By: Rebecca Byers – Feb 1, 2016

In addition to saving on the costly rent fees associated with a fixed location, mobile businesses have the option of following the crowd and meeting their users where they are instead of asking them to come to you.

The Uprooted Flower Truck is a New York City-based mobile florist that makes access to high-quality floral arrangements an on-demand service. The truck was founded on the idea that by not having a permanent location, the business was avoiding the daunting reality of high New York City rents in the interest of passing on those savings to consumers.

Meanwhile, Tell a Story is a roaming bookstore that takes its impressive library with it on the road. The vibrant blue and white vehicle is a tourism project in Portugal that aims to make Portuguese literature more accessible to tourists.

Sale of sports business, a positive for Zee: The Hindu Business Line

#zee business

#

Zee Entertainment Enterprises has decided to sell its sports business (TEN Sports channels) to Sony Pictures Networks India and its affiliates for $385 million.

The sale will help Zee exit its loss-making sports broadcasting business, which contributed ₹631 crore (about 11 per cent) to its consolidated revenue in 2015-16.

The sports business incurred a net loss of ₹37 crore, against a profit of ₹1,027 crore from consolidated operations during the year.

It was in 2006 that Zee acquired a 50 per cent stake (raised subsequently) each in Taj TV, Mauritius, which owns TEN Sports channels, and in Taj Television India, the distribution arm of TEN Sports in India.

A report from Ambit Capital shows that the sports business has incurred losses at the operating level in all years except one since 2005-06.

This is in sharp contrast to the company’s profitable general entertainment channel (GEC) broadcasting business.

Zee has a strong foothold in the Hindi and regional languages GEC space, which forms a chunk of the TV viewership base. Even as it is exiting the sports genre, it is looking at expanding its presence in the regional GEC space (Tamil Nadu, for instance). In January, it acquired Sarthak TV, a leading GEC in Odisha.

TEN Sports has the broadcast rights to the events organised by the cricketing boards of five countries, including South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan, as also to other non-cricket events such as wrestling, football and tennis.

But, it does not have the broadcasting rights for some lucrative events such as the cricket matches organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, thereby impacting the company’s subscription revenue from this business.

Top 20 Most Useful Mobile Business Apps For 2015

Looking for the best apps to serve your needs as a marketer? Columnist Aaron Strout rounds up his top picks for personal productivity, travel and more.

Aaron Strout on April 30, 2015 at 9:10 am

During the last two years, I ve annually dedicated one of the 12 mobile marketing articles I write for Marketing Land to covering some of the most useful mobile business apps available.

My methodology isn t scientific. I use a mixture of my own experiences along with some crowd-sourced suggestions from a narrow group of friends entrepreneurs, business leaders, and in general, people who tend to spend a lot of time on the road.

Of course, there are a ton more apps that I could cover. But the goal here is to give you ideas for some useful apps that you should consider adding to your smartphone.

While this article veers slightly from my regular focus of delivering insights to marketers specifically interested in mobile and location-based technologies, there is a greater point to make here: As someone who has pushed marketers to think long and hard about the need for a mobile app. the list below should serve as a good example of technologies that are serving the simple to complex needs of business people.

If as a marketer you re considering developing an app for your company, I would encourage you to take a look at several of the examples listed below, as many have become fan favorites based on their excellent user experience and intrinsic usefulness.

As in previous years, the apps are bucketed by category. One addition I made this year is that I split Productivity into Personal and Enterprise, as a host of more enterprise-focused apps like Asana, Trello, Salesforce and Jira have started to go mainstream. I also collapsed Internal Collaboration Apps into this category.

The last tweak I made was to fold the Mapping/GPS category into Travel, as these two categories overlap quite a bit.

One last item to call out over the last three years, Evernote is consistently one of the highest vote-getters. Last year, it received 19 mentions. This year, it only received six. But given the fact that it has been around for eight years, it has impressive staying power.

Personal Productivity Apps

  • Concur – a repeat from last year s list, but this expense-reporting tool got several mentions this year as a favorite. Ironically, the kudos for this app was on the expense-tracking side versus travel booking which is one of the main features of the online service.
  • Expensify it s hard to argue with an app that describes itself as expense reports that don t suck. This app provides easy scanning of receipts and categorizing of trips with a clean and intuitive UI.
  • Evernote not new, but this note-taking/collaboration app continues to be a fan favorite. Note: There is now a premium version of this service as well.

Enterprise Productivity/Internal Collaboration Apps

  • Jira definitely more geared toward geeks versus marketers, this issue and software tracking tool is becoming more and more prevalent as everything becomes digital and mobile.
  • Asana an email-less project management tool similar to Basecamp. Having the ability to access tools like this is becoming increasingly important.
  • Confluence another collaboration software tool also by Atlassian. (Jira is also owned by Atlassian.)
  • Trello self-described as the free, flexible, and visual way to organize anything with anyone.
  • Slack team communication platform that is searchable and can be segmented by hashtags. It is a powerful tool once you understand how to use it, but the UI isn t completely intuitive.

Travel/Mapping Apps

  • Uber continues to be the go-to travelers best friend, but additional crowd services like Lyft and Sidecar are starting to eat into its market share after the foot-in-mouth PR debacle by Uber s CEO last year. All three services are geo-aware, thus enabling one to summon a car near one s location.
  • Car2Go this company makes renting a car for two hours or two days easy, all through the mobile app. Pickup and drop-off points are all over San Diego, Austin, Portland, Ore. and other cities where the service is available.
  • Localeur want to experience a new city like a local? Similar to Foursquare and Yelp, this app uses crowd-sourced suggestions by locals to serve as a virtual tour guide.

Communication Apps

  • MobileDay for those who find themselves on a steady stream of conference calls on their mobile phone, this app makes one-click dialing a snap.
  • GoToMeeting – this made last year s list as well. The updated version is not only good, fast and reliable, but also makes one-click dialing that much simpler for those always on the go.

Mapping/GPS Apps

  • Google Maps this app continues to get smarter thanks to Google s 2013 acquisition of Waze. Similar to INRIX (disclosure: INRIX is a WCG client), these apps are now using drivers as sensors to detect accidents and other slowdowns in real time.

Mobile Payments/Wallet Apps

  • Apple Pay this app/service has added the ease of paying with one s phone thanks to the NFC chip in all iPhone 6 and 6 Pluses. Add the biometric login from a security feature, and you have a winning combination. The fact that Apple partnered with Visa, MasterCard and Amex right out of the chute was also brilliant. You can read more about this killer app here .

Contact Management/Business Social Networks Apps

  • LinkedIn this might seem to be another surprise since the site itself has been around for nearly 10 years. However, the mobile app, which in the past was described by some as horrible, has been majorly upgraded in the last 12 to 18 months and is now fast and much more useful.

News/Entertainment Apps

  • HBO Go while this may seem like a stretch as a business app, for the frequent traveler, having access in one s hotel room to favorite movies and shows is a nice perk.
  • Chromecast more than just an entertainment streaming app, this tool also allows for wireless screen-casting from laptops and tablets to any television or display monitor with an HDMI port (physical Chromecast device also required).

Social Media

  • Snapseed while this could easily be under a photo editing category, it s one of two suggested apps that allow for quick and easy photo editing for brands that are regular posters to Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.
  • Wordswag also for the heavy business Instagram users, this easy tool allows for on-the-fly creation of word art and type over images.

It is worth noting that while I got fewer recommendations this year, the ones I did receive overlapped more than in past years. Also worth noting is that mentions of many of the social media management tools dropped off save for some image/video editing recommendations.

Some opinions expressed in this article may be those of a guest author and not necessarily Marketing Land. Staff authors are listed here .

Best Mobile Business Simulation Games

Best Mobile Business Simulation Games

Picture 1 of 14

The mobile gaming revolution has brought just about every gaming genre — from first person shooters to war games and empire builders — to our smartphones and tablets. But not all games are about battle and conflict, with some tapping into the constructive side of your inner gamer. Business simulations, city builders and other management games let you unleash your inner mogul. Found your own mega-corporation, build a town from the ground up, or sail the high seas in search of fortune with these 12 business and management games for your mobile device.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (iOS) ($4.99)

Picture 2 of 14

Can’t make it to your favorite theme park for the spring break? No vacation leave banked up for the near future? Well, you can still have a bit of vicarious theme park fun with Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. an iOS game that has you in charge of a theme park, managing its attractions, designing rides and keeping your visitors happy. You can even take a virtual ride on your roller coasters and rides. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a full premium game, which means no pesky timers and in-app purchases to get between you and the fun.

Brass (Android, iOS)

Picture 3 of 14

A mobile port of the hit eurogame, Brass (Android. iOS ) has players taking on the role of rival industrial magnates building up their many businesses, mines and factories in a newly industrializing England. Every turn, players play cards to either build or develop industries, build rail or canal connections between locations, or take on loans, jockeying for position with other players and attempting to take advantage of their own moves. The mobile version of the boardgame features a detailed tutorial, as well as numerous features to smooth gameplay. Players can engage in local or network multiplayer games with three to four players, or pit themselves against a moderately challenging AI.

Hipster CEO (iOS) ($1.99)

Picture 4 of 14

Hipster CEO is a tongue-in-cheek parody of the startup world that puts you in the shoes of a budding entrepreneur making your way in the world. Players start out by selecting a product (such as mobile gaming, dating apps or file sharing) as well as a target market, and then you get a small amount of seed capital and an employee, and then it’s up to you to get the ball rolling. As your startup evolves, you can hire more staff and specialists, train your personnel or spruce up the office and more, all while keeping an eye on the bottom line, while courting venture capital or holding out for buyout.

Game Dev Story

Picture 5 of 14

Just as it says in the title, Game Dev Story (Android. iOS ) gives players the opportunity to craft their own story as a game developer. Granted, the “story” basically involves assigning staff members to craft a video game with stats driving the results. But it’s still fairly addictive, especially if you possess some knowledge of the video game industry and its history. This inside baseball element gives the game a lot of appeal, but what keeps you playing is that eager anticipation of results: waiting to see what your staff puts out and the fulfillment of critical praise (or the disappointment of a critical drubbing).

Transport Tycoon (Android, iOS) ($6.99)

Picture 6 of 14

Even with the addition of a modern touch UI, this is not exactly the most attractive game on our list. However, if you give it a fair shake, Transport Tycoon (Android. iOS ) will consume whole afternoons. With a business loan you need to pay soon, you’ll start buying vehicles and setting up the infrastructure on your journey to become the emperor of land, sea and air travel. Each level is a scenario with its own transportation problems to solve, but also act as open sandboxes to indulge in. If you love the freedom to experiment and have an obsession with details, Transport Tycoon is for you.

Fiz: Brewery Management Game (Android, iOS) ($1.99)

Picture 7 of 14

Beer aficionados will work up a mighty thirst with Fiz: Brewery Management Game (Android. iOS ). As head of your own micro-brewery, you start out with a tiny operation selling small batches to local stores. As you grow in experience and develop new brewing recipes, you can make a name for yourself in brewing competitions, discover larger markets and improve your facilities and staff. Behind the cute pixelated exterior and the monotonous chiptune is a decent stat engine that allows you to fiddle with the quality of your beer, track sales figures and feedback, and run market research in your quest to become a powerhouse brewery.

Cook, Serve, Delicious (Android, iOS) ($3.99/$4.99)

Picture 8 of 14

A different take on the business sim genre, Cook, Serve, Delicious! (Android. iOS ) demands business savvy and nimbleness. As the manager of an up and coming restaurant in a rundown business tower, you’ll serve and prepare food, flush toilets, wash dishes and more. In between opening hours, you’ll be buying food, upgrading equipment and improving your restaurant. ‘Menu rot’ will require you to keep things fresh by rotating items in and out of the menu. And when the day starts, you’ll be swiping meat cuts, tapping ingredients and pressing down drink levers. Cook, Serve, Delicious serves up a variety of things to do to make for a business sim that’s never dull.

Wizards Wagons (Android, iOS) ($4.99)

Picture 9 of 14

Ancient evils have been defeated and peace has returned to the land. As the land’s resident Hero, you’re now out of a job, and the only way to make a living is to buy low and sell high. Wizards Wagons (Android. iOS ) is a tongue-in-cheek combination of trading game, tower defense and RPG as players travel through the land’s many settlements in order to buy and sell goods, upgrade their wagon and gear, and take on odd jobs and quests from the world’s many strange inhabitants. Besides the trading, players have to manage space on their wagons, as well as fend off attacks by bandits and monsters as they travel down the road to wealth.

Star Traders RPG (Android, iOS) (Free)

Picture 10 of 14

Following in the tradition of games like Elite and Privateer, the Trese brothers’ Star Traders RPG (Android. iOS ) sees you as an interstellar merchant trying to earn a buck through honest trading or pawning the loot you win from fighting other ships. The game is nominally an RPG with its level-based accumulation of character abilities and turn-based space combat. Still, it’s the galactic economy that forms the game’s meat and potatoes. It’s a unique combination that will have you shooting and looting for a long time, despite the game ‘s lack of audio and visual polish .

A Story of A Band (Android, iOS) ($2.57/$1.99)

Picture 11 of 14

A Story of A Band (Android. iOS ) casts you as a disgruntled musician looking to gain revenge against other bands by becoming a band manager. By imparting your rocking wisdom to young musicians, you hope to show everyone up. The game is more in depth than you’d expect. You recruit band members, choose a music style and invest a lot of time and money in improving skills and purchasing gear long before you can start being even recognized by the press. Sustaining the kind of momentum you need to get big is challenging, but battles with other bands is the most rewarding chunk of this game.

Football Manager Mobile 2016 (Android, iOS) ($8.99)

Picture 12 of 14

As much a business sim as it is a sports game, Sega’s Football Manager Mobile 2016 (Android. iOS ) puts you in the manager’s seat rather than right on the pitch, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less challenging than any tycoon game. Players will need to carefully manage their personnel and roster, deciding on coaching styles, configure your team’s tactics, all while trying to please fans and owners, as well as keeping an eye on funding and the bottom line. A more detailed (and pricier) version, Football Manager Touch 2016 (Android. iOS ), includes a more advanced match engine, more features, and cross-platform saves between the desktop and mobile versions.

The Westport Independent

Picture 13 of 14

Taking inspiration from Papers Please, The Westport Independent (Android. iOS ) is both a political parable and business sim that puts you behind the editor’s desk of a newspaper carefully dancing the fine line between telling the truth, selling newspapers, and appeasing the censors of the Loyalist Party. Each week, players choose a variety of stories to feature, as well as edit their content to make it more palatable, appealing, accurate or salacious. Once you’ve set your layout, fixed your advertising, and sent it to the presses, sit back and pay attention to how your staff writers react, as well as check out the mail, propaganda, and thinly-veiled threats from censors and readers. Can you avoid being shut down by the Loyalists? And can you shape the fate of Westport with the power of the news?

How to Enable Video Calls on AT T Google Hangout App

The recent release of Google s own version of Mobile Messenger includes all types of mobile communications while completely replacing Google Talk. Featuring video call supports along with others, Google Hangout app has an exception for AT T Samsung Galaxy S4 users. If you are an AT T user and want to use the app over cellular data, you will end up getting a message which asks you to connect to a WiFi network otherwise you cannot use the app.

According to AT T s official statement about the matter, the owners of Android devices who have installed the app after the purchase of the device can use it via both the cellular network and WiFi connectivity. However, if an app comes pre-installed on the device like Google Hangouts as it s replacing the G Talk then the customer can avail it via WiFi or has to be on the Mobile Share option from AT T. This way AT T is actually preventing some of the bandwidth being eaten up.

For video chat apps that come pre-loaded on devices, we offer all OS and device makers the ability for those apps to work over cellular for our customers who are on Mobile Share, Tiered and soon Unlimited plan customers who have LTE devices. It’s up to each OS and device makers to enable their systems to allow pre-loaded video chat apps to work over cellular for our customers on those plans.

But the solution to this restriction is already here thanks to those awesome devs for both the rooted and unrooted devices. Following are the two ways to enable video calls on at t Google Hangout app.

Top Mobile App Development Companies

Whenever you come up with an idea of an award-winning app, you will need to search for a reputable mobile app development company. With so many offers available on the web, some may find it rather hard to choose trustworthy specialists to implement your ideas. Here are some key points you need to consider when looking for app development companies. Choosing the wrong agency or development team may result in delays, bad operation and inability to deliver your application to end users. We offer a selection of professional companies in the niche featuring mobile app development reviews, companies’ descriptions, ratings and other useful information. You need to know this information to get the best designer app as soon as you need.

How to Choose Good App Development Companies?

It may seem to be a very tough process. The company you are going to rely on should be flawless, as it may work with big money of yours. It has to understand all your desires and expectations concerning the application, the nature and environment of business you work in and the mentality of your existing and future customers. Working out a good mobile solution for business and entertainment is only the first step. The key to success is to find a skillful and professional partner. You can benefit from reviews about mobile app development companies as one of the good information sources. Our website is aimed at making your life as easy as possible offering a range of independent developers, established companies and app development agencies. You will have an opportunity to evaluate each of them and compare all pros and cons of your potential partner.

On Time Delivery. Hitting the deadline is of main priority. The ability to deliver the product on time defines the level of professionalism. You will hardly appreciate delays resulting in money loss. This point may be very essential for both sides of the market. If you are a reseller, missing the deadlines will damage your own business and reputation. For those who seek to create apps for themselves, the missed deadline may turn into huge money loss and clients’ distrust.

Customers’ References. We recommend checking with portfolios and reviews by previous customers. They reveal previous branches and operation areas as well as the results of collaboration. As you know, every piece of information may be engaged, but not the customer’s reviews. Only real people’s opinions may save you from the big mistake. This is very important for the app designing branch, as the whole business concerns real people and customers who will deal with the application.

Operation Area. Many companies deliver their services from different parts of the world including Europe, India and Asia. The best bet is to choose a partner that is next to you. It will let developers meet the requirements of the target audience. A company which is aimed to develop mobile applications has to be nearby, as it has to operate with same mentality and preference clusters in order to get the application that meets all the goals.

The level of Expertise. It is obvious that if the company plays on the international online market, it should contain only from professionals, the masters of their work. We would advice the following steps in order to get to real handymen. Keep in touch with specialists who will work on your app. Find out who will proceed with design, development, promotion and other fields if necessary. Some specialists share their duties with less experienced developers and engineers, which is hardly a plus for the result.

App Development Process. As a rule, an experienced company sticks to its own development process. It is supposed to have a fixed structure available to the customer. Check with all stages of the process to ensure it fits your requirements. Another advice – a company which claims to be handy enough to design mobile programs and applications should firstly show all its experience on its site or application. Check the front page of this company. If you like it, it may do well for you.

Learn More about App Developers

Our website is a huge database of some leading app developers in spite of their operation field and area. We proceed with the most thorough description and reviews making it easy for you to choose the most efficient partner to bring your ideas to life. Create a profitable mobile business together with some proven leaders in the niche. However, no matter how good the company may look, it is always essential to feel who they are in business. That’s why we always aim to try every company out, see how can it create apps to deliver you the most trustworthy and objective information.

How to become a system administrator

A system administrator s job is unglamorous but essential to keeping IT operations running smoothly, so this involves being the real nuts and bolts of the business.

The role may include some mundane tasks, but each one is essential for the continued running of IT operations, to prevent problems and to improve systems performance. The system administrator is there to keep the company s network safe and running efficiently.

Depending on the size of the organisation you may have a jack-of-all-trades within a smaller company, whereas a larger enterprise may have several systems administrators all focused on different areas. They are usually the first point-of-contact for users when they experience problems with the network. The system administrator will then gather information to define and fix the issue, by trouble shooting hardware and software and liaising with vendors if needed for more information.

System administrators typically install, upgrade and monitor software and hardware. They may also be involved in data backup and recovery. They usually maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications. security tools, web-servers, email, PCs, local and wide area networking both hardware and software and mid-range server hardware.

Being responsible for so many aspects of a company s IT systems means the system administrator is required to keep up to date on new developments in the technology industry, in case changes within the company have an impact on the business.

This slideshow is an overview of a system administrator s job role and what is required to become one.

The next slide reveals the necessary skills needed to become a system administrator.

A mobile operating system (OS) is software that allows smartphones. tablet PCs and other devices to run applications and programs.

A mobile OS typically starts up when a device powers on, presenting a screen with icons or tiles that present information and provide application access. Mobile operating systems also manage cellular and wireless network connectivity, as well as phone access.

Some, such as Microsoft’s Windows 8, function as both a traditional desktop OS and a mobile operating system.

Most mobile operating systems are tied to specific hardware, with little flexibility. Users can jailbreak or root some devices, however, which allows them to install another mobile OS or unlock restricted applications.

Electronic Signature Parcel Tracking Enterprise Mobility Solutions

Customer expectations have changed drastically regarding the delivery of goods. The explosion in online shopping has led to increased consumer demand for better levels of home delivery service. In fact, the delivery phase of any online order is rightly seen as being critical to its success, and this has led to numerous innovations, including parcel tracking and electronic signature capabilities. It remains a key consideration for consumers with a recent UK consumer home-delivery survey finding that half of online shoppers admitted that their buying patterns might have been influenced by comments about delivery on social media platforms.

When you think about it, the courier responsible for delivering the goods you order online is usually the only person you have any interaction with. It is vital that they are able to provide a level of service that meets your expectations because their performance is linked to that of the retailer and plays a key role in your decision to buy online from them again. This is why logistics companies and other firms whose reputations rest on their delivery service are investing in enterprise mobility solutions, such as parcel tracking and electronic signature.

It is not enough to simply execute delivery; the process from dispatch to delivery must be managed as one end-to-end track trace process. Consumers, be it individuals or other businesses, want to see that their consumer delivery preferences have been accounted for in dispatch and that a DPD predict can estimate when goods will be delivered to the home or premises. At the point of delivery, those working in supply chain and field service operations have to be able to track trace the items they are delivering and this is made possible through parcel tracking and electronic signature software solutions.

Track Trace Proof of Delivery, Enterprise Mobility Solutions

Such is the volume of goods and services ordered from consumers on a daily basis, that the idea of postal organisations and logistics companies not managing the track trace of items effectively with parcel tracking and electronic signature is simply unthinkable. Parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions at point of delivery is confirmation that delivery has been completed, but what about the time in between? The logistics market is becoming increasingly congested, with supply chains becoming longer and more complex and new competitors entering the market all the time. This is where Enterprise Mobility and Mobility Solutions have come into their own.

It is so important for existing providers to continually improve their level of service if they are to retain the loyalty of their customers. Mobile workers are the operatives that will show how committed their employers are to the constant improvement that is required. It will soon become apparent to the consumer those who aren’t, so it’s time you started looking at your track trace capability and how parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions can empower your mobile workforce if you haven’t already.

Track Trace is made possible through enterprise mobile apps from Blackbay that incorporate every aspect of the logistics operation. Courier software and GPS trackers allow you to track the movements of couriers you have out in the field at any one time and routing software allows those tasked with delivery to plot and navigate their way to destinations with minimal fuss and the utmost efficiency. Once they reach the delivery destination, parcel tracking and electronic signature is your evidence that the items have been received and signed-off by the recipient, arguably the single most important element. Being able to verify and record successful deliveries is vital, and this is achievable with our proof of delivery app that enables the mobile worker to record and communicate electronic proof of delivery status.

Who provides parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions?

When searching for organisations with the capability to provide parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions, look no further than Blackbay. These form just part of our comprehensive track trace portfolio of enterprise mobility solutions that enable your organisation to make the service and productivity improvements that are so critical to supply chain and field service operations. We currently manage over 140,000 mobile workers and over 6,000,000 service visits and deliveries per day. This demonstrates just how many organisations put their trust in us when it comes to empowering their mobile workers with our enterprise mobile apps and parcel tracking and electronic signature software.

Our solutions are underpinned by the need for track trace technology. This has led to many of the world’s leading logistics companies using our parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions and proof of delivery software to increase their efficiency, improve the quality of their service and ultimately drive revenues. At Blackbay we’re well aware of changing consumer demands, which is why we’re continually building on our wealth of experience in workforce enterprise mobility to develop increasingly innovative enterprise mobile apps that utilise the very best in track trace and parcel tracking and electronic signature technology. We never rest on our laurels so you can be sure that with Blackbay as your partner for enterprise mobility solutions, you will equip your mobile workforce with the tools to deliver unrivalled logistical performance first time, every time.

If you’re concerned that your track trace capability is being left behind by the demands of the customers you serve or need the expert advice from a market leader in the provision of proof of delivery, parcel tracking and electronic signature solutions, contact Blackbay today.

    23 Mobile Business Ideas

10 BYOD mobile device management suites you need to know

For those of you still kicking tires on a BYOD management program, I have a special treat for you: A list of ten MDM suite vendors that are itching to make first contact with you. The good people over at Enterprise iOS made a valiant effort at an extensive comparison chart of 30 or so different MDM vendors for you. I’m not one who likes to reinvent the wheel so you can look at that chart for yourself. My part of this evaluation is to highlight ten of those awesome companies–some of whom I’ve spoken with, others I know by directly using their software and still others I know from independent study and evaluation. The ten MDM vendors I’m highlighting here in no way is an endorsement, paid or otherwise, nor is it a ‘diss’ of the vendors that I don’t list in my ten “favorites.”

This is also not a review. To do a review in a short article would be unfair to any of the vendors mentioned. This is simply a highlight and a “Hey, you should look at these MDMs before you settle on a BYOD solution.”

The single most important qualifying or disqualifying point is that the MDM software must support more than a single platform. The second is that it must support Apple’s iOS. For example, if an MDM vendor supports only Android, it isn’t listed in my ten. I feel that any vendor worth its salt needs to, at the very least, support Apple’s iOS, Android and Windows. Other platforms are optional–you know, because of market share and so on. Support for Desktop OSs is also optional but suggested as something that should be on the drawing board.

This list is in alphabetical order.

    1. AirWatch – AirWatch is one of the best MDM suites that I’ve seen. It perhaps sets a new standard for MDM in it extensive support for iOS and other mobile devices. If there’s any negative thing to say about it, it’s the fact that it doesn’t support any standard desktop OSs. That said, I’m thinking that AirWatch is a definite “one to watch” and if you don’t at least try this one out, I question whether you should consider BYOD at all.
    2. AmTel MDM – OK, this one’s a real sleeper for me. I’d never heard of it before but it has as many or more features than just about any other MDM in the list. I think you should give it a good look for your BYOD implementation. Be aware, though, this suite is so good that AmTel might be inadvertently painting an “acquisition” target on their backs. Hold out for the big money, guys (wink).
    3. Dialogs Smartman Device Management – Smartman is a SOPHOS company and this one gave me quite a surprise. It has all the features you’d expect from a full-blown enterprise management suite. I’m quite impressed with the level of quality and support from this suite considering that it comes from a company that isn’t completely focused on device management alone. Another sleeper that deserves your attention. Dornröschen aufwachen!
    4. Exitor DME – Although I’m not too familiar with Exitor, personally, they compare favorably with the other MDMs in the list. They support every mobile device type and they support all but a small handful of enterprise-level features. Exitor comes to you from Denmark. Sorry, I don’t know any cute Danish phrases but I do like the cheese and other non-rotten edibles from the state of Denmark.
    5. FancyFon – The name leaves a bit to be desired but this entry from the Emerald Isle is a serious contender in the MDM market. And, by any other name it wouldn’t smell any sweeter than it does now. FancyFon supports all mobile device types, includes some very high-level enterprise features and fully support Apple’s iOS 5.x. I’ll drink to that.
    6. Fiberlink MaaS360 – OK, any MDM company that can make me laugh by giving me a whitepaper named, “The Ten Commandments of BYOD ” can’t be all bad. In fact, MaaS360 (Mobile as a Service?) is quite the MDM gladiator with support for every mobile and almost every desktop OS on the market (No support for Linux desktops). I like it. Whatever their name means, I think it has MaaS appeal for BYODers to be.
    7. IBM – Yes, Big Blue is into mobile device management with its Tivoli product IBM Endpoint Manager for Mobile Devices. Tivoli manages mobile devices as light “endpoints.” Believe me, once you manage something with Tivoli (I’m a former Tivoli administrator), you own that device. For some, Tivoli might be a bit heavy-handed because of its ability to absolutely manage every aspect of an endpoint but don’t worry, the device still belongs to you. When you go Blue, you never go back.
    8. MobileIron – It’s hard not to play favorites when you look at a product like MobileIron. MobileIron supports all phone device types but doesn’t support desktop OSs yet. This young company is definitely one to watch. You should also ask for a demo. As Darth Vader would say, “Impressive.”
    9. Symantec – It probably doesn’t surprise you too much to know that Symantec is on this list. Symantec has been a leader in device security for as long as I’ve been in IT. It’s product list is long but its list of supported device types is even longer. If you could run SGI on a wristwatch, Symantec would support it. Don’t get any ideas though, no one wants a SGI-based wristwatch.
    10. Zenprise – If there’s a single company’s MDM you need to check out, it’s Zenprise. You should look closely at their products even if you’ve already decided on a MDM. It doesn’t support desktop OSs but for the long list of mobile devices it supports, you get a very extensive list of features. In fact, Zenprise’s MDM has so many features, perhaps it could help you with your motorcycle maintenance as well. You know, since motorcycles are mobile devices and all.

In choosing your MDM suite, my best advice is to first refer to my list of downselected suites, then look at the great MDM reference that Enterprise iOS created for you–examine the list of features of each suite and then make your own short list. Hit their websites, look at the product demos–some of which can actually use your device in the demo–and make a good decision. Honestly, it would be very difficult for me to choose one of the ten for my own MDM.

Talk back and let us know if you’ve chosen one from the list and tell us how you feel about it. We’d be especially interested in hearing from administrators and end users.

What You Need to Know About Android Tablet Security #how #to #uninstall

    Top Deals

As tablets become more popular, they re serving as stand-ins for computers for some users. Although most people still own a PC, tablets are particularly nice for web browsing and online video, making them common couch-side companions.

This, however, could introduce some issues. If tablets are being used like computers, they could be exposed to the same threats. Which begs the question how can you deal with Internet security on your Android tablet?

    Permissions Like The Phones

The entry to understanding Android on any device is permissions, and in this respect Android tablets work much like the phones. Heck, this same system isn t even Android exclusive Google has already adapted the same idea to Chrome extensions and web apps.

Permissions are very simple. Before you download an app, you are given a list of permissions that app requests of your device. These are not optional if you download the app, you are agreeing to the permissions. Once permission is given, it can t be revoked unless you uninstall the app.

You therefore need to be very careful about what you download. Reading permissions can seem annoying but do it anyway. An app that is malicious can easily get up to mischief without you knowing, and while such instances in the real world remain limited, they do exist.

Downloading An Antivirus App Is A Good Idea

As I point out in virtually every Android Internet security article, antivirus apps for the platform remain a bit of an open question. Comprehensive, objective tests of their ability to defend again threats remain rare.

However, a recent A/V Comparatives study did show that most security apps were able to protect against a test selection of malware threats, and the study goes so far as to recommend that all Android users install antivirus software.

Which one should you download? I m a fan of Kaspersky s Tablet Security. and recommend it as a first choice, but does require a pricey $20/year subscription. That may seem like a lot, and if you want free, Lookout Mobile Security can work well but keep in mind that the app s $2.99/month premium option totals to almost $36/year.

    Treat It Like A Laptop

When it comes to network security, tablets are much like laptops. They almost always connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, and are subject to all the security risks How To Combat WiFi Security Risks When Connecting To A Public Network How To Combat WiFi Security Risks When Connecting To A Public Network As many people now know, connecting to a public, unsecured wireless network can have serious risks. It s known that doing this can provide an opening for all manner of data theft, particularly passwords and private. Read More that results from that. Fortunately, your Android tablet supports secured wireless connections, and that s a feature you should always use whenever possible. The issue which is of concern is the chance that a hacker will be able to obtain your browsing data if you use an unsecure connection, and it applies to tablets just as with laptops.

One useful feature is Android s built-in VPN support, which you ll find in your tablet s settings. Just enter the VPN address and your username/password for it, and you re off! You can use this with many VPN services 7 Completely Free VPN Services to Protect Your Privacy 7 Completely Free VPN Services to Protect Your Privacy If you’re looking for a free VPN, the choices are currently limited, with many services switching to a paid model. These free virtual private networks can be used to avoid region blocking and more. Read More to provide yourself with secure browsing over unsecured networks.

    Use Honeycomb s Encryption

Android has not been particularly popular with enterprise users because of a general lack of focus on enterprise security, but there has been some inroads made in that direction, one of which is the encryption feature on Honeycomb tablets.

The feature is found in the Location Security section of Honeycomb s settings, and can encrypt the contents of your tablet s memory. Doing this does not make it unhackable, nor does it mean that someone couldn t intercept your Wi-Fi transmissions, but it does means it will be difficult for anyone to steal your data if the tablet is lost or stolen.

If you do encrypt your tablet, remember that you also won t be able to access the tablet s data if you are locked out of your tablet. Backing up important files is, as always, a good idea.

    Conclusion

Security for tablets is far from mature, just as the threats that may exploit a tablet are far from mature. There is some degree of security via obscurity available as of now, as many website exploits and viruses simply won t work against tablets. That s not going to last forever though. Security threats will become more and more common as the devices themselves become more and more popular. This process will take many years, but hey it certainly doesn t hurt to have a head start.

Secretly swiped: Your account numbers taken out of thin air

    Monday, February 09, 2015

The ABC7 I-Team reveals the mobile technology that hackers can use to steal credit and debit numbers from you while you’re in public. The cards at risk are enabled with radio technology that allows you to “wave and pay.”

It may be convenient, but there are also remote tools that thieves can use to steal information from those cards. The I-Team tested a device that can “secretly swipe” while you are standing in line to pay, on an escalator, or in a crowded spot.

“I would walk up to you and I might stand like this on the train, Ok and boom, I have your credit card,” said David Bryan.

Bryan, a security specialist at Chicago’s Trustwave, used a device in his backpack to read account numbers and expiration dates – all from cards which I think are safely tucked away in my wallet.

“They have everything in just a few seconds,” Bryan said. “The card sends data back to the device, right. So that means it’s wireless, so if it’s wireless, it can be read through clothing.”

The equipment is easily found online but only works on cards with this wireless symbol or cards enabled with “Radio Frequency ID”. “Near Field Communications”, “Blink” or “Paypass” technology. As you can see, the device only has to get within 6 inches of the card. Shoppers found it unsettling.

“I don’t know what to say, I am speechless,” said Kay Bragg, a shopper.

“I’m shocked,” said shopper Susan Sherman. ” I think that’s how some people picked up my debit card number.”

And we did it again, attaching the equipment to a laptop.

“From a distance away, I can still read your card right through the wallet,” Bryan said. “I have all of your numbers.”

Spokespeople representing the Near Field Communications System and MasterCard say that the 3-digit code on the back of the card is usually needed for purchases, and that code can’t be read by the device.

But other fraud experts tell the I-Team that there are other devices which can put card numbers and expiration dates on another “dummy” card which can be used at stores without that 3-digit code, and that some internet and phone transactions may not require it.

“So you don’t have to worry about having the CVV or other pieces of information,” Bryan said.

Then we used it on my CTA Ventra card, which can also be activated as a debit card. Our security expert accessed my account number and expiration date.

“And the last four is 7995,” Bryan said.

A CTA spokesperson said that the numbers can’t be used to ride the transit system, and also pointed out that the gadget can’t get your 3 digit debit card code on the back. And they said that a Ventra card “has the same industry-standard security protections that millions of credit and debit bank cards across the country (have) to prevent fraud.”

To fight back, you can buy special wallets and even cheap sleeves that block the radio frequency. You can also use foil.

You should also keep your eyes out for card readers planted by a store’s register.

“It could be a device stuck under the counter, it could be an overlay on credit card reader,” Bryan said.

“I am very impressed by it. It also frightens me a great deal,” said Keith Ricker, a shopper.

Most cards – including MasterCard, Visa, and banks – have policies that say you’re not liable for fraudulent transactions. But it can take several days or weeks sometimes to get money back which has been stolen from your checking or debit card. A Chase Bank spokesperson told the I-Team it’s actually now discontinuing the use of that radio technology on future cards.

Some security specialists also recommend Apple Pay, which they say is a secure alternative to paying since your actual card numbers are not stored on your iPhone.

Four Mobile Payment Systems Tested and Compared #mobile #card #payment

Four Mobile Payment Systems Tested and Compared

Accepting credit cards used to be expensive and complicated: You needed to set up a merchant account with a bank, you had to buy or lease a card reader, and you had to pay a setup fee, subscription fees, and fees on every sale you made. Today, a swarm of credit card processing apps for smartphones and tablets has rendered the process easier, cheaper, and highly mobile.

PayAnywhere has developed a strong app for its mobile card reader. Most of these mobile payment processing services offer pay-as-you-go plans, in which you pay only a fixed percentage fee per transaction. Although these fees are typically higher than what you’d pay under a traditional arrangement, these newer services can provide any small business a simple, economical way to accept payments via credit card. And instead of making you invest in an expensive card reader, these services offer free readers that can fit in your pocket or bag. Just plug one into the audio jack on your smartphone or tablet and launch the accompanying app, and you’re ready to accept credit card payments for your goods or services.

Most of these plans add value with features such an inventory system, where you can save prices and descriptions of the products you’re offering for sale. Several provide a full point-of-sale system, which enables you to attach cash drawers and receipt printers.

We examined four mobile payment processing services, along with their respective card readers and software. Each supplies both an app for iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch) and Android phones and tablets (although one provider’s Android software is still in beta). Only one service currently supports BlackBerry devices.

    Choosing the Right Service

Accepting credit card payments can be a boon to your business, but the associated fees can be a drag on profitability. PayAnywhere’s pay-as-you-go fee of 2.69 percent per swipe is the least expensive of the four services we looked at, while Intuit’s GoPayment and VeriFone’s SAIL tie for second with fees of 2.7 percent per transaction. Square’s 2.75 percent fee is the highest of the four.

If you’re processing more than $1300 in payments each month, you might be better served by one of the subscription plans that combine a monthly fee with a lower per-swipe rate: GoPayment costs $13 per month with a swipe fee of just 1.7 percent, and SAIL costs $10 per month with a swipe fee of 1.95 percent.

Low transaction fees aren’t important if the software and service aren’t a good fit for your business. If you need to accept and track cash as well as credit card payments, for instance, GoPayment won’t work for you. If you need to print paper receipts from iOS devices, you should consider PayAnywhere or Square. GoPayment is the best option for printing receipts from Android devices, and if you want the ability to charge cards via a Web interface in addition to using a mobile device. If you need a synchronized database for your inventory, or if you like the idea of scanning bar codes, SAIL is a good choice.

    About This Software

Snappii is a codeless mobile app and mobile forms development platform. Snappii offers more mobile apps for general business than anybody else in the industry. Comments: I wanted WWPI to reach out with technology to users of preserved wood products so I researched how to develop an app and selected Snappii to be our host and use their platform. We used excel spreadsheets with our data and they put it into the app. It is amazing what they can do and how we can take simple charts, and make it into functional lookup information for our users. The Treated Wood Guide is the first of its class thanks to Snappii. WWPI updates the charts and Snappii updates the platform when the Apple and Android updates are introduced. That way we can focus on what we do. We could not have done it without Snappii’s platform, great customer support and easy to use Excel file converter.

Comments: “With no background in App development, I searched and found Snappii through reading numerous favorable reviews. Their patience and help¿with hours of assistance in App design, approval for and submission to App Store and Android¿has been endless. Their customer support/service is positively outstanding! Absolutely wonderful experience!”

    Woohoo!

Comments: For a small business like us, the ability to have a basic app we can manipulate ourselves is super helpful. In fact, we’re planning a big release of an updated app with better looking graphics and an updated user check-in function. It’s a great way to engage our consumers with their smartphones, something we were previously incapable of doing!

The only drawback for myself is uploading excel spreadsheets to get proper data put in, but that’s probably more of an organization issue on my end. still figuring that out.

The customer service at SnAPPii is unmatched. They’ll break down how to do things in a simple and digestible way. Thanks!

    Fast, Easy and Affordable

Comments: It took about 2 weeks from the first draft to until the final app version. I thought that was good considering the time difference between AU and US.
The costs are reasonable. The app is good. Nothing more you could have done. Thank you!

Comments: I wanted to thank everyone at Snappii for your tremendous assistance in building our Mill City Dart League App. We couldn¿t have launched this app, the world¿s 1st ever true mobile app for a steel tip dart league, without a great company and product like yours behind us. We are the 2nd largest steel tip league in the U.S. with 1,200 players and 146 teams and we needed an app that could be a single point for a wealth of information and player tools. Most importantly, we needed a cost effective and easy platform that allowed us to launch our app in both the Android and Apple stores. This app is already turning heads in the US and internationally and as Mill City continues to expand our league and our app, we are confident that the Snappii platform will easily scale to our needs.

    REMAX Performance (FInerChoice)

Comments: I have nothing but positives to say about the Snappii Team. Alexandra and her team helped me through it and have been my main point of contact for anything that comes up.

    Endless Capabilities with Snappii

Comments: I am a professional pilot for a major airline and not a professional programmer. It’s an easy to use Interface. Very nice support. It´s an easy way to develop your own App.

Securing Mobile Healthcare Devices: Best Practices

By combining technology, best practices, and education, IT departments can safeguard even the most mobile healthcare departments.

10 Medical Practice Management Systems For 2014

(Click image for larger view and slideshow.)

Insecurities lurk beneath the surface of the fast-growing world of mobile healthcare, putting data at risk. But organizations can protect patient data by implementing a mix of technologies and best practices.

The practice of using mobile devices in healthcare is growing. More than half — 51% — of physicians use tablets for professional purposes and 74% use smartphones at work. The mobile monitoring and diagnostic medical devices market will reach $8.03 billion by 2019, compared with a mere $0.65 billion in 2013, according to Transparency Market Research. This year alone 90 million wearable health devices will ship, reported ABI Research.

Add in the growing number of patients who access their records electronically, the doctors’ offices that schedule appointments via text or app, and the offices that wirelessly share data, and the message is clear: Mobile must be secure and HIPAA-compliant. That is not, however, always the case.

“The sheer number of people and devices with access to health information expands, making it much more complex for organizations to create mobile policies, manage data leakage controls, and conduct regulatory analysis,” says Mike Raggo, security evangelist at MobileIron, in an interview. “Mobile devices are ubiquitous in healthcare organizations, supporting part-time physicians and nurses working shifts that share devices. The plethora of health information accessible on these devices makes protecting against data loss challenging.”

There are, however, steps healthcare organizations can take to decrease the possibility of data loss, which typically occurs when a device itself is lost or stolen, when rogue apps siphon off data, or when an employee undertakes well-intentioned but risky actions, such as sharing files through public cloud services, he says.

Enterprise mobile management best practices include:

    • Managing all devices, as well as constantly maintaining security settings and configurations.
    • Enabling remote lock and wipe, so unauthorized users (such as ex-employees) are easily removed from the system.
    • Full device or app-by-app encryption that’s monitored and enforced.
    • Enforcement of device-level passwords.
    • Monitoring the operating system’s integrity to avoid usage of compromised versions.
    • Implementing an auto-wipe policy to minimize the risk of attacks via lost or stolen devices.
    • Secure email and attachments to prevent malware being spread from personal accounts.
    • Protecting application data by encrypting app data for operating systems such as Android or deleting app data if a device is non-compliant.
    • Prevent untrusted file-sharing apps from accessing secure documents.
    • Log devices and actions for audit.

“Recent attacks on data have certainly reinforced the need for a new generation of data security approaches. Healthcare CIOs who focus on risk mitigation through user enablement will become more prominent in the C-suite. Those that focus on risk mitigation through restriction will lose power,” Raggo says. “The former understand that security is about behavior and they reward the right behavior. The latter inevitably encourage the wrong behavior and damage both their credibility in the C-suite and the security posture of the ‘mobile first’ organization.”

In addition to best practices and technologies that address encryption, passwords, and other traditional security measures, mobile device management plays an important role in safeguarding compliance, Paul Martini, CEO and co-founder of iboss Security Network. tells InformationWeek. MDM sales are expected to reach $3.94 billion by 2019, versus $1.01 last year, Markets and Markets estimated. The expense, which has prevented some organizations from adopting the technology, is easing — more developers are in the market — and the cost of being non-compliant is too high for healthcare facilities.

“[MDM] solutions allow an organization to get a handle on mobile devices by providing tools for grouping devices, forcing device passwords, forcing storage encryption, and wiping devices if they become lost or stolen,” says Martini. “In addition, healthcare organizations should implement a BYOD policy for devices not belonging to the organization. A combination of technology and training is required to maintain a HIPPA compliant environment.”

Mobile security requires a multi-pronged approach, says Paul Trulove, vice president of products at SailPoint. in an interview.

“The combination of MDM and identity and access management (IAM) is much more powerful, as it can help align policy and establish consistent, centralized access controls across the organization. They can also tie mobile information back to the infrastructure in terms of identity data and making it part of the on-boarding and off-boarding process,” he says. “For example, if they do not wipe a person’s device once they leave an organization, the organization can potentially be liable and at risk for any data left on a person’s device.”

Technologies are not the only defense in IT’s arsenal. An educated workforce helps reduce the possibility of breaches, Martini says.

“Healthcare professionals can do simple things such as have awareness of actions and their consequences. For example, through training, professionals can be made aware that it’s not ok to email a patient record, as the transmission may not be encrypted and the destination may not be HIPPA compliant. They should avoid storing or viewing any patient documents on their personal devices. It doesn’t require high tech in order to make a big difference.”

    Gartner Magic Quadrant

Positioning Technology Players Within a Specific Market
Which are the competing players in the major technology markets? How are they positioned to help you over the long haul? A Gartner Magic Quadrant is a culmination of research in a specific market, giving you a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market’s competitors. By applying a graphical treatment and a uniform set of evaluation criteria, a Magic Quadrant helps you quickly ascertain how well technology providers are executing their stated visions and how well they are performing against Gartner’s market view.

How do I use a Gartner Magic Quadrant?

Use a Gartner Magic Quadrant as a first step to understanding the technology providers you might consider for a specific investment opportunity.

Keep in mind that focusing on the leaders’ quadrant isn’t always the best course of action. There are good reasons to consider market challengers. And a niche player may support your needs better than a market leader. It all depends on how the provider aligns with your business goals.

How does a Gartner Magic Quadrant Work?

A Magic Quadrant provides a graphical competitive positioning of four types of technology providers, in markets where growth is high and provider differentiation is distinct:

Leaders execute well against their current vision and are well positioned for tomorrow.

Trend Micro Named a Leader in 2016 Gartner Endpoint Protection Platforms Magic Quadrant

Today’s threat landscape has never been more volatile or dangerous. Given what’s at stake, it can be difficult for IT buyers to know which provider to turn to keep critical corporate data secure, their users’ endpoints and servers up and running, and compliance officers happy.

That’s where Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reports can help out – providing cyber security executives with info they can use to see some vendors with offerings in any given field. At Trend Micro, we’re delighted to have been recognized once again as a Leader in Endpoint Protection Platforms – and to have been positioned the furthest for completeness of vision in the leaders’ quadrant.

    The Trend Micro Difference

The difficulty facing IT buyers is finding the time to do their due diligence on the many vendors crowding the endpoint security market out there. That’s why we’re thrilled to have been named a Leader in Endpoint Protection Platforms since 2002[i] by one of the most respected independent authorities on the market: Gartner.

Trend Micro offers a broad range of next-gen protection from the latest breaking threats as well as proven attack protections across every endpoint, server, and application in physical, virtual and cloud environments. Our industry leading Smart Protection Network and threat research team, mines data around the clock and across the globe – analyzing and blocking 250m+ threats a day to ensure that you are always protected. One of the reasons we believe Trend Micro is a Magic Quadrant leader in endpoint protection is because we leverage this unprecedented level of threat information in our advanced technology like:

    • Behavior monitoring including ransomware protection. an advanced layer of protection against new, unknown, and emerging threats
    • Application control: prevents unwanted/unknown apps executing on endpoints
    • Vulnerability detection and shielding: protects endpoints even before there’s a patch available (and in cases where there will not be a patch, including end of support platforms like Windows XP, 2000, 2003)
    • System security: Uses integrity monitoring and log inspection to ensure unauthorized or out-of-policy changes are detected and reported—across files, ports, registries, and more.
    • Automated virtual cloud workload protection: including comprehensive security controls for AWS, Azure, and VMware.
    • Malware sandboxing: protects against zero day malware
    • Data protection: data loss prevention protects your intellectual property and encryption can reduce risk in the event of accidental loss or theft
    • Endpoint Detection Response. context-aware endpoint security monitor that records and reports detailed system-level activities to allow threat analysts to rapidly assess the nature and extent of an attack.

IT teams have never before been faced with such an agile and determined online foe. To deal with everything the bad guys can throw at your organization, you need a multi-layered endpoint protection platform that delivers a full lifecycle of threat defense.

That’s exactly what Trend Micro’s Connected Threat Defense does – ensuring that all of our proven and next gen functionality work together in real-time to prevent, detect, respond and provide central visibility and control across your environment. Connected Threat Defense gives you a complete view of your users, devices, servers and network security – making it easier to investigate threats and administer day-to-day management.

What are the best mobile business ideas for the year? Are you in need of business opportunities that requires low startup capital, low overhead and no office location? Do you want a business you can run from any location of your choice? Then i advice you read on .

The concept behind running a mobile business is to take your goods or services to the doorstep of your customers; by any means necessary. For instance, if you have a particular talent in cooking, rather than starting a catering or restaurant business; you may consider taking your services to the doorstep of your customers using a food truck or a food cart. This particular act gives you an advantage over those who operate from a stationary location such as shops and stands.

Aside this illustration, there are actually more ideas you may want to consider. Without wasting your time, below are the following top 10 best mobile business ideas you can start this year.

Top 10 Best Mobile Small Business Ideas to Start

If you look online, there are countless of opportunities for individuals who know two or more languages. What this mean in essence is that there is certainly a great demand for interpreters and you can take advantage of this opportunity by pooling a team of translators together. The good thing about this business is that you don’t need an office location; all you need is just a mobile phone, a computer, access to the internet and a list containing the contacts of translators; that will execute your tasks.

Whether you have experience in human resources or have the technical aptitude to come up with appropriate apps, starting a mobile business may just fit your profile. With companies opening their doors for freelance opportunities, you can help them out in, recruiting employees, monitoring their employees with your management skills, ensuring a high performance level among employees, or better still; you can come up with a product that boosts employee productivity.

Mobile salon business. Do you have skills in hair dressing, facial makeovers, etc; then another good mobile business idea you may want to consider is to set up a mobile salon. Since people are always conscious about the way they look and they always crave for convenience, it can make a great combination for a business. The catch here now is that you can stay mobile, and offer your services house to house. You can also get a truck and operate your business from inside the truck.

For the sake of convenience and in the name of health, healthy vending machines are expected to boom. Needless to say, I decided to include this item in the top 10 mobile business ideas because it is worth venturing into.

If you have the skills to repair for electronics, home machines, iPhones. automobiles, mobile phones, laptops. power generators, industrial machines, etc; then you can help customers in the maintenance and repair of these gadgets. You don’t even need a workplace and you can execute your services in the client’s location.

People skills are essential in this business. If you can pool human resources together, you can take advantage of this opportunity from the top 10 mobile business ideas. I know some individuals who are into contract execution, yet they don’t have an office or operate from a single location. For instance, getting interior decoration contracts, supply contracts, real estate development contracts, etc are some businesses you can engage in without needing an office space.

Before a service or product is released in the consumer market, big corporations go through comprehensive testing. Also, they regularly gather feedback from the marketplace and from customers. You can bridge the gap between the companies and the customers by being the middleman or information broker.

Top 10 Best Mobile Small Business Ideas to Start

With the increasing demand for freelance jobs and work at home opportunities, you can make money out of it. In fact, there are a lot of freelance services you can offer and some of them are writing services. SEO. tutoring, web design and development. database administration, data entry. etc. You can set up a team of freelance workers and manage job hunting for them.

However, the catchy fact about this business is that your team of freelance workers don’t have to work from a centralized location; they can work from their individual homes. All you have to do in this case is to set up your own site, act as a mediator between client companies and freelancers; and make your money.

Some companies are unwilling to put big money on a function that they may not be able to use or manage full time. They would rather outsource these services and such services include IT consulting, human resource projects, marketing and financial functions. You can make yourself and your team available for such services.

Yes, you can start a consulting business. With the advent of the internet and the web, the world is now a global village where you can do business with anyone without being limited by border. You can start a mobile consulting business armed with only your laptop and an internet connection and offer advice to anybody in the world.

You can also serve as a mobile consulting group depending on your particular expertise. All you need to do is to choose a communication platform that will be beneficial to you and your clients. Such communication platform can be mobile phone calls, Skype, GTalk, Facebook chat, 2Go, WhatsApp, Twitter. etc.

In conclusion, the above are some low capital, small business ideas that you can engage in today without needing an office space. So get down to work today and I will see you at the top.

Real Estate Taxes- Delinquent Taxes – Office of the Tax Collector –

    Delinquent Taxes

    Real Estate Taxes

Real estate taxes become delinquent April 1st of each year. Delinquent taxes must be paid by cash, cashier’s check or money order. The amount due is determined by the the date the payment is received.

Florida Statutes require the Tax Collector to advertise the delinquent parcels in a local newspaper once a week for three consecutive weeks. The advertised list of unpaid taxes is published in a local newspaper at the beginning of May, and can also be found online at bidlaketax.com. Advertising and collection fees are added to the delinquent taxpayer’s bill.

Beginning on or before June 1st, the Tax Collector is required by law to hold a Tax Certificate Sale. The certificates represent liens on all unpaid real estate properties. The sale allows citizens to buy certificates by paying off the tax debt that is owed. The sale is conducted in reverse auction style with participants bidding downward in ¼% increments starting at 18%. The certificate is awarded to the lowest bidder.

A tax certificate, when purchased, becomes an enforceable first lien against the real estate. The certificate holder is actually paying the taxes for a property owner in exchange for a competitive bid rate of return on his/her investment. In order to remove the lien, the property owner must pay the Tax Collector all delinquent taxes plus accrued interest, penalties and advertising fees. The Tax Collector then notifies the certificate holder of any certificates redeemed, and a refund check is issued to the certificate holder.

A tax certificate is valid for seven years from the date of issuance. The holder may apply for a tax deed at any time after two years have elapsed since April 1st of the year of issuance of the tax certificate and before the cancellation of the certificate. If the property owner fails to pay the tax debt, the property tax deed is sold at public auction.

    Tangible Personal Property Tax

Tangible Personal Property Taxes become delinquent April 1st of each year at which time a 1.5% fee per month is added to the bill. Within 45 days after the tangible personal property taxes become delinquent, the Tax Collector is required by law to advertise a list of delinquent taxpayers one time in a local newspaper. Advertising costs are added to the delinquent bill.

Pursuant to Florida Statutes. Tax Warrants are issued prior to April 30th of the next year on all unpaid tangible personal property taxes. Within 30 days after the warrants are prepared, the Tax Collector applies to the Circuit Court for an order directing levy and seizure of the property for the amount of unpaid taxes and costs.

Any changes to the tax roll (name, address, location, assessed value) must be processed through the Property Appraiser s Office. (352) 253-2150.
