    Assistant Director of Admissions
    MBA for Professionals Programs

The UF MBA Program seeks highly-competitive candidates to become a part of our diverse UF MBA community individuals who are committed to getting the most out of their MBA experience and to leaving a legacy for others to follow.

The UF MBA Program operates on a rolling admissions basis, and completed applications are considered as soon as they are received. Candidates are encouraged to apply online as early as possible. Admission is highly competitive and limited to the most qualified applicants. Prior to completing an application, all prospective candidates should make certain they meet the minimum academic requirements and have the necessary two years of professional work experience to be a competitive applicant.

When reviewing applications, the Admissions Committee searches for evidence of proven intellectual ability, managerial promise and community involvement. Strong interpersonal skills, communication ability, motivation, maturity, career focus and leadership potential are also important qualities in prospective students.

Successful applicants demonstrate high performance in the following areas:

Applicants must possess a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or its four-year international equivalent. In reviewing the academic record, the Admissions Committee considers the caliber of the institution attended, rigor of the curriculum, performance in quantitative courses and record of scholastic achievement. Official scores (within the last five years) from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT ) provide another important indicator of the candidate’s ability to succeed academically. Applicants who are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL ) must meet the minimum standards set forth by the University of Florida’s Office of Graduate Admissions. In recent years, admitted Full-Time Programs candidates have averaged a 3.4 GPA and 675 GMAT.

Applicants are required to have at least two years of significant, full-time, post-baccalaureate work experience prior to enrollment. For all applicants, the Admissions Committee is interested in work-related responsibilities and accomplishments, career advancement and potential, managerial or international experience and future career goals.

UF MBA requires two professional recommendations to help evaluate prior performance within an organization, appropriateness of the MBA degree and potential for future business leadership. Current and former supervisors provide the best recommendations, as well as anyone else who can speak to your professional abilities. Recommendations should not be submitted by friends, relatives, or former professors. If an applicant knows a current UF MBA student or alum, they can serve as a recommender by providing a brief endorsement directly to a UF MBA Admissions representative. Recommenders have the option of using our recommendation form or providing a standard letter. Letters should be submitted directly from your recommenders to the UF MBA Programs Office at ( floridamba at warrington.ufl.edu ).

The applicant’s written essays and personal interview provide opportunities to convey one’s unique background, personality, and ability to add to the diversity of the UF MBA community. A selection of required and optional essays allows candidates to describe important attributes that are not apparent in other parts of the application. The essays are evaluated not only for content, but also for writing style and grammar.

Candidates may be asked to interview with a UF MBA admissions representative prior to the Admission Committee’s final decision. Interviews are by invitation only.

    What is MBA?

“Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a master’s degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines.MBA designation originated in the United States, emerging from the late 19th century as the country industrialized and companies sought out scientific approaches to management.

    What is EMBA?

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programs were first established for senior executives by the University of Chicago in 1943 and are now offered by many schools worldwide. EMBA programs are designed to propel high-potential professionals to the next state of their career. Typically, candidates are mid-to-upper-level managers or entrepreneurs who have extensive experience in their field of expertise but are seeking to broaden their business knowledge base.

    Differences

An EMBA average student profile is slightly different from MBA. These programs are aimed at experienced executives who prefer not to take a career break to take a full-time MBA and typically require significant business experience to gain admission. Unlike their counterparts on full-time MBA programs, EMBA students are able to implement and practice what they learn in the classroom in their job as they learn and there are greater opportunities to learn from classmates.”

Typically, the applicants to an Executive MBA Program must have a minimum of five years professional work experience. Executive MBA Programs are designed to meet the needs of upper level managers. For example, at GSU, 7 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management-level position (managing people, projects or assets) is required for EMBA candidates. In contrast, MBA programs require 2-4 years. Candidates to EMBA are often evaluated based on what they will bring to the program. In most cases, taking the GMAT is not required.

Most MBA programs utilize a combination of GMAT scores and undergraduate grade averages to evaluate candidates for admission. EMBA programs in contrast, often put less emphasis on the GMAT, focusing instead on the experiential background of their potential students.

EMBA programs require a high level of commitment from the students, their families, and their employers

    * Most EMBA students put in 80 to 100 hours a week between job and school.
    * Employers must agree to give EMBA students time off from work to attend classes.
    * Because classroom time can be squeezed into few days per month, absences from class are not tolerated.

EMBA programs are geared toward enhancing the careers of working executives, many of whom are company sponsored. These programs are for professionals who are already specialists in a field or industry and need to hone their general management skills in a global/international context to continue up the corporate ladder. MBA programs generally offer career-specific electives.

Covering the most critical business topics, the EMBA curriculum touches all aspects of the enterprise as it pertains to today’s global markets. It is designed to equip leaders with the vision and strategic thinking skills necessary to push forward. Current rules, practices and theories will be examined. Late-breaking news and events are included as they apply to class objectives. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience with their peers through open classroom discussions and team-based projects. Learning methodologies include case studies, simulations, class discussions and other company-specific projects that build a solid analytical framework that can be applied in the workplace.

The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. Students in the MBA program have the option to select an area of concentration and focus approximately one-third of their studies in this area.

In MBA programs, students with undergraduate degrees in non-business fields are often required to successfully complete business “core” requirements before being allowed to enroll in graduate level courses.

EMBA programs feature a well-constructed curriculum of several courses in each of the major business disciplines. However, as a trade-off, there is limited or no opportunity to specialize. Students all take the same general management curriculum at the same time, rather than core courses one year and electives the next

In an MBA Program, students usually choose the classes they will take each quarter. In an Executive MBA program, students often complete classes in a step-lock method, attending courses with the same classmates for the duration of the program.

In EMBA program, students’ professional experience and expertise become part of the fabric of the curriculum. Classes typically meet on Fridays and Saturdays, over two academic years. EMBA programs offer full immersion, with learning outside the classroom and extensive faculty and student/team interaction. Leadership assessment and executive coaching is a special feature of EMBA program.

EMBA programs usually require a 2 week capstone international trip while MBA programs often do not include a class trip.

The MBA programs are typically two years with a paid internship occurring in the summer between the two years in the field in which the students are interested in working.
EMBA students do not hold internships between their first and second years of school because they are fully employed.

At Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University, the cost of EMBA is $63,500, while the cost of MBA is $28,100 for Georgia residents and $76,500 for non-residents.

    OnlineMBA Guide

    Financing Your Education

For an increasing number of students, higher education is not possible without some form of financial aid. As someone who is interested in enrolling in an online MBA program, it s paramount that you understand exactly what types of student aid are available and the responsibility that comes along with borrowing money.

    Federal Aid

When it comes to federal aid, graduate students have three options: campus-based aid, Stafford Loans and Direct PLUS Loans. Some schools provide campus-based aid. which for graduate students can include Federal Work-Study and Federal Perkins Loan programs. The amount of money students receive is based on their individual financial need and the availability of school funds.

Federal Work-Study provides eligible students with part-time jobs that enable them to earn money to help pay for their educational expenses. Given the nature of online degree programs, it is unlikely that any student enrolled in one would be eligible to participate in a Federal Work-Study program on campus, although some schools may offer off-campus opportunities and have agreements with private for-profit employers. Federal Perkins Loan programs allow students to take out low-interest loans through their schools financial aid offices. These need-based loans are backed by government funds and distributed by schools. While graduate students can borrow as much as $8,000 a year, the exact amount granted to each student depends on financial need, the school s funding level and when the applicant s FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) was filed.

Direct Stafford Loans carry low interest and are sometimes subsidized. Direct subsidized loans are distributed based on financial need and do not charge interest while students are in school or during grace or deferment periods. Direct unsubsidized loans are not based on financial need and interest begins to accumulate as soon as the money is distributed. For both of these types of loans, the school determines exact amounts that students are eligible to borrow based on the cost of education.

Graduate students can also receive Direct PLUS Loans. which are based on credit history rather than financial need. Students must submit a FAFSA to apply for these loans, but they cannot be awarded until schools have identified maximum eligibility for Stafford Loans.

Those who qualify for federal loans reap the benefits of low interest rates and more flexible repayment plans, so it is often the best option if you must borrow money. Students who are relying on federal aid to fund their education should submit a FAFSA as early as possible to ensure they receive the maximum amount to which they re eligible. To be eligible to distribute federal aid to students, a university, college or program must be accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. More information can be found on the department s Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs. The department also provides a list of agencies that are recognized for accrediting distance and correspondence education programs, such as online MBA ones. Any institutions that are accredited by agencies appearing on this list are eligible to participate in the federal student financial assistance programs.

    Scholarships

Those looking for financial aid that does not require repayment may want to find organizations that provide scholarships, both need and merit based. Scholarships are often available through organizations such as nonprofit societies, business associations, community centers or charitable organizations. Groups may require applicants to meet certain financial or academic qualifications as well as to submit materials such as undergraduate transcripts, essays, resumes and letters of recommendation.

Those considering earning an MBA online can use personalized search engines such as the Fastweb scholarship search to see what opportunities may be available to them. Most institutions of higher education also have a certain number of scholarships to award to students each year who meet qualifications. Contact your school s financial aid office to find out about what scholarships might be available for online MBA students.

    Employer Tuition Reimbursement Programs

If you are employed, take a look at your benefits package to check whether a tuition reimbursement program is included. These programs pay tuition costs for eligible employees who are participating in career-related education and training. Many companies offer these programs because they believe it is more beneficial to support employees obtaining additional qualifications than it is to spend time and money recruiting new hires. Employers also know that the more educated their workers are the more they can contribute to their companies. These programs can significantly reduce your out of pocket expenses so before you consider any other type of student aid, contact your human resources department.

    Private Student Loans

You have probably often heard that private student loans should be taken out only as a last resort. But for those who don t qualify for as much federal aid as they need, fail to impress the scholarship committee or don t work for a company with education benefits, a private student loan may be the only option. Private student loans are backed by banks and other lending institutions. Interest rates for private loans are usually determined by credit history, so students with a bad one may be denied entirely and those who are approved are likely to pay a significantly higher interest rate than they would on a federal loan. Repayment terms and schedules typically are determined by lenders, which have the power to change them according to what best benefits them with little regard for the borrower.

Shop around and compare when considering a private loan. According to FinAid. students need to take a close look at each private lender s terms and conditions, loan limits, interest rates, repayment options and fees. There are plenty of private lenders that offer reasonable options, but you ll need to take the time to find a quality one.

When it comes to paying for an online MBA program, it s important to explore all your financing options and carefully consider how borrowing money now will affect you later in life.

    Health Informatics MBA Study #mba #in #healthcare #informatics

    #

Health Administration and Computer Information Systems are pleased to jointly announce a new MBA concentration in Health Informatics. The healthcare sector plays an increasingly important role in the US society and there is growing pressure to implement innovations that make it possible to deliver health services of higher quality and at lower costs. Healthcare institutions and processes are information-intensive in nature and the use of information technology (IT) to enable innovations has therefore been, and continues to be, in focus. However, many studies report difficulties in successfully innovating healthcare institutions and processes enabled by IT. In fact, the maturity of IT infrastructures and applications in the healthcare industry is considered to be years behind other industries such as banking, airlines, and manufacturing. For this reason, there is a strong need to develop managerial competencies aimed at enhancing the use of IT for healthcare purposes.

The goal of the MBA concentration in Health Informatics is to provide students with specialized skills to improve healthcare services enabled by information technology. Such improvements focus on the information-intensive nature of healthcare institutions and processes to increase the quality and reduce the cost of healthcare services.

Courses required for the concentration (12 semester hours) in Health Informatics are:

CIS 8080 Security Privacy of Information Information Systems

    HA 8160 Health Care System

    HA 8670 Health Information Systems

Suggested electives for Health Informatics are in recommended order:

    CIS 8000 IT Project Management

10 Ridiculously Cheapest MBA Programs in USA for Out of State Students

    Hi,
    this was realy helpful.
wel cud you plz tel me if a 3yrs undergrad can apply to these US inst. if not thn cud you ans if it even exists and if yes plz giv a link.
    with regards,

If you are looking at MBA for further studies, usually institutes look at a minimum of 16yrs education (or 4yr undergrad degree) Correspondence courses are not accepted to qualify and all the courses have to be done in accredited institutes.

For students who have only 15yrs education (3yr degree), there are a few alternatives.

    1. MBA Bridge program/Pre-MBA for students with 15yrs education
    2. If you have 2-4yrs minimum work experience, the university could consider it equal to a 4th yr of undergrad studies thus making you eligible. You ll have to check with the university or it will be mentioned on their websites
    3. You could do a 1yr/2yr Masters course to qualify. Remember it has to be from a UGC-AICTE accredited institution rated A or better by NAAC.

P.S. Pre-MBA programs also refer to few weeks long programs for GMAT/TOEFL preparation or even programs for already qualified students who just want to experience what classes will be like before actually starting graduate courses. So make sure you search for a year long or 8-9months long MBA Bridge Program.

kindly assist me with the cheapest public university in USA that offers MBA in financial management.

    Free Business Strategy Game

Will you be able to run your own business someday? Do you have the basic decision making skills of an entrepreneur?
Play our free online business strategy game and learn what it means to be an entrepreneur. As the CEO. take strategic operational decisions for your virtual business. Learn about SCM, marketing, HR, finance, production planning more.

    What is BizMAP

Business books and theory can t teach you about business as much as practical, hands-on experience can. If real-world experience is difficult to come by, choose the middle ground Management Simulation Games.

BizMAP is a Management Simulation Game created by Sameer Kamat (Founder of MBA Crystal Ball) to test and develop your Business Management Aptitude Potential (that explains the acronym!). With zero investment (apart from your time), it puts you in charge of a growing business and tries to test your aptitude for managing a startup.

There s no need to download software or customise open-source code. Just launch it and play. International management students are using it in the MBA classroom too.

    Testimonial

Nice introduction to the business issues

My MBA students are required to earn $5m+ operating profit by the end of the BizMAP game to earn 5% of their grade. It helps students gain an appreciation for the connection between elements in the value chain pricing/advertising (demand), production/employees (supply), and R D (productivity gains).

Dr. Steve Phelan. Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship MBA Director, Fayetteville State University (USA)

Good way for students to learn that strategic management is not a textbook lesson

The simulation helped the students to understand some of the concepts more vividly as they see them being played out in the game. The only issue was the restricted realism arising from the simplified industry dynamics programmed into the game. Overall, it was a good way to expose students that strategic management is not a textbook lesson.

Chong Chee-Leong. Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Strategy And Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Setup time is minimal. Within the limited scope, there s complexity.

I ve used Capstone and some Harvard simulations. The USP of BizMAP is that the setup time is minimal. It can be used as an introduction to business simulation for students with little or no experience to simulation. Even within the limited scope, there s complexity in the game as it involves multiple variables (production, marketing, R D, etc.)

Prof. Salman Ali. Business Policy and Strategy Department, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur

    BizMAP Context

BizCool, a fictitious technology startup that provides customized, high-end servers has just received the first round of venture capital funding. The VC investors saw potential in the business, but felt that the founder (a techie at heart, not a businessman) who has done a pretty good job with the basic product, wouldn t be able to scale it up.

That s why, on a strong referral, they got you onboard to take on the reins of the business.

Your mandate: As the CEO of the fledgling startup, you have signed an employment contract for 12 Quarters (3 years).

With the limited resources (money, people, time), you d be expected to take strategic and operational decisions across all the key departments Supply Chain, Human Resources, Marketing and Corporate Strategy. Your challenge is to not just keep the ship afloat, but also to help it reach new shores.

At the end of the tenure, the paranoid VC team will decide whether you stay hired or get fired!

    BizMAP Business Strategy Game Rules

You are taking over an existing business. That means you already have a team (4 employees), some sales and some cash (a million dollars) in hand.

When you start the game, analyze the operational and financial numbers before you take any decisions. This is depicted by Steps 1 2 in the image above.

You will need to take 5 decisions each quarter (as shown in Step 3 above). Not doing anything (i.e. entering zero in the input field) in a specific area is also a decision.

Decision 1: How many units to produce: Choose a range from 0 (nothing to produce) to the maximum production capacity for the company (defined by the number of employees).

Decision 2: How to price it: You can deviate 20% from the estimated industry price. Raising the price has an adverse impact on the market demand. And vice versa.

Decision 3: How much to spend on marketing: Without marketing you still have a mimimum demand. However, to scale up, you ll need to spend on advertising.

Decision 4: How many employees to hire/fire: Each new employee increases the quarterly production capacity by 20 units. But the salary costs go up as well.

Decision 5: How much to invest in product development: Investing in R D can yield a surprise over time, but only if the cumulative amount exceeds a certain threshold.

Submitting your decision takes the story forward by 1 quarter.

The game ends when you complete your contract (12 quarters) or the business becomes bankrupt (cash position goes to zero or negative), whichever is earlier. So keep an eye on the Cash position work towards increasing it.

A little about how the Supply Chain works

What you produce will not reach the market immediately. While the product moves through the supply chain, there are time delays as follows.

Once you place an order for the units, the underlying components have to be procured from the market (In-Transit phase). It takes 1 quarter for your vendors to deliver.

After the material reaches your company, your team assembles the end product (work in progress or WIP phase). You lose another quarter for this step.
Then the end product is moved to the warehouses / retailers (where it becomes Inventory ). Another quarter needed for this.
From the warehouse, the products can be shipped to customers immediately. There s no time delay here.

If you have enough quantity in your inventory, the relevant number of units are shipped out to the customers. If not, the backlog of orders keeps piling up and needs to be satiated in the subsequent quarters.

Similarly, decisions related to Hiring, Marketing, R D investments reflect in the next Quarter.

How to get better at the Business Strategy Game

In any Business Strategy Game, including BizMAP, you will not get it right in the first attempt. Play the game multiple times and try to refine your strategies and entrepreneurial skills with each attempt.

Learn a little more about the theoretical concepts behind the game in our Free MBA course .

Don t shy away from trying various business strategies (conservative aggressive scenarios). See how each business strategy impacts the end result.

If any of this isn t entirely clear, don t worry. Start the game and you ll soon get the hang of what s happening.

Alright, enough talk. Let s get into the action!

For academic or professional use: If you are a professor, trainer or university / company representative interested in using this game for your class, we can create an account with a customised user-interface specially for your brand for a nominal charge (and we ll take out the annoying social media lock). What does MBA stand for

In a nutshell, the MBA is a broad management programme aimed at professionals whereas other business masters courses cover a range of specialisms and offer more flexible entry. Essentially the MBA is still a master’s programme but it has become a stand-out qualification in the business world. It is often compared against other MSc and MA degrees in business as the programmes have similarities but there are differences between them in terms of focus, eligibility and personal development.

Masters courses such Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MSc) are traditional postgraduate qualifications which can be achieved in a huge range of subject areas. For business you can study a Masters in different disciplines; you’ll find broad degrees in business and management as well as specialist degrees in everything from brand management to entrepreneurship. If you want to develop your knowledge in a specific area of business then a Master’s degree is your best option. These are suitable for candidates who are at the early stages of their career path or for those graduates who would like to achieve a qualification at a higher level before stepping into the job market.

The MBA is a broader programme which is focused on developing management and leadership skills. You’ll study modules on the core business functions and look at how these units strategically work together. MBA stands for Master of Business Administration and the degree is designed to combine academic teaching with practical business experience. It is popular amongst senior managers and directors as a way to academically recognise their business experience.

Entry Requirements For A Masters In Business Administration

A prerequisite for studying the MBA is that candidates must have work experience at a strategic level. This differs from other masters programmes where students can join straight from university. Traditional masters will build on the undergraduate level of skills gained, so you do not need to have practical experience. Whereas the MBA requires students to draw on their business experience and undertake work-based projects.

Students applying for a Masters tend to be younger as more applicants study straight from university whereas the MBA will have a wider age range (usually aged 30 and above) reflecting senior business experience. The advantage of studying the MBA is that your classmates will be experienced professionals and this provides valuable networking opportunities.

    MBA Study Format

MBA degrees are aimed at working professionals so delivery of the degree is flexible. Full-time, part-time, distance learning and blended learning options are widely available. Masters programmes tend to be more rigid as they attract graduates who are looking to study full-time. Popular Masters programmes such as MSc Business Management are commonly available in different formats but you may struggle to find flexible study versions of more specialist courses.

Studying online is a convenient and popular option for postgraduate students. It enables professionals to stay in employment and study their degree part-time from home or work. The MBA is one of the most popular postgraduate courses to be studied via distance learning and UK courses attract students from all over the world. Due to advancements in technology this has enabled the classroom experience to be more effective. Online study is at a peak and you’ll receive the same level of teaching and support as you would expect to find on campus.

Which Business Masters Should You Choose?

It really depends on your level of experience and area of interest. If you have a set career specialism in mind, then the advantages of a Master’s degree often outweigh the more generic approach of the MBA. If you’re an experienced manager then the MBA’s focus on work-based projects and leadership will provide you with a new challenge which is beneficial to you and your organisation. Whichever course you choose you’ll be gaining a postgraduate level qualification that demonstrates a high-level of knowledge in your field.

“I would never haved ended up in my position, and I mean never, if I hadn’t taken the road through Anderson’s EMBA program. Doing so made all the difference in the trajectory of my career.”

“Before I came to Anderson, I was fluent in the language of medicine, but completely ignorant of the language of business. While one language is used to save lives, the other is used to change lives and I found them both extraordinary and necessary in my evolution as a physician and a surgeon.”

“I feel the UCLA Anderson School of Management appreciates me as a veteran and they value my military leadership and management experience.

“Had I not graduated from UCLA Anderson, I would not have been hired by Google in 2007. I would not have spent six years at Google leading parts of their advertising business. I would not be in my current position helping to build Twitter’s advertising business. In short, I would not have the career I have today.”

“Through the network of students, professors and alumni, I have been thoroughly impressed with their total willingness to mentor and develop any opportunities I am pursuing.”

“Challenging material, thought-provoking discussions and high-caliber classmate talent have inspired me to push limits and rethink what is possible in business.”

“EMBA introduced me to more companies, functions and verticals than I ever anticipated. Since my classmates are at such high levels, these contacts (and friends) have become invaluable!”

    Statement of Purpose – MBA

Studying for an MBA requires a certain determination and strength of character. In recent years, the business world has become rapidly integrated across once restricting borders, and anyone with high goals in the business world must have an international perspective and be aware of the realities of different international arenas. I am unique, and uniquely fortunate, to have a diverse background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different continents, peoples, cultures, and languages. As a native of Asia, I am familiar with the increasingly important markets of this region, and as such I am thoroughly prepared for the demands and challenges presented by undertaking study in the MBA program at your institution.

From a young age, I set goals beyond those of my peers. I decided to pursue a Bachelor s degree in International Hotel Management, but in recognition of the limitation of programs in this field in my native country, I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree in Europe. The international hotel management course I joined was run by Goodwell University in the UK, and due to the experience of the instructors and the overall sophistication of the program, I received an incredibly valuable learning experience, beyond that which I could have received elsewhere. My undergraduate coursework at Goodwell University focused on management marketing, accounting, and various aspects of tourism. I received broad business-based education while immersing myself in European culture and language on a daily basis. As a result, I am confident in my ability to adapt to your environment and join your MBA program.

After graduation from Goodwell University, I returned to my native country, but the limitations of the rapidly growing domestic hotel industry quickly became apparent to me. I therefore sought employment in a different field in which I could better utilize my skills. I began working in the Marketing Department of Makebest Textile Company, where I learned how to control costs, devise marketing strategies, and develop lasting relationships with customers. I am currently working as the Assistant Sales Manager in this company, responsible for the development of overseas customers and analyses of sales goals.

After more than three years in this company, I am confident working in a fast-paced international business environment. However, during these years I have encountered numerous obstacles and unforeseen challenges. Therefore, after careful consideration, I decided that further study in an MBA program would be not only useful, but perhaps essential in developing my career potential and providing me with greater opportunities for future success.

My career path has led me from the rapidly developing markets of my native country in Asia to the rolling hills of England and back again. Now, I feel that the next logical destination on my path is your MBA program. The curriculum of your MBA program is similar to that which I studied previously, yet it is much more challenging and will allow me to develop my abilities further. I already have a strong background in various aspects of business, from marketing and management to accounting and sales. Because of this, I feel I am uniquely qualified to attend your MBA program.

After completion of my studies, I plan to return to Makebest Textile Company and apply what I learn in your program to the benefit of the company. Within five years after graduating, I expect to have developed a successful career that I can be proud of. I believe that my past shows a steady yet rapid progression through the business world, and I am eager to continue that progression by enrolling in your MBA program. Thank you for your time and consideration.

How Much Does A Top MBA Degree Cost?

    by: John A. Byrne on January 08, 2011 | 70 Comments 472,081 Views

What’s the most expensive two-year MBA program you can take? You might be surprised to learn it isn’t Harvard or Stanford, or Wharton or Chicago, or Dartmouth or Yale. Instead, priciest MBA is being sold by Columbia Business School. Columbia estimates that the cost of its two-year, full-time MBA program in New York is a whopping $168,307.

Harvard Business School Dean Nitin Nohria said earlier this week that the cost of a Harvard MBA is less than several other top rivals. “We are at the middle of the pack when it comes to the top ten schools,” he said in a wide-ranging interview with The Financial Times. By the estimates of the total cost of the degree posted on business school websites, he s actually being somewhat conservative. Harvard comes in as the seventh most expensive MBA program among the top 20 U.S. business schools.

Not only is Columbia number one, but the school Columbia also ends up on another extreme end of this list of premium-priced degrees. Columbia reports the lowest percentage of MBA students who are receiving financial aid from the school just 55%, well below the 81% at Duke, the 80% at Dartmouth, or the 75% at Stanford.

The total cost of the Columbia program includes two years worth of tuition, fees, books, and the estimated costs to live in New York City. But as often is the case, these numbers are often conservative. Yale’s School of Managment makes clear that its esimates assume a “modest lifestyle.” Cornell informs applicants on its website that its estimate of $11,250 a year for living expenses is “based on the cost of sharing a moderately priced apartment” at a cost of $700 a month rent and putting aside $425 a month for food.

Most MBAs at elite schools will find it hard to live on that budget, especially in New York, Boston, Chicago, or San Francisco. Indeed, perhaps to make these estimates more believable to applicants, Cornell goes out of its way to note, “It is much easier to live like a student when you are a student than to live like a student when you are earning $90,000 annually. If you were to reduce your student loans from $50,000 to $40,000 you would save approximately $121 per month in student loan payments.”

TOTAL COST ESTIMATES ARE VERY CONSERVATIVE.

In almost all cases, these “total cost” numbers taken from the school’s websites are very conservative estimates. Wharton’s $168,000 pricetag, for example, fails to include the cost of its Global Immersion Program, which ranges from $5,800 to $7,800, or the inevitable cost to join clubs, attend conferences and “parties,” which Wharton estimates at $860 a year. Those two omissions alone add 6% to the total cost estimate of an MBA degree. Stanford’s estimate of the total cost of its MBA degree doesn’t include a required “global study tour” which costs about $4,000. In most cases, you can expect the total cost estimate to be 10% to 20% higher, given your lifestyle preferences and desire to take full advantage of the MBA experience.

The costs of non-U.S. MBA programs can vary widely, especially because in Europe one-year programs are especially popular. London Business School s 21-month MBA program looks like a bargain if you believe the estimate: $134,152, with $77,854 of that going to pay tuition. The accelerated 10-month MBA program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, costs just $102,714 (with about $73,000 of that for tuition). Of course, that s the estimate from INSEAD for living expenses, food, and travel. Could you live in France on $30,000 over those ten months? Perhaps if you lived in a trailer or a tent.

What can you deduce from the costs of these top MBA programs and the amount of financial aid for students arranged by their schools? The least expensive program is at the University of Texas at Austin. At a total cost of $127,144 more than $40,000 less than a Columbia MBA it looks like a true bargain for a top degree. Then, add in the fact that the school is helping 75% of its MBAs with financial aid versus Columbia’s 55% and it seems as if it is a very smart investment, indeed.

The most expensive public university in the MBA game is surprisingly UCLA. Higher ranked B-schools at Berkeley, Michigan and Virginia are less expensive in total costs than the Anderson school in Los Angeles largely because of the highest cost of living in L.A. than Berkeley, Ann Arbor, or Charlottesville.

The most generous school in terms of financial aid? MIT Sloan. The school puts together the largest average financial aid packages of the top schools: $130,418. That’s more than $15,000 more than Columbia and more than twice the size of Berkeley’s $67,052 (the lowest amount reported by any of our top 20 schools). Be aware, however, that financial aid is a rather vague phrase to describe a package of financial help. You don’t know how much of this money is merely a loan or a scholarship or fellowship.

HARVARD GIVING STUDENTS MORE THAN $20 MILLION A YEAR IN FELLOWSHIPS.

Such fellowships typically used to lure exceptional students or to help students on the basis of financial need can significantly lower the price tag of an MBA. Harvard effectively discounts the sticker price of its MBA by paying out some $22 million a year in fellowship money. HBS says that nearly half of every MBA class receives an average of some $25,000 per year in need-based HBS Fellowships that are granted only on the basis of financial need and not academic merit. The school makes these awards based on an analysis of an applicant s income for the prior three years as well as the applicant s assets.

what s the difference between total cost of program and two year tuition here?

Silly comment. That s a deliberate spelling. Gosh

Wait you think that $30,000 is only enough to live in France for 10 months if you lived in trailers or tents. I m going to take a wild guess and say you ve never been to France. You can live very well on $1500 per month as a student there, and even cheaper if you re careful and make sacrifices. It is business school, there is no need for champagne and caviar every night

You really don t think $3,000 / month is enough to live in France? Haha

Harvard Business School is among the most generous business schools in the world. Each year the school provides $31.5 million in fellowship grants to its 1,800 MBA students. If you can get admitted to HBS, you stand a very good chance of receiving a fairly large financial aid package. We published an entire series of stories on scholarships at business schools, the most extensive reporting on the subject ever done, including advice on how to get one and how much money each school has. Am interested in studying my MBA in Harvard on completing my degree here in Kenya but the charges are high.As a foreign student am I entitled for financial assistance?

Where do you work and what do you do??

If I give you 200K right now as opposed to doing an MBA in the top 10 US schools, which would mean more to you( Think objectively)? Use time value of money, a concept you can easily learn not only in the Top 10 US MBA but any good book of the library shelf.

People say the true value of MBA is networking. Would you pay 200K for your networks? Really?

If its knowledge your argument falls apart, because all you need is 10K to buy all the books used in the business school, even better enrol yourself in a phD program free of cost and learn for the next 5 years on leading research in management field of your choice.

Outside of US, no one recognises the MBA the same way. So, if you are considering returning to Asia where the most of the growth is right now, your US MBA is not worth much. In fact any MBA is not worth much. And why should it?

More and more students in Asia are becoming smarter and doing the MBA part time. Remember Satyan Nadella did his MBA part time. The advantage of part time MBA, is you prove you can multi task more efficiently than full time guys.

My solution to those who are super desperate to be on the MBA bandwagon: 1) Do it part time 2) If you don t land a top 10 US program. do an ultra cheap one (don t settle for Europe MBAs or anything else)

Looking forward to your comments .

You no how the system works..
yep you certainly are an MBA graduate who can t even spell KNOW properly.

    Online MBA Programs in Texas

With the booming millennial population in Texas, an online MBA is a growing choice for the state s younger demographic. In 2012, two Texas schools – Texas A M-Corpus Christi and UT Pan American – launched online MBA programs to help address the needs of this student base, joining nearly two dozen other institutions offering online MBA programs in Texas. Both of these brand-new, AACSB-accredited programs can be completed in as few as 12 months and are designed with working professionals in mind who are seeking to advance their careers in any number of fields. Both brick-and-mortar campuses are also located in the South Texas Border Region and are designated as Hispanic-serving institutions, meaning they assist a majority of first-generation, low-income Hispanic students.

The University of Texas System Online Consortium pools together the university system s online degrees and courses. Through this network, students have access to graduate and undergraduate degree programs and courses from eight of the 15 University of Texas System institutions. All programs can be completed entirely at a distance. UT Pan American is one of four schools that participate in the consortium s Master of Business Administration Online program. It is joined by two degree-granting institutions – UT Brownsville and UT Permian Basin – and one institution – UT San Antonio – that contributes courses. This program pools the resources of these four institutions, granting students access to a statewide team of professors. Students can choose from a general management degree or a general management degree with finance emphasis.

    Master of Business Administration

    About the MBA Program

Total Semester Credit Hours = 36

The basic objective of the master of business administration (MBA) degree program is to offer individuals an opportunity to develop corporate leadership ability in an increasingly complex and dynamic global society by enhancing their knowledge, managerial skill and perspective. The broad, integrated curriculum provides the student with an opportunity to gain understanding of the major facets of multinational business operations in a competitive environment.

The program includes work in the theoretical foundations of business, quantitative controls, decision-making, the development of advanced functional skills, and the global and ethical environment of business. An opportunity is also provided for a limited degree of specialization.

The program is a non-thesis program designed for graduates from recognized colleges of business as well as graduates in liberal arts, science, engineering or other fields desiring to undertake professional studies in the area of business administration.

Degree: MBA (Online and On-campus Options Available)

Business Administration MBA Degree: 16-Week Terms

Business Administration MBA Degree: Accelerated 7 Week Terms – Online Only

    General Graduate Admission Requirements

    • Apply online.
    • Pay the application fee.
    • Submit official and unofficial transcripts to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
    • Admission to the degree program is determined primarily on the basis of predictors of success in graduate study:
      • a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution,
      • grade point average computed on the last 60 undergraduate hours and
      • a satisfactory score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). In rare instances the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) may be accepted in lieu of the GMAT.
    • Submit official or unofficial GMAT scores to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
    • Applicants with three or more years of extensive managerial work experience earned in the US or with a US governmental entity may request to have the GMAT requirement waived by the Graduate Coordinator. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis; “extensive managerial experience” will typically mean a full-time supervisory or managerial position held for a significant period of time after completing the bachelor’s degree as demonstrated with a resume.
    • There are additional requirements for international students such as a detailed international transcript evaluation which determines an applicant’s degree comparability to a US bachelor’s degree (UT Tyler does NOT evaluate international transcripts).

    MBA Additional Admission Requirements

    Leveling Courses

There are no leveling courses for admission, and the program is open to applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. However, MATH 1342 – Elementary Statistics is highly recommended prior to MANA 5305 (see degree plan).

    GMAT Scores

Successful applicants have an index score figured as follows:

    Last 60 hour GPA x 200 + Total GMAT Score = 1000
If a student’s last 60 hour GPA = 3.25 or higher, the GMAT is waived.

Provisionally accepted students may enroll in one semester for a maximum of nine hours before being required to submit a GMAT score. After this semester is completed, a hold will be placed on a student’s account until GMAT scores are submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Subject to approval by the coordinator of graduate programs and the dean of the College of Business and Technology, students may transfer up to nine hours of graduate credit earned at an approved university.

    Greater Good
    Effective Organizations
    Individual Integrity

Tell us about an experience in which you lived out one of those values.

    Essay Option #2
The University of Notre Dame was founded in 1842, by Father Edward Sorin, C.S.C, with a mission to become “one of the most powerful means for doing good in this country”. In 1879, Father Sorin’s vision for Notre Dame appeared to be at a sudden, abrupt end. A massive fire destroyed the building that housed virtually the entire University. Instead of giving up, Father Sorin interpreted the fire as a sign that he had dreamed too small, and decided to rebuild, bigger and better than ever. That Main Building still stands today, topped by the gleaming Golden Dome, not only as an iconic campus building, but as an ongoing symbol of perseverance and vision.

Tell us the story of a time in your own life or career when you had to overcome an obstacle, start over, or rebuild.

    Essay Option #3
We seek students who will become active, engaged members of our student body. Tell us about how you were able to make an impact at your alma mater, in your workplace, or in your community.

Overview of an MBA and a Master’s Degree Program

Master’s-level programs may include programs in business, engineering, education and healthcare. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is a kind of master’s degree program that concentrates on refining general management competencies with an emphasis on business skills, such as accounting or employee relations.

    Undergraduate Degree Requirements

Master’s degree programs often demand undergraduate degrees within the same field of study for admission, while a student pursuing an MBA may complete undergraduate studies in a major other than business. In a 2006 Bloomberg Business article, it was noted that graduate schools encourage students to seek liberal arts or science bachelor’s degrees before enrolling in an MBA program. Some of the best business schools in the U.S. do not include a business major for bachelor’s degrees, instead advocating a broader undergraduate education.

    Options for Program Graduates

Typically, students treat MBA degree programs as terminal degrees, using the program to further a career or seek higher wages. Many graduates continue on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy program. Professionals starting out in a particular career may find pursuing a master’s degree in the field more advantageous to their jobs than an MBA.

A graduate degree program can provide greater knowledge and advanced training, and those with a master’s or MBA may demand a higher salary than an employee with just an undergraduate degree. Depending on the student’s career path, returning for an MBA degree to learn specialized management skills may lead to more career opportunities.

    Introduction

Dedicated to Christian values and a high standard of academic excellence and success, Pepperdine University is a place that strengthens and prepares students for lives of service, leadership, and purpose. The vision of Pepperdine is to become a global, preeminent, Christian university that is identified by its integration of faith and learning, whose graduates enter the world prepared to lead purposeful lives as strong leaders with a heart towards service. The first president of the university, George Pepperdine, had a vision to start a higher education institution that would transform students’ lives to impact the culture around them.

The university is focused on meeting five strategic goals: advancing learning, knowledge, and scholarship; developing resources; building community; respecting diversity and promoting global understanding; and honoring God and heritage. The progress in meeting these goals is determined by the success of the academics, students, and reputation. In keeping with their goal of advancing learning, developing resources, and promoting global understanding, Pepperdine announced the addition of an online version of their MBA program for the working professionals.

    Accreditation

Pepperdine University is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and has received specialized accreditation for their business school (Graziadio School) by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) to award their MBA degrees and other business degrees.

    Academics

Working professionals who are interested in advancing their career and education with an MBA degree can apply to Pepperdine University for enrollment in the new online program. Pepperdine is accepting applications for January 2013, which is when the first class will start. Students pursuing the MBA program online will receive a fully accredited Master’s of Business Administration degree from a business school that has more than 40 years of experience in providing an education focused on responsible business practice. The program is built around core values, is globally focused, and infused with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Motivated students can complete the entire online MBA program in as little as six semesters – or two years – with a 12-unit concentration in finance, marketing, or leadership. The curriculum is made up of 52 semester units of course work online. The program creates a solid foundation of current management and business theory and practice, gives an in-depth understanding of the impacts of globalization, competition, ethics, and technological innovation in the workplace. Most of the class assignments will require continuous application of newly learned knowledge and skills in the students’ professional lives to cement the education.

    Admission

Students interested in enrolling in Pepperdine University’s online MBA degree program must have previously acquired a bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA), an acceptable GMAT or GRE score, and at least two years of professional work experience to be considered for admission.

Although the exact details for admission requirements have yet to be posted on Pepperdine’s website, the MBA programs generally include a requirement for official transcripts and personal recommendations (from the student’s supervisor or qualified individual who can assess your ability to complete graduate level course work) along with the application for admission. The applications usually require essays, an organization chart, and a resume.

    Tuition and Financial Aid

Pepperdine University charges tuition based on per-unit pricing. Tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year for the fully-employed MBA program is $1,670. Pepperdine lists the base program cost for a two year completion of the MBA program at approximately $86,840.

Pepperdine recommends students investigate financial aid opportunities such as scholarships, company reimbursement, payment plans, veterans’ benefits, and federal grants. The Graziadio School offers merit-based scholarships to eligible students for cumulative GPA, GMAT or GRE score, and professional work experience. These are awarded at the time of admittance to the program. In addition, the government provides three primary types of financial aid to students: Federal Direct Stafford loans, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loan, and alternative educational loans.

Students interested in company reimbursement should check with their human resources to determine whether or not the company they work for provides any funding to cover employee educational costs. Otherwise, the Graziadio School gives students three options for payment plans to spread out the cost of tuition over time: single payment, two payment, and three payment options per trimester. This can be especially beneficial to working adults who might have additional financial obligations, such as a family. Whatever financial aid options apply to the student, Pepperdine is committed to finding a reasonable solution to tuition costs and aiding students in achieving their academic goals.

    School Resources

WaveNet is Pepperdine University’s online center for all online student activity. This is where students can easily access a variety of academic tools including career services, campus news, information regarding important activities, (such as registration), email, computer assistance, and searching departments. Students will need to set up an account with WaveNet and obtain a network ID and password in order to access this resource hub.
