on effects of $200 billion per month of experimentation by the world s central-planners.

Simply put, the revelation of a default event exposes the vast gap between real asset values (upon liquidation or bankruptcy) and the artificially supported prices seen in bond markets .

In the 30 year life of the so-called junk bond market, the chasm between reality and central-planner-created markets has never been wider.

Jeong Lee, left, of Ithaca, Asaru Turner, of Atlanta, Vlad Smarandache, of Bucharest, Romania, and Woocheol Hyun, of Ithaca participate in the Life Changing Summer program.

Eleven high school students from as far away as Romania and as close as Ithaca spent three weeks on campus creating new businesses with entrepreneurial Cornell student mentors this summer.

Ithaca high-schooler Freya Ryd’s idea for an app called “Commun” would allow people at social events or conferences to connect with like-minded folks in the same room. Asaru Turner of Atlanta has an idea for a “Detective” device that would detect contaminants in household water. And Romanian Vlad Smarandache’s “Wavekit” would help high school students teach themselves electronics by using a circuit board plugged into their computers.

“What they achieve in a three-week span is amazing and inspiring,” said Peter Cortle ’11, founder of Life Changing Labs and marketing specialist for Entrepreneurship at Cornell.

The LCL high school program includes morning classes taught by Cornell students covering the basics of entrepreneurship, computer science and design, with afternoons spent conducting research and developing business ideas into products. Students also meet with alumni entrepreneurs, guest speakers and professors who offer business advice.

Additional activities include question-and-answer sessions with graduate students and workshops on everything from 3-D printing to resume creation.

The high school students also make key connections with student and alumni company founders who are on campus this summer working on their businesses at an LCL summer incubator.

“The high school students have so much energy, and our company founders are passionate about their ideas,” said Alexandra Voinea ’18, a mechanical and aerospace engineering major who stayed on campus this summer to help with both programs. Along with entrepreneurial and computer science skills, the students learn many “soft skills,” she said, such as making presentations, working in teams, dealing with setbacks and networking.

Ryd said the three-week process helped her gain confidence in herself and in her business. “It also helped that we could bounce ideas off of each other and receive constructive criticism and feedback,” she said. Along with the Commun app, Ryd is also involved with another business team developing a pill-reminder device that could be worn on the wrist.

“The program provides the opportunity for students to identify problems and generate solutions entrepreneurially and confidently pitch their ideas, opportunities that are not very accessible at the high school level,” said Michael Raspuzzi ’16, co-founder of the summer program and managing director of LCL. “Ultimately, the experience helps them learn more about how they can combine and apply their specific interests moving forward with their academic and professional goals.”

Kathy Hovis is a writer for Entrepreneurship at Cornell.

Income Inequality

When Karl Marx began to hypothesize that an economic revolution would occur, one of his primary concerns was the unequal distribution of wealth. He saw a capitalist society where there was terrible inequality. A small amount of people possessed a high percentage of all the money and income. What this did was create a larger and larger poor underclass. Marx theorized that this unequal division of wealth would eventually lead to a class revolution. While Marx’s revolution failed his essential problem still exists. In America about 5% of the people possess 95% of the wealth. This leads to certain problems, foremost among them poverty and income equality. All of this eventually leads to the problem of lack of spending in an economy.

Analyzing the Problem

The most common method of analyzing economic distribution is to use the family as the basic income unit and then rank all families from lowest to highest. After the incomes are ranked, they are then divided into fifths, and then examined. This data is then plotted on the Lorenz curve – a curve that shows how much the actual distribution of income varies from an equal distribution- by adding the percentage the lowest fifth earned to that of the next highest fifth, and then plotted as the first point of the graph. This number is then added to the middle fifth and plotted as the second point. This process continues until the cumulative values of all fifths are plotted. If all families earned the same income then the graph for the Lorenz curve would be a diagonal line beginning in the lower left-hand corner and moving towards the upper right hand corner. But because all families don’t receive the same income, the curve showing the actual income distribution is curved. Thus the area between the ideal diagonal line and the curve shows the degree of income inequality.

Reasons for Income Inequality

There are numerous amounts of reasons as to why incomes of various groups may be different. The first reason has to do with education. Some people have higher incomes than others do because they obtained a higher level of education. Thus they are put in better positions to get higher paying jobs that require higher levels of skills.

The second reason for income inequality has to do with the fact that some people hold more wealth than others and that the distribution of wealth is more uneven than that of income. This inequality gives the wealthy the advantage to send their children to expensive colleges and universities, and to set their children up in business so they can earn a better income.

Discrimination is another reason that there is an inequality with regards to income. Women may not be promoted to the higher positions in their business because of the “glass ceiling”. Certain unions may deny immigrants or minorities membership o the grounds that certain groups are not fit for certain professions.

Another factor that influences the distribution of income is the ability that some people possess. Professional athletes and popular performers all have natural abilities that allow them to earn more income.

Finally, another reason for differences in the distribution of income is the amount of monopoly power certain groups hold. Unions have considerable power and have been able to obtain higher wages for their members. Therefore these workers are more likely to earn higher wages than a person in the same profession who is not a union member is. For white-collar workers, monopoly power comes in the form of quotas placed on the number that can enter a profession. The American Medial Association, for example, has been successful in limiting the number of people in its profession by limiting enrollments in medical schools.

Solving The Problem

There are six types of antipoverty programs, all with different channels to help the poor.

Income assistance is the first type. Basically is provides direct cash assistance to those in need. One such program is Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) under which a family in need because of the death, continuous absence, or permanent disability of a parent can receive cash payments. Individual states can determine whether a family is eligible for benefits and how large the benefits should be; this is done under the guidelines of the federal government. Another income assistance program in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which makes payments to blind or disabled persons age 65 or older.

The second type of antipoverty program is General Assistance. which contains programs that assist poor people but do not provide direct case assistance. One example is the food stamp program because a person will pay a fraction of the worth of a coupon administered by the government. Another general assistance program is Medicaid. Under this, the federal government pays a majority of healthcare costs and the state governments pay the rest.

The third type of antipoverty program are the social service programs. These include areas as child abuse prevention, foster care, family planning, job training, child welfare, and day care. Although the state has final say in the kids of services provided by the programs, the federal government matches part of the cost. To be eligible for federal funds, a state is free to select the social issues it wishes to address, set the eligibility requirements, and decides how the program is to be carried out.

The fourth antipoverty program is the negative income tax. which would make cash payments to certain groups below the poverty line. Under the negative income tax, the federal government would establish an income level below which people do not have to pay taxes. Then, the government would pay a certain amount of money to any person who earned less than that level. Such a program would be more cost-effective for the government than the current welfare programs are.

The fifth type of antipoverty program is enterprise zones. which are areas where companies can locate free of certain local, state, and federal tax laws and operating restrictions. The zones benefit businesses and are residents because people can find work without traveling far and rundown areas can begin to grow.

The final antipoverty program is the state-controlled workfare program. Under workfare, welfare recipients are required to exchange some of their labor for benefits. People on workfare often assist law enforcement officials or sanitation and highway crews. In New York City, many people on workfare clean subway cars and stations. The work is required of almost everyone except those with very young children, the disabled, and the elderly.

Money Market Account vs. High-Interest Checking Account: Which Is Better?

With near-zero interest rates having become the norm, you have probably been conditioned to accept rates on your liquid cash that barely register on your account statements. According to Bankrate.com, the average money market account (MMA) rate in the nation was 0.09%, as of April 7, 2016, which would earn $9 on a $10,000 deposit after the first year. You can find better rates by shopping and comparing. If you’re willing to do your banking in the Internet cloud, you can often find MMA rates topping 1%.

However, there’s another option with even better rates: high-interest checking accounts. High-interest checking accounts pay as high as 3.5% interest, with many paying in the 1 to 2% range, though these are not easy to find. They are usually found in smaller community banks, at credit unions or at online banks. It is easy to become captivated by the alluring rates they offer, but, with all the caveats involved, they are definitely not for everyone.

What Is a Money Market Account?

Money market accounts are federally insured short-term interest-bearing instruments that generate a variable yield while preserving principal. They tend to credit interest rates that are higher than savings accounts, but they often require a higher minimum deposit. Some accounts also require a minimum balance to receive the highest rate. The interest rates on MMAs are variable, which means they rise and fall with the interest rate market. Most MMAs come with limited check writing and balance transfer privileges. However, federal regulations limit the number of transactions in MMAs to six a month.

What Is a High Interest Checking Account?

High interest checking accounts are indeed checking accounts, with all the trappings that normally come with them. Many offer unlimited checks, a debit card, online account management, and perks such as rewards points and free overdraft protection. With most of these accounts, the monthly maintenance fee is waived when you maintain a minimum daily balance. The accounts are usually capped, meaning the higher interest rate is paid up to a certain level of money on deposit. Most accounts are capped at $25,000, but the caps can go as low as $1,000 on some accounts. Deposits that exceed the cap earn a much lower rate, as low as 0.1%.

Why You Might Want a Money Market Account

Although high interest checking accounts offer rates that are significantly higher than those available on savings accounts or MMAs, you have to meet several conditions to earn a higher rate. For instance, with most high-interest checking accounts, you must accept direct deposit and electronic statements. In addition, they require a minimum number of debit card transactions, up to 15 per month. Most accounts require 10 transactions; if you only make nine, you lose the higher rate for the statement period. Finally, most accounts require at least one bill pay or transfer from the account per statement period.

Though none of these requirements are insurmountable, when taken together, they require you to actively manage the account to ensure that you meet all of the requirements. Most people are used to a more passive approach to account management.

Why You Might Want a High-Interest Checking Account

An MMA is generally a better option if you want to park some cash for a short period, or if you don’t want to actively manage your savings. An MMA gives you access to your money when you need it, but you generally don’t have to manage it like a checking account. If you’re willing to manage your account actively, a high interest checking account can generate significantly higher interest earnings than a typical MMA. If, in the normal course of a month, you expect to make the required number of debit transactions and you have at least one bill you can set up on automatic bill payment. a high interest checking account shouldn’t be much to manage.

The most difficult aspect to manage is the cap. To optimize your interest rate earnings, you need to ensure the amount on deposit doesn’t exceed the cap, and you will likely need to keep transferring from lower-yielding accounts to ensure you maximize the amount that can be earning the higher yield. For a $10,000 deposit in a high-interest checking account earning 2.5% interest, that is about $240 more in earnings than a typical MMA.

Auto Insurance for High Risk Drivers

Drivers can find high risk auto insurance online from multiple companies which accept those who are considered to be a riskier driver. OnlineAutoInsurance.com allows drivers to complete one single form to perform an instant quote comparison from top insurers and find more affordable rates for the needed coverage and protection.
Find lower quotes through comparisons:

Oftentimes, people are charged higher premiums because they simply do not know how to find cheaper rates. This is because each carrier has it s own prices based on their unique factors such as loss ratio, return on investment and market share. The key is to compare a few different carriers to narrow down the one which will have the right offerings like low prices and plentiful coverage. At OnlineAutoInsurance.com, an online car insurance quotes comparison is easy and fast since it only requires consumers to answer one set of questions.

Motorists are classified high risk when they are in violation of traffic laws or may be new to driving such as teenagers and the newly licensed. The most common classifications are policyholders charged with a DUI/DWI or multiple violations on their driving record which are often referred to as bad drivers. But what most motorists do not know is that there are other criteria used by the companies to classify a policyholder as high risk. Other criteria include young drivers under the age of 25 or first time drivers, credit rating and history, students, and prior claims history.

Being placed or categorized under these classifications can result in higher rates for insured motorists that they should not be subjected to. Whether they are determined to be riskier at the signing of the policy or during a carriers coverage, the consumers driving history changes with violations, both result in an increase in the payment amount for the coverage. What most users do not know is that there are methods of being insured without having to pay inflated prices if considered a high risk driver.

High risk car insurance companies :

The best way to reduce those pesky premium hikes when a consumer has a few dings on their driving record is to shop around and compare multiple auto ins companies. There is such a thing as a company that focuses their business on securing only older non-risky drivers, but there are also carriers that are profitable or maybe even target risky motorists and more willing to accept an elevated risk.

The non-standard market specializes in covering those with a history of offenses or claims, are new to driving, or have bad credit by creating programs that would benefit these individuals. Usually these insurers offer these programs with cheap car insurance for high risk drivers to serve as an incentive to draw consumers away from their competition that do not have such programs and are charging more for coverage. Factors such as being a good student or driving courses taken can offer discounts to the insured that would help offset the cost of coverage and reduce the monthly payments of their premiums.

For those who continue to have a problem finding an insurer to accept them and insure them, they can refer to the assigned risk program for assistance.

Cheap Auto Insurance for high risk driving records :

DNS is a core internet protocol that enables your web presence by translating human readable domain names to network routable addresses. DNS availability is critical to delivering your audience to your site on demand around the clock.

Our managed authoritative dns hosting services deliver the DNS uptime and availability that are crucial to your success.

The edgedirector.com authoritative dns server platform is scalable, flexible, and responsive. It delivers accurate dns responses quickly and propagates dns zone record changes immediately to all dns servers. No more waiting for dns updates. It is authoritative dns service at its best.

The service is further enhanced with an advanced dns feature set to help you stay at the front of the internet pack.

automated maintenance failover
When your servers are unavailable, your visitors are pointed to a information page hosted on edgedirector.com servers. The pointing mechanism is specially designed to inform and reassure human users while also avoiding search engine penalties. Even if all of your servers in every data center are unavailable, your users will still receive some reassurance that you will be back.

wildcard dns record support
Users can be directed to a default server when the hostname does not exist in your dns zone. No more lost users from typing errors like ww .example.com.

global dns load balancing
Use dynamic geoip mapped dns records to point your users to the closest healthy server to improve server response latency. Turn your existing servers into a custom content delivery network with an international footprint.

geoip content delivery mapping
A content delivery network can also be geolocation aware. Dynamic dns answers are used to point your users at the geolocation designated server for their geographic place of origin. You can easily deliver geotargeted content from single or multiple content distribution servers.

monitored server failover
edgedirector.com monitors your servers and tailors dns answers automatically to include only servers that are currently available in the defined set. Designated subscriber administrators are automatically notified of outages for corrective action. Once the server is back online, it will again be included in the server pool.

hardware load balancing compatible
You may designate any ip address as the published endpoint in your dns records. This includes the public interfaces of single or redundant hardware load balancers and caching appliances in your data center. Combine global load balancing with local load balancing for the best server response time and greatest resilience to service interruptions.

These advanced dns based capabilities work together to provide your users with the best service possible. A set of globally distributed geolocation aware servers becomes as easy to manage as a single server and as powerful as any CDN. Imagine a no-compromise CDN custom built for your unique requirements with complete control in your hands.

About CALCampus

Who We Are

Regionally accredited. CALCampus is a private, international, online distance learning institution, located in New Hampshire, which offers both college and high school courses solely through the medium of the Internet. Recognized and licensed by the Higher Education Commission – Career School Division of the New Hampshire Department of Education and accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), CALCampus has been recognized and accepted by the international community for decades as an exclusive online distance learning institution. Enrollment is open to individual learners anywhere in the world who have access to the Internet.

CALCampus was founded in 1982 as the Computer Assisted Learning Center (CALC) and has been teaching exclusively online since early 1986 when it opened its first online tutoring center for high school and continuing education learners on the QuantumLink network. It was known for years as the CALC Online Campus and adopted the name of CALCampus. CALCampus was the first to develop and implement the concept of a totally online-based school through which administration, real-time classroom instruction, and materials were provided online.

CALCampus provides individual courses for job skills enhancement, career change, continuing education, adult basic education, personal and professional development, undergraduate college credit, and high school prerequisites for adult learners. Courses are offered in the academic areas of mathematics, science, social science, humanities, business, law, and English. English (ESL) courses are offered for non-native speakers.

CALCampus issues a hardcopy official transcript of course completion with grade earned for each individual course successfully completed. For programs, we issue a certificate of program completion with transcript of courses completed for the program. Refer to the Academics page for information about courses and for prices of currently available courses. To register, see Admissions.

Online Campus

CALCampus services (libraries, administrative communications, conference rooms, Web site, Web applications, etc.) are provided through our dedicated Course Management System, which is accessible to registered students via the Internet at http://cms.calcampus.edu/

Through our Online Campus, students and teachers utilize our online classrooms and libraries. Teachers are available through the Course Management System and e-mail, and they hold weekly office hours online for realtime chat. We provide an online Bookstore for course textbooks.

Accreditation & State Approval

We have two divisions: Postsecondary (non-degree) and High School. CALCampus serves adult learners with courses that are primarily postsecondary for college credit. We also offer high school credit courses for adult learners.

  • Postsecondary Division: Licensed and approved by the State of New Hampshire Higher Education Commission, Career School Licensing RSA 188-G:1-10, as a private non-degree granting distance learning postsecondary career school. The Commission’s mission is to provide access to higher education and to ensure educational quality.
  • Postsecondary Division: Regionally accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), which is a division of AdvancED. Click here to see a copy of our NCA CASI Accreditation Certificate. CALCampus school number: 105354.

Click here for our listing in the AdvancED database of accredited institutions.

By our choice, we do not offer financial aid nor participate in federal student loan programs and do not offer degrees. This means, of course, that we will not be on lists of degree-granting colleges nor on lists of colleges that participate in federal loan programs.

  • The High School Division is also accredited the National Association of Private Schools (NAPS). NAPS accredits our High School Division. NAPS is a consortium of Christian Educators and Private School Administrators from across the United States and Canada. The Association is dedicated to recognizing and improving the Spiritual and Educational quality of Private and Christian Schools.
  • Mission, Purpose, and Philosophy

    History and Vision

CALCampus began as the Computer Assisted Learning Center (CALC), which was founded in 1982 in Rindge, New Hampshire, as a small, offline computer-based, adult learning center. The center was based on the vision of providing affordable, quality instruction to individual learners through the use of computers. In those early years, CALC also compiled and distributed public domain educational software and published articles dealing with the use of computers in education.

CALC’s vision broadened over the years as the online world opened and we were able to serve students from diverse geographic locations through the use of computers and the Internet. In early 1986, CALC became a totally online school through its Tutoring Center on the QuatumLink network, and followed with structured courses in 1986. From 1986 through 1995, CALC Online Campus, as it was known, opened its online school on several major telecommunications networks, including PC-Link, AppleLink, AOL, Delphi, GEnie, and CompuServe. In early 1995, CALC Online Campus made its online school available through the Internet as CALCampus.com and after receiving regional accreditation, the domain changed to calcampus.edu. Since 1986, CALCampus has been in continual operation as an online school and we have been pleased to see the increasing adoption of online education by the mainstream educational community over the decades.

    Our Faculty and Administration

The CALCampus Faculty are veterans in online distance teaching and are practicing educators and professionals in their fields. Some have been teaching with us online since the 1980s. Most instructors have a Master’s degree in their subject areas; some have Doctorates. Teachers in our high school diploma program core curriculum are certified. CALCampus is administered by a Director who has extensive experience and academic credentials in the field of online distance learning and educational administration. The Director and Faculty regularly consult on curriculum matters, make improvements to existing courses and programs, and develop new courses and programs to fulfill the needs of our students. CALCampus has a School Committee, comprised of the Director, a senior Faculty member, and a school Attorney, which communicates on matters of importance to the school’s curriculum, operation, financial matters, and student body needs. We all have one shared goal: to provide quality instruction to our students.

High Risk Merchant Accounts – Card Processing #high #risk #merchant

    #

    High Risk Merchant Accounts

One fact about High Risk Businesses is that a majority of merchant account providers will turn them down.

Most merchant account providers believe that the unpredictable industries are just too difficult to work with. In almost all cases, they will instantly decline the company due to the uncertainty. Truthfully, there are a lot of businesses and industries that regular merchants simply refuse to help.

Merchants decline industries that are categorized as dangerous. Most providers are wary of anything associated with a risky business.

Merchant Account Providers are liable for your risk

As a respectable and dependable merchant, it can be quite frustrating to have processing companies tell you that the company you are in means that the risk is just too high. Although you might know and have the books to prove that your business has been reliable, many will shy away because of the future damage it might cause. If a bank gives an account to a merchant that later has financial trouble, it can be damaging to the provider. Hence, why many banks feel they need to look out for high risk merchants to protect themselves.

What makes a business “high risk”?

Merchant providers mark a company high risk due to a lot of factors. Generally though, the two most important factors and conditions is the reputation of the industry that you are in and the sustainability of the businesses itself.

The respectability of the industry basically means the way that business is conducted and its image. For example, most online businesses are considered to be unpredictable because of the potential to have high traffic and susceptibility to consumer data theft. When consumers are ordering online there is always a danger that data can be stolen and account providers can not ignore this unfortunate fact.

Another problems is the view of your industry. One can understand that gambling establishments can be seen as being a uncertain due to their historic connections to being part of sketchy industries. But does anyone think that selling online supplements and health products are viewed as being part of a high risk industry just like gambling? Any company that has elevated levels of fraud or possibly consumer distrust means that a bank or other processing agency could consider it to be high risk.

    Charge Backs and Sustainability

Any company with a relatively high charge back rate such as a travel business, are also high risk merchant accounts. If customers are often canceling transactions and requesting refunds, it is a exposure to possible fraud. Merchant account providers do not want to see a large amount of charge backs because from a corporate stand point, it’s the bank putting it on the line when a refund is issued. There is a reason why most providers back away from businesses like this.

Another factor into whether or not you are a high risk merchant is how long the business has been around. If you are within the first few years of a business or in a relatively new industry, it can be difficult to prove your sustainability over time without a track record. Any provider is looking for a business and an industry that is going to succeed and they need the data to back that up before they work with you.

What can a high risk merchant account do?

Luckily, there are a number of providers that specialize in this type of account. Payment Savvy is one of them. We understand the risks that are involved in your type of business. We understand the problems of running a risky business that might have complications like not using credit cards.

A lot of providers try to take advantage of the situation and the fact that a lot of people will not work with these industries. There are some providers out there that will get you a high risk account, however, they will most likely give you monstrous rates, which we feel is very unethical. We understand your needs and we want your business to succeed.

Why not check our post on Next Day Funding and how our services can support you with fast, high risk credit card processing.

Castle House School – The Independent School in Newport, Shropshire

    An Environment Conducive to Learning

Classes are kept small – a maximum of 20 children, but many are smaller. Everyone knows everyone else, which contributes to the family atmosphere.

Read more about the school here

  • A Happy Place for Learning

It is a strong belief of the school that happy children work the best. Our mission statement is built around this belief. Inspectors praised the school’s “special family atmosphere, based on mutual respect, in which pupils have the opportunity to develop their full potential.”

Read more about the ethos of the school

  • A Rich, Broad And Balanced Curriculum

The essential principle behind the curriculum in all subjects is that children learn by doing. They are expected to have a go and do their best. If they have difficulties, the small classes enable the teachers to encourage and help them individually.

Read more about the curriculum here

    Acting Head’s Welcome:

Castle House School is a special place. This is an environment children love and where they love to learn. We nurture them in a safe, secure, loving environment so that they develop into happy, confident individuals ready to work hard and reach their full potential.

That word ‘confident’ is key. Right from day one our children are taught that they matter – that they each have talents to be celebrated, opinions to express and potential to explore. This, I believe, is what gives them the self-confidence to turn that potential into real-world successes.

    Tennessee Car Accident Lawyer #free #consultation #800.705.2121 #the #higgins #law #firm #fights

    Tennessee Car Accident Lawyer

Generally, a hit and run in Tennessee happens when a driver is involved with either another car or a pedestrian and they leave the scene of the accident without saying who they are, giving any type of information about themselves, or rendering any type of aid or help to someone. They will normally cause an accident and leave the scene.

If you have been injured in a hit and run accident and are looking for legal representation, it is crucial to contact a Nashville, Tennessee car accident lawyer immediately. An experienced attorney will be able to build a case to help recover any damages you may be entitled to.

    Fact Patterns of an Accident

In a hit and run accident, a lot of times the reason someone runs is that they are guilty of something. They may not have insurance, so they run because they know under the law of Tennessee, all mobile drivers should carry insurance. Or, they may be intoxicated, which an individual also knows under the laws of Tennessee a person cannot drive while a person is under the influence of alcohol or a drug.

Further, they may have just realized that they have caused a serious accident and they have the urge to flee. These are the types of fact patterns a Tennessee car accident lawyer has seen around hit and run accidents. An individual is leaving because they have a guilty conscience about either causing the accident, not being able to pay for it, or because they are driving under the influence.

Hit and Run vs. General Accident Cases

In hit and run cases, a Nashville, Tennessee car accident attorney is usually dealing with a client who is upset because somebody has hit their car and flees the scene, not knowing if they were injured. There are always a lot of personal feelings involved in such accidents, but from a legal standpoint, an attorney will have to first see if they can identify who that person was, if anyone recorded a license plate, if there a witness to the accident, et cetera.

If the individual cannot be identified, a Nashville, Tennessee car accident lawyer will try to prove an uninsured or under-insured motorist case, to show that the individual was an alleged victim of a hit and run, and therefore should be entitled an uninsured motorist claim.

In a hit-and-run accident case, a person is going to be able to recover economic damages, non-economic damages, and often punitive damages. Economic damages will be anything from the cost of repair to the individual s car, lost wages, and a person s pain and suffering. Pain and suffering is a non-economic damage.

The last type of damages a Nashville, Tennessee car accident lawyer will recover is punitive damages. This goes back to the hit-and-run driver leaving the client at the scene of the accident. A Tennessee car accident lawyer will ask the jury for damages to punish them for acting that way.

In Tennessee, a person can get punitive damages or exemplary damages from someone who behaves recklessly or criminally. It is a crime to cause an accident and leave the scene, so a person can ask a jury for civil damages or monetary damages to punish that person and to deter other similar actions.

    Contacting an Attorney

An experienced Nashville, Tennessee car accident attorney will increase the value of the case where there is a settlement value or the value of the case at trial.

They will want to be able to put the accident claim together efficiently, so they will reconstruct how the accident occurred and why the other person is at fault, preserve evidence such as photographs of the scene and witness statements, advise the client through the process on matters like whether or not they should give a recorded statement, and then put the evidence together about the damages to present it to a jury.

Contact us online immediately, especially in a hit-and-run case. Witnesses leave, people’s memories fade, and a person should hire a Tennessee car accident lawyer quickly so that they can preserve all that evidence. Other steps that a person should complete after being injured in a hit-and-run accident would be to file a police report, get any witness info in the area, take pictures of their car, the scene, and any other vehicles that may have been involved in the accident.

When was the last time you boarded a jet (like a Boeing 737)? Have you ever stopped to think how such an enormous piece of metal can fly 30,000 feet in the air and cross wide oceans? As the plane cruises high above the clouds, have you ever tried closing your eyes and imagine how your body is being propeled hundreds of miles per hour through the air? The jet plane is an amazing result of human invention and discovery. Yet, it was because two young American bicycle mechanics dreamed this dream, that we are able to enjoy the benefits of flight. As young boys, Orville and Wilbur Wright were given a flying toy made of cork and bamboo by their father. It had a paper body and was powered by rubber bands. Though the toy didn’t last very long, it inspired the boys to imagine and believe that human flight would one day be possible.

In 1892, while in their early twenties, they opened a bicycle shop together to pay the bills. Although they worked as mechanics, their dream was always to achieve human flight. They researched and experimented in their own workshop tirelessly. They never gave up. And on December 17, 1903, these two young bicycle mechanics made history by achieving human flight.

This story has always inspired us. It is our hope that one day, young, creative minds like you or your child’s will change the world as the Wright brothers have.

We have designed this site to help you and your child search for useful ideas and tips for your experiments. Here, you will find literally hundreds of experiments of every kind in every discipline of science from chemistry, biology, physics to even human psychology. We’re confident that our powerful color-coded search tool will help quicken your research tremendously.

Also, experience shows that many people find it helpful to learn from what others already know. We strongly suggest that instead of copying these experiments blindly, you should try to understand the principles demonstrated and then take those principles and apply them to your own experiment in a different and more creative way.

It’s our sincerest hope that the information provided by this site will serve you well in guiding and inspiring your child.

5 Surprising Facts About High Blood Pressure

What you don’t know about high blood pressure could hurt you. High blood pressure affects one in three Americans ,1 yet many people with the condition don’t know they have it.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure raises the risk for heart disease and stroke, which are leading causes of death in the United States. Fortunately, high blood pressure is treatable and preventable. To lower your risk, get your blood pressure checked regularly and take action to control your blood pressure if it is too high.

    1. High blood pressure may be linked to dementia.

Recent studies show that high blood pressure is linked to a higher risk for dementia, a loss of cognitive function. 2 Timing seems to matter: Some evidence suggests having uncontrolled high blood pressure during midlife (age 45 to 65) creates a higher risk for dementia later in life. 3 The takeaway? It’s never too early to start thinking about your blood pressure and taking steps to manage it.

Mind Your Risks, a campaign from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, is educating people about the importance of controlling high blood pressure in midlife.

    2. Young people can have high blood pressure, too.

High blood pressure doesn’t just happen to older adults. About one in four men and nearly one in five women age 35 to 44 has high blood pressure. 4

High blood pressure is a leading cause of stroke, a condition that is on the rise among younger people. Experts think the increased risk for stroke among young adults is a direct result of the rising rates of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes—conditions that are preventable and treatable.

Younger people should get their blood pressure checked at least once each year. You can get your blood pressure checked at a doctor’s office, a pharmacy, or at many grocery stores.

Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it. The only way to know is to check your blood pressure regularly.

    3. High blood pressure usually doesn’t have any symptoms.

High blood pressure is sometimes called the “silent killer.” Most people with high blood pressure don’t have any symptoms, such as sweating or headaches. Because many people feel fine, they don’t think they need to get their blood pressure checked. Even if you feel normal, your health may be at risk. Talk to your doctor about your risk for high blood pressure.

    4. Many people who have high blood pressure don’t know it.

About 11 million U.S. adults with high blood pressure aren’t even aware they have it and are not receiving treatment to control their blood pressure. 1 Most people with uncontrolled blood pressure have health insurance and visit a health care provider at least twice a year, but the condition remains undiagnosed, hidden from the doctor and patient. 5 CDC is working with providers to find patients with high blood pressure who are ” hiding in plain sight .” Ask your provider what your blood pressure numbers mean and whether they are too high. Stick to your treatment plan and follow your provider’s advice if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure.

What You Can Do By living a healthy lifestyle, you can help keep your blood pressure in a healthy range and lower your risk for heart disease and stroke. A healthy lifestyle includes

    • Eating a healthy diet
    • Maintaining a healthy weight
    • Getting enough physical activity
    • Not smoking
    • Limiting alcohol use Learn more about steps you can take to prevent high blood pressure.

    5. Women and minorities face unique risks when it comes to high blood pressure.

Women with high blood pressure who become pregnant are more likely to have complications during pregnancy than those with normal blood pressure. High blood pressure can harm a mother’s kidneys and other organs, and it can cause low birth weight and early delivery. Certain types of birth control can also raise a woman’s risk for high blood pressure. Women with high blood pressure who want to become pregnant should work with their health care team to lower their blood pressure before becoming pregnant.
African American men and women have higher rates of high blood pressure than any other race or ethnic group. 4 These individuals are also more likely to be hospitalized for high blood pressure. Experts think this is related to higher rates of obesity, diabetes, and stroke among this group. Lifestyle changes, such as reducing sodium in your diet, getting more physical activity, and reducing stress, can help lower blood pressure (see sidebar).

    What CDC Is Doing

CDC supports several public health efforts that address high blood pressure, including:

    • Million Hearts ®. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke. Million Hearts® is a national initiative with a goal to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes. CDC and the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services co-lead the initiative on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Million Hearts® provides toolkits for health care practitioners to help them find patients with undiagnosed high blood pressure and provide consistent, effective treatment for the condition.
    • WISEWOMAN (Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for WOMen Across the Nation). The WISEWOMAN program provides low-income, under-insured, or uninsured women with chronic disease screenings, lifestyle programs, and referral services to prevent heart disease and stroke. CDC currently funds 21 WISEWOMAN programs, which operate on the local level in states and tribal organizations.
    • Sodium Reduction in Communities Program (SRCP). A diet too high in sodium is associated with higher blood pressure. SRCP aims to increase access to lower sodium food options and reduce the amount of sodium Americans eat and drink each day. CDC currently funds 6 local communities and 4 state-level programs to carry out this work.
