How Google determines local ranking

Local results are based primarily on relevance, distance, and prominence. These factors are combined to help find the best match for your search. For example, Google algorithms might decide that a business that’s farther away from your location is more likely to have what you’re looking for than a business that’s closer, and therefore rank it higher in local results.

Relevance

Relevance refers to how well a local listing matches what someone is searching for. Adding complete and detailed business information can help Google better understand your business and match your listing to relevant searches.

Distance

Just like it sounds–how far is each potential search result from the location term used in a search? If a user doesn’t specify a location in their search, Google will calculate distance based on what’s known about their location.

Prominence

Prominence refers to how well-known a business is. Some places are more prominent in the offline world, and search results try to reflect this in local ranking. For example, famous museums, landmark hotels, or well-known store brands that are familiar to many people are also likely to be prominent in local search results.

Prominence is also based on information that Google has about a business from across the web (like links, articles, and directories). Google review count and score are factored into local search ranking: more reviews and positive ratings will probably improve a business’s local ranking. Your position in web results is also a factor, so SEO best practices also apply to local search optimization.

    Business reviewsWe at BrightLocal have released the findings of our annual Local Consumer Review Survey, which reveals the growing importance of online reviews in the purchasing decision.

    About Local Consumer Review Survey 2014

    This is the 4th year we have conducted this study into consumer usage and attitudes toward online reviews. In May-June, we sent a questionnaire to our local consumer panel and received 2,104 completed survey responses. All respondents are from the USA (90%) and Canada (10%).

    The purpose of the survey is to understand how online reviews influence the attitudes of consumers toward local businesses and how they directly influence the purchase of local business services.

    The survey includes 13 questions. The following 4 charts represent some of the key findings of the survey. Full survey findings and charts can be viewed on BrightLocal.com.

    88% Have Read Reviews To Determine The Quality Of A Local Business

    • 39% read reviews on a regular basis (vs. 32% in 2013)
    • Only 12% do not read reviews (vs. 15% in 2013)

    Nearly 9 in 10 consumers have read online reviews to determine the quality of a local business, and 39% do so on a regular basis. The trend line over the last four years clearly shows how much more regularly people are reading reviews, clearly highlighting the need for local businesses to attract more reviews and actively manage their online reputation.

    The steady decline of consumers in the No column also allows us to forecast the way consumer attitudes are likely to continue changing in the future.

    85% Of Consumers Say They Read Up To 10 Reviews

    • 67% of consumers said they read up to 6 reviews (vs. 77% in 2013)
    • 85% of consumers said they read up to 10 reviews (vs. 92% in 2013)
    • 7% of consumers said they read 20+ reviews (vs. 2% in 2013)

    Eighty-five percent of consumers are satisfied once they have read up to 10 online reviews for a local businesses. However, there is a greater proportion of consumers who now read in excess of 20 reviews. This obviously signifies more engagement with review sites, but does it also highlight trust issues? Do consumers now feel they need to read more positive reviews before developing trust? (More on this below.)

    Most importantly for SMBs and SEOs, this highlights the importance of having at least 10 reviews to satisfy 85% of potential customers. It goes without saying that these reviews should be not only positive, but also fresh; if consumers only read the latest reviews, it s crucial to ensure that these most recent reviews and positive.

    For 7 out of 10 consumers, positive reviews inspire trust. This highlights just how important they are for a local business, and it s clear that reputation management is something that cannot be ignored. Any negative reviews will directly affect customer acquisition and, in turn, company revenue.

    Just 1 in 10 consumers do not take any notice of online reviews (vs. 12% in 2013). We can see from the chart above that this percentage is decreasing year-on-year as review consumption becomes more commonplace.

    For nearly 9 in 10 consumers, an online review is equally as important as a personal recommendation. With word-of-mouth still the most popular way of recommending a local business, this stat highlights the value of a positive review.

    However, this trust comes with a caveat. There is almost a 50/50 split in what drives trust for this 88% of consumers. For one half, this trust will only be granted if there are multiple reviews to read. For the other half, this trust is dependent on the reviews being authentic. In this case, quality is equally as important as quantity.

    The subject of fake reviews has had a lot of news coverage and is clearly in the consciousness of the average consumer. It s likely that they will only become more discerning in their trust of reviews as this issue becomes more prevalent.

This out-of-the-box system doesn t require lengthy implementation or training, so businesses can have it up and running quickly.

    Sisense s standalone applications offer data and text mining with interactive analytics tools. ElastiCube is their analytics database that utilizes In-Chip technology, enabling a single server and minimal hardware with the ability to handle big data. Sisense lowered limits on data usage to maximize shared information between users.

    Integrated within the suite, Sisense includes functionality for dashboards and scorecards, data warehousing, extract, transform and load (ETL) and a query and report writer. Everything is managed through one interface designed with the end-user in mind. Sisense can be deployed on-premise or over the cloud.

    One of the things I like best about SiSense is how it’s out of the box ease of use has the ability to evolve into a much more advanced analytics tool with continued use. Plugins, custom javascript, upgrades, and new features ensure that I’m always improving the analytics I can do with the tool. Also the ability to set regular email reports, download dashboards as pdfs, and quickly push changes to the users lets us answer business questions on demand in a way we never could before.

    One of the things I dislike most about SiSense is their Elasticbue build process. As our data models have expanded we’ve found it difficult to manage the build times of our larger cubes which can take several hours to build. For instance, we cannot build changes to the cube while one of the regularly scheduled builds is occurring and the ‘stop build’ functionality has never been very responsive. It is my understanding that the next version will completely redesign the build process so I’m looking forward to seeing these changes.

    Recommendations

    When evaluating BI software don’t worry about how ‘pretty’ the dashboards can be. While the flashy widgets and beautiful charts have an initial appeal you’ll quickly find that the most important information you can show the end users is KPIs and pivot tables supported by some graphs. Ease of use, the ability to transform data, and quickly publish dashboards to users is much more important in the long run. This is the reason we stopped using Tableau and are strictly using SiSense now.

    Easy to install and easy to use, for your most experienced and inexperienced personal.
    A fast learning curb with an on-boarding process will get you right to the point where you can generate beautiful dashboards and start collecting insights, Sisense will go out of its way to make it easy for you to use their solution, with great customer support team, side solutions and constant product updates.

    Some of the default machine (server) requirements are high, should be considered when expecting major expansion of the business.

    Recommendations

    There are other solution out there and that haven’t got the chance to check, so I can’t compare.
    But. I must admit that I didn’t feel the need to change my BI solution and I believe it says a lot.

    Even though I had limited technical experience with database modeling, Sisense and team made it simple to get functional dashboards within the first 30 days. The dashboards look beautiful and the end users are thrilled with the results. So far, I have been able to field all requests from users without relative ease.

    Their forum/user support seems sparse, but I have been able to find support for pretty much everything I need.

    Make sure you have someone who understands your data structure on the onboarding calls.

    We are currently at the product evaluation stage to recommend a BI product for one of our government clients. But it is already clear that Sisense is the all-round champion in the following areas.

    1. Ease of use for end user
    2. Ease of implementation by SA and DBA
    3. Innovative back-end that delivers scalebility and performance
    4. Great framework that empowers developers to write custom widgets or custom applications, and
    5. At a affordable price

    UI is not a polished, even though a user can customize and refine through CSS.

    SiSense leverages two best paradigms of the modern computer world: an in-memory store and rapid, no fuss web-based insight delivery. I can see the vendor is proud of their product and understands modern BI well. Also, the support and sales staff members I dealt with are full of positively charging energy, which is rare these days.

    The new version of the product was not test driven long enough. The older version was chosen out of so many other BI offerings. It is hard to nitpick an area of improvement now. Every team member I polled in my company only has good words to say about SiSense.

    Recommendations

    Do your homework in terms of research, not by just looking at the Magic Quadrant. Gather the precise objectives a BI solution must deliver. Do not pick too many vendors, and do not start with polls like “What do you use for BI?” It will just make you read all the BI solution names. Then narrow down to 2-3 out of 5-7. And test drive each side-by-side.

Accountants make a pretty good living, and they have a lot of job security. After all, as long as people make money, they’ll need other people to handle it for them.

    Put simply, an accountant is a person who keeps or inspects financial records. They’re “numbers” people who excel at organization and detail-oriented work. Since they deal with money – sometimes significant amounts of it – accountants must also possess a high degree of integrity.And because they’re constantly interacting with clients, accountants should be effective communicators. Patty Pogemiller, the national director for talent and acquisition and mobility for Deloitte, one of the world’s “Big Four” accounting firms, writes in an email, “Problem solving skills are essential in a client business like professional services. Employers are looking for people who demonstrate an ability to think analytically and approach a problem in a structured and methodical way. Can they objectively analyze and solve an issue? And once they have a solution, they must have the ability to communicate it to others – their clients, managers and fellow team members.”

    In addition to preparing taxes for individuals, public accountants can also perform audits, prepare taxes and provide consulting for corporations, nonprofit organizations and governments. Internal accountants create processes to find and eliminate financial waste and fraud. Management accountants record and analyze financial information. Government accountants – at the federal, state or local level – maintain records of government agencies and audit private businesses or individuals whose activities fall under government regulation or taxation.

    The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that 142,400 new accounting and auditing jobs will open up by 2024. This equates to an 11 percent job growth rate.

    Training

    Although there are some associate degrees for accounting, a bachelor’s degree generally looks better to prospective employers. Some employers may even prefer that their accountants have a master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting. And some universities and colleges offer a five-year combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program, which is a smart choice for students hoping to take the Certified Public Accountant exam. Most states require graduates to have a total of 150 hours of coursework, which equates to five years of school, before sitting for the exam. After passing, accountants will be able to file reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission, which makes them much more attractive to employers. Christopher Ekimoff, the director of FTI Consulting, a global business advisory firm, says, “Those three letters [CPA] really make your career. They will identify you in the marketplace, in the business world and in your career path as a professional willing to hold yourself to a higher standard and operate under a set of guidelines and principles that really set you apart.”

    In addition to the CPA certification, accountants may also want to get the Certified Management Accountant certification, which requires a bachelor’s degree, two years of work in management accounting and passing an exam. There are also a handful of other certifications that accountants may want to procure down the line, including the Certified Internal Auditor certification and the Certified Information Systems Auditor certification.

    One of the things I like best about SiSense is how it’s out of the box ease of use has the ability to evolve into a much more advanced analytics tool with continued use. Plugins, custom javascript, upgrades, and new features ensure that I’m always improving the analytics I can do with the tool. Also the ability to set regular email reports, download dashboards as pdfs, and quickly push changes to the users lets us answer business questions on demand in a way we never could before.

    One of the things I dislike most about SiSense is their Elasticbue build process. As our data models have expanded we’ve found it difficult to manage the build times of our larger cubes which can take several hours to build. For instance, we cannot build changes to the cube while one of the regularly scheduled builds is occurring and the ‘stop build’ functionality has never been very responsive. It is my understanding that the next version will completely redesign the build process so I’m looking forward to seeing these changes.

    Recommendations

    When evaluating BI software don’t worry about how ‘pretty’ the dashboards can be. While the flashy widgets and beautiful charts have an initial appeal you’ll quickly find that the most important information you can show the end users is KPIs and pivot tables supported by some graphs. Ease of use, the ability to transform data, and quickly publish dashboards to users is much more important in the long run. This is the reason we stopped using Tableau and are strictly using SiSense now.

    There are other solution out there and that haven’t got the chance to check, so I can’t compare.
    But. I must admit that I didn’t feel the need to change my BI solution and I believe it says a lot.

    Even though I had limited technical experience with database modeling, Sisense and team made it simple to get functional dashboards within the first 30 days. The dashboards look beautiful and the end users are thrilled with the results. So far, I have been able to field all requests from users without relative ease.

    SiSense leverages two best paradigms of the modern computer world: an in-memory store and rapid, no fuss web-based insight delivery. I can see the vendor is proud of their product and understands modern BI well. Also, the support and sales staff members I dealt with are full of positively charging energy, which is rare these days.

    The new version of the product was not test driven long enough. The older version was chosen out of so many other BI offerings. It is hard to nitpick an area of improvement now. Every team member I polled in my company only has good words to say about SiSense.

    Recommendations

    Do your homework in terms of research, not by just looking at the Magic Quadrant. Gather the precise objectives a BI solution must deliver. Do not pick too many vendors, and do not start with polls like “What do you use for BI?” It will just make you read all the BI solution names. Then narrow down to 2-3 out of 5-7. And test drive each side-by-side.

    It’s an exciting time to be a financial advisor, since several decades ago, the position didn’t really exist. You were either a stockbroker or a community banker or even in insurance sales, according to James Kinney, a certified financial planner and founder of the New Jersey-based Financial Pathways. Now, however, financial advisors perform all these roles, from small independent practices to big investment firms.

    “As a larger portion of the industry shifts away from the banks, brokers and insurance companies, additional opportunities have opened,” writes Eric Schaefer of the Virginia-based wealth management, investment and financial planning firm Savant Capitalin an email. “As this transition takes place, many advisors have gone independent or created ensemble relationships in new businesses. These new businesses need young, energetic and driven professionals to leverage the time of senior advisors and provide for the future continuity of the business.”

    Put simply, financial advisors meet with clients and counsel them on their finances. This could mean sitting down and creating budgets to firming up retirement plans to giving advice about investing. Financial advisors can also invest a client’s funds and meet with him or her regularly to discuss their investments. Some are also licensed to sell insurance. Many times, financial advisors help plan a safe, comfortable future for their clients, but they’re also called upon when the unexpected occurs –perhaps an aging parent suddenly requires a live-in nurse, a couple plans on divorcing or a child needs to transfer to an expensive private school. Financial advisors may step in and make sense of these fiscal troubles and create a plan for moving forward. For that reason, Schaefer explains, “Good financial advisors and good teachers tend to have a lot of traits in common.” He points out that advisors must be able to listen to their clients; explain complex ideas in easy-to-understand ways; and be able to sympathize with their clients.

    This is expected to be one of the faster-growing occupations over the next decade, with a projected growth rate of 30 percent through 2024, according to the Labor Department. That’s an additional 73,900 new positions on top of the 249,400 jobs financial advisors held in 2014. The retirement of baby boomers in need of financial planning advice is one driver of the expected growth. Still, employment may be tempered by the increasing number of online advisory tools, which may divert clients from seeking financial advice in person.

    To be a financial advisor, you need financial expertise and a desire to help people. A bachelor’s degree is typically a good starting place, but you can choose a broad range of degrees – from finance to business to something entirely different. Increasingly, universities have begun offering financial planning degrees, too.

    However, Schaefer says, “My colleagues and I agree that 80 percent of our job is psychology, and only 20 percent is financial. I know successful owners of financial advisory firms that specifically recruit psychology majors for this reason. Though a business or economics degree will better prepare a professional to take industry exams or explain financial products, the ability to understand the core concerns and goals of a client or prospective client is much more valuable.”

    The Certified Financial Planner exam is required to become a CFP –a distinction that looks good to employers. You can also acquire other designations if you want to specialize in a certain area of financial planning. For instance, you can complete the necessary coursework and exam to acquire the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist, or CRPS, designation. And if you plan on buying or selling stocks or selling insurance, you’ll need to procure state-specific licenses.

    It s about a 16 year old girl (Ann Zacharias)trying to write an erotic novel. She succeeds and finds a publisher (Sami Frey). He agrees. But she wants to find out more about love and by seeing her mother having a lesbian affair which she s watching, she decides to find out what love is all about and starts a relation with the publisher. But the publisher is of course messing around with other girls. She s out for revenge.

    No don t think to see blood or whatsoever. The reason I watched it is because the way she s taking revenge is a bit sleazy. She knows a guy who never had love and she takes him in her room to make use of his semen for the revenge, that part is sleazy but never becomes explicit. In fact, up to today s standards it s a bit low on everything. It do contains nudity and frontal male nudity but as I said, never becomes explicit. The theme about a 16 year old wanting sex with an adult was a shocker back then. But Maladolescenza and Last Tango In Paris were more shocking due the age of the youngsters. Still, it s fun to watch how she seducing the publisher and when she s playing with herself it s being edited with a cat, one to see. Sometimes funny but never shocking, still, if you want to see sleaze from France watch it or go for Une Vraie Jeunne Fille from the same year. All about the same theme, searching for the perfect sex.

    Pros: Since the day Woolworths insurance started providing pet insurance, many happy customers have praised the company for their great benefits. There are three levels of options that customers can choose from, each tailored to fit the special needs of pet owners. Any cats and dogs after 8 weeks old are available to get insured.

    There are reports from customers that up to 80% of their vet bills were able to be claimed for, up to $12,000 a year. This is a very high number, making Woolworths a very desirable company to be with. Feedbacks have been left by policyholders that they were able to go to any licensed vet in Australia, and were covered for extra benefits such as Emergency Boarding and Paralysis Ticks. A customer has been noted for able to claim for micro-chipping, teeth cleaning, heartworm preventative medication, dewclaw removal and more.

    Regarding their Life Insurance, covers are found to be extremely cheap while offering a comprehensive cover. Prices start at under $2 a week, and single and join covers are available. The cooling period spans for 30 days, which is a very long time compared to other insurers that only offers a cooling periods of two weeks.

    Payments for premiums can be made fortnightly, monthly or yearly without having to pay any extra fees. This is very convenient for people that wants to get a good insurance policy but don’t have the budget to pay for it at one go. The staffs are always known to be nice, friendly and caring for their customers.

    Overall: Woolworths Insurance is an outstanding company that has been praised by many people. Their premiums are low while offering a wide range of protection and high claim percentages. Making payments is very flexible because customers can choose to pay either fortnightly, monthly or annually.

    Now that I am with them, my dog can enjoy frequent trips to the dentist without me paying a fortune.

    Pros: Great staff, very friendly and very professional. Cheap quotes.

    Overall: I was very excited when I found out that woolworths were having their own insurance company. Even though it was just for pets, I quickly joined knowing I will be able to get the best service and even price becuase I was one of the early birds.

    The location is perfect, although my husband did complain about the noise from the nearby bars. There is good parking and it is a perfect place to start a tour of the FSU campus. It is a good place to spend 1 night for a low price. They were able to find us a non-smoking room after initially booking us a smoking room. They were helpful and kind.     The first impression was poor. The guy at the front desk (once he showed up) was apparently having a bad day and wanted to spread the feeling.
    The surface of the toilet seat delaminating. How do they ensure its cleanliness?
    There was a considerable amount of grime in the bottom of the shower.
    There was a thick layer of dirt on the window sill. While this is not a huge issue by itself, it does show a careless approach to cleaning.
    The TV belongs in a museum. No joke!
    The wifi was advertised as free. That’s technically true, but is was so unbelievably slow that is was unusable. We ended up using my cell-phone’s data.
    We were supplied with one very thin small piece of soap. I applaud efforts to cut down on waste, but this was ridiculous.

    And the final impressions:
    This seemed to me to be a place where cost-cutting had gone to extremes. However, interestingly, the same person showed up to the front desk when we were leaving. He was quite friendly, so maybe the day before just was a bad day for him.

    I stayed at this hotel for a FSU game. It is literally adjacent to campus and perfect it that is your goal. It is built into a side of a hill, and I’m not sure if there is an elevator if you have a cane or wheelchair. The room was basic, quiet, and clean, but has had hard use. There is a McDonald’s across the street. Hotel prices in this area can skyrocket for no logical reason ($200-300/night). This is a good choice if that happens.

    We went for fsu orientation and stayed here because it was closest to out daughters dorm. It was okay for a cheap rate, clean room, no breakfast. We went on a wed and a riot broke out across the street that had to be broken up by police, so not the best area, but overall fine.

    My room was clean the ceiling was damaged badly and had mold on it from what appears to be a leak in the room above. It was cheap and that was what I was looking for when I booked it so I got what I paid for.

    Becoming a market research analyst requires at least a bachelor’s degree, but you could choose from a range of majors. For instance, Donnelly has degrees in psychology, marketing research and consumer psychology. He says market research analysts should have both analytic skills and an innate curiosity about people. He recommends taking business management and statistical courses and says a familiarization with different software programs used for data analysis is helpful. Donnelly also recommends that analysts get their Professional Research Certification, which isn’t yet a requirement for most employers, but “it helps demonstrate that you’re very serious about what you do,” he says.

    “I wasn’t terribly interested in marketing in college,” says Kate Beihl, chief marketing officer at MetaCommunications in Iowa City.

    But in 2003, when Beihl was hunting for a job in Chicago, where she lived at the time, she applied for a marketing position at what was then called Children’s Memorial Hospital (now called the Ann Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago).

    “I didn’t have very much of an idea of what it was. But it was this cool job where you were going to work on a website and on print materials. You were going to do a little design. You were going to do some writing and planning and events. And that diversity of tasks was intriguing to me.”

    Beihl ended up landing the job as marketing coordinator at the hospital and found that, in fact, she loved marketing. “I loved the variety of work that we were doing,” she says. “I loved the inside marketing that we were doing: Having a single client and being able to really, deeply understand the way the work that we did, whether it was creating brochures or a new campaign or signage, all led back to the growth of the organization.”

    The American Marketing Association defines its trade like this: “Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.”

    In addition to the actual marketing work, marketing managers have the added responsibilities of hiring staff and team building; vision casting and strategic planning; and managing budgets and tracking their results.

    We have been to PEI more times than I can count, but until this trip we had never stayed in Charlottetown or in a hotel. Previous trips have all been camping, in cabins or roadside motels and for the last many trip always with our kids. This was our first adult trip to PEI in close to 25 years.

    We booked the Delta not only because it was a name we knew but also because of it’s location. Our goal was to be able to park and explore the city with the Delta as our home base. It worked out perfectly.

    I booked a King City View room. It might have been city view, but honestly it was still great!

    The bed was comfortable, the pillows were great. There is a large sitting area with a sofa and a flat screen TV. The room was very clean.

    Check In and Check Out were so simple. I used their app to do a pre-checkin and the rooms keys were waiting when we arrived. Couldn’t have been any easier.

    All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful.

    The location of the Delta is perfect. You can walk to the water, downtown or just explore and you still stay fairly central to the hotel.

    I would most definitely stay here again and hope to book another Delta soon!

    This hotel is in a great location in Charlottetown. You can walk out the front door and you are literally on the waterfront where you can stroll to Peakes Wharf which has live music daily, lots of great restaurants and ice cream and gorgeous views along the boardwalk. You can also stroll to the Confederation Centre of the Arts, Victoria Row, Province House – really the location could not be better. We had a view of the water from our room and it was gorgeous! I don’t think the stay would have been as special without that view so it is well worth asking for a view of the water. The room was very large with two queen beds, a closet, dresser, mini-fridge, nice big bathroom and my favourite part, a lovely cushioned window seat overlooking the water. The lobby is beautiful and the staff were very attentive. We did not use the restaurant but it looked really nice. The workout area and pool were a bit dated but everyone still enjoyed the facilities. You had to pay for parking so we ended up using the valet service for a few more dollars a day. The only strike against the hotel was the elevators were slow, but honestly, talk about a first world problem!!

    Gym
    Well equipped, two rooms, one for cardio and machines, another full of weights, everything you need even for hard core lifters.
    Pool and hot tub by gym, clean and well kept.

    Service
    We had great service, we valet parked and the vehicle was always promptly brought around, front desk and housekeeping and restaurant all provided excellent service.

    CIT Bank is Not Citibank High Yield Savings Account Review

    It s been a LONG time since I last took a look at another online savings account offering because quite frankly, they are literally all the same to me. After all, practically every option offers the usual transfer by ACH, FDIC insurance, better than traditional savings account but still only modest rates etc.

    But I ve been getting a few email questions about CIT Bank lately on whether they are related to Citibank. So let me clear this up. CIT Bank has nothing to do with Citibank. CIT Bank is owned by CIT Group and Citibank is owned by Citigroup (I know, this is clear as mud so let me explain further). Both parent companies trade on the New York Stock Exchange, but CIT Bank has a ticket symbol of CIT and Citigroup has a ticket symbol of C. They are two separate institutions.

    CIT s History

    Though you may not have heard of CIT before, they’ve actually been around since 1908, when Henry Ittleson founded the company to provide financing for businesses in St. Louis. Through steadied growth and solid business practices one century later, CIT Group is now a global operation with offices in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America (both Canada and the United States) helping clients in more than 30 industries. With $33 billion in finance and leasing assets primarily focusing on small and medium sized businesses, the CIT Group is a decent sized operation.

    Is My Money Safe?

    There s really only one thing you need to care about when it comes to your protection, which is whether the bank is a member of FDIC. Fortunately, a quick look shows that CIT Bank has an active membership since October 20, 2000 with FDIC using certificate number: 35575. This means that each depositor is insured to at least $250,000, making your money pretty safe.

    You may also be pleased to know that CIT is a Small Business Administration (SBA) Preferred Lender, which should give you confidence that it s an institution that has traditionally done the right thing.

    No Fees


    Most banks have a no fee policy, which means no account maintenance fee and closure fees. But what I like about CIT Bank is that they extend the idea to have no fees for requesting a check to be mailed out to you either. In addition, incoming wire transfers are free for all members, and outgoing wires are also free if your daily balance is $25,000 or higher ($10 otherwise). I know I could use this feature since I wire money about 4-5 times a year, which costs $40 a piece at my current bank.

    Who Cares if Rates are So Low?

    This is a legitimate question I get quite a bit these days due to current low interest rate environment. But don t confuse low rates with no rates. You ll still earn interest on your money that you otherwise wouldn t if you keep it in your checking account.

    One plus I like about CIT Bank is that they actually encourage you to save by giving high depositors a better rate. Currently, you get a 0.15% bump if your daily balance is above $25,000. The increase isn t earth shattering, but at least it s not the other way around like some checking accounts where they penalize you for having more money!

    So What s the Verdict?

    Rate hoppers will be happy that there is yet another option, because CIT Bank s rates are currently right at the very top amongst the many different high yield savings options. For others who are tired of banks advertising a certain rate and then quickly changing it once you put money into the account, you d also be happy to know that CIT Bank hasn t been playing around with their rates since I learned of them many months ago. There s no telling whether this practice will change, but at least the early signs are good.

    Give them a shot if you are looking for someplace to park your hard earned savings.

    I flew several times in 2016 from Innsbruck to Berlin, with stopover in Frankfurt, and the stretch INN-FRA was provided by Austrian. They always use a very very small propeller plane with tiny space inside and despite my hand luggage size was always approved on check in, they carried it always in the luggage van, not in the cabin, and you have to recover if afterwards on the plane foothills on landing; when it rains ( and it happens quite often) and you have to wait a couple of minutes on the airstrip, is not pleasant.

    I want to share a bad experience with Austrian Airlines so others can see what type of Airline Company they are. I recently traveled overseas for work. Austrian Airlines lost my baggage for 6 days. All I had was the outfit that I was wearing. On day 5 my boss instructed me to purchase more clothes. I had to adhere to the company dress code. So on day 5, after wearing the same clothes for 5 straight days without washing, I purchased 2 outfits. The outfits cost about $200 (US). I sent a copy of the receipt and my lost baggage claim to the company email, faxed it to their fax machine, and mailed a copy to Austrian Airlines headquarters. They did not respond to any of my requests. Austrian Airlines did not have the integrity or fortitude as a company to acknowledge the issue. I want everyone who is considering traveling with Austrian Airlines to know the type of business they are and how much they do not care about their customers. If I would have got my luggage prior to spending cash of my pocket book, I would not of thought twice, but the airline has forced me to pay $200 (US) for their mistake. This is poor customer service and business practice. I travel frequently and by far this

    Appalled at the service I received on a flight from Shanghai to London. The cabin crew were extremely unpleasant, unhelpful & arrogant. The food was bland and looked unappetising to say the least. The selection of movies to watch were good however pointless since the sound quality was extremely poor. I have flown business class with Austrian Airlines previously and they were fantastic however my experience flying economy proves that the level of class you fly obviously determines the service you receive. I most certainly would not recommend this airline to anyone.

    Storyline

    It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family named Kevin got into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz and was sent to his room which is on the third floor of his house. Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forgot about Kevin who now has the house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents’ bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv, about to rob his house on Christmas Eve.     Surreal and hilarious

    Home Alone is one of the most popular movies from the early 90 s. Its success was phenomenal and it also made Macaulay Culkin a superstar.

    The plot is quite original and surreal: a child who is home alone and capable of making the bandits s lives miserable? Sure, it s an impossible story, but who cares? Far from being a perfect movie, it is however okay and fun to watch, entertaining and contains slapstick humor too although I don t like some of the language used.

    Our story takes place in Chicago at Christmas time, which makes this a Christmas film. In fact, the movie has lots of Christmas decorations, lights, snow and many other details which create the feeling and magic so characteristic of Christmas. To accent the Christmas atmosphere even more, there are a cup of nice Christmas carols such as Rockin Around the Christmas Tree (performed by Brenda Lee), You re a mean one, Mr. Grinch , White Christmas , Carol of the Bells , Oh Holly Night and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and some brilliant instrumental musics.

    Kevin McCallister is the hero of the story. He s not just any kid, he s a very smart one. He also knows all about the intentions of the wet bandits Harry and Marv and prepares them lots of unexpected surprises . Their lives won t be easy with Kevin defending his house. Sure, they are the villains and as such they get what they deserve, but they do suffer a lot too. We almost feel sorry for them.

    The wet bandits were nicknamed like that by Marv because their calling card (according to him) was to let the water running in every houses they robbed. That said, both wet bandits are hilarious. Harry is more cranky, while Marv is the most stupid of the two (although both are stupid) and maybe that s why people tend to sympathize more with him. Marv s stupidity also makes him the funniest of the two. Marv is the typical tall and clumsy guy with no brain, a bit like Averell Dalton from the Lucky Luke comics.

    The movie has lots of funny moments. The funniest for me is when Harry and Marv pretend to be Santa Claus and his elf and the way Harry speaks in that scene, followed by the even funnier part when Kevin fires at Harry s pants. Whenever Kevin fools the bandits in a try to make them believe the whole family is at home when Kevin is all alone is funny too. For some reason, I also find funny whenever Kevin screams maniacally (particularly when he says he s not afraid anymore and sees Old Marley and screams out loud.

    The scenes which Kevin fools and scares the Little Nero s Pizza boy and Marv with the gangster film Angels with Filthy Souls are hilarious, but in the case of the Pizza boy it is unfair for him. There was no need to scare the hell out of him – he was just delivering pizza and wasn t after Kevin.

    Old Marley is an interesting character. I always felt sorry for him because of the lies Buzz tells about him. And the man never did anything bad to anyone. Buzz is a jerk and Uncle Frank is even worse. Buzz is mean for Kevin and Uncle Frank openly dislikes Kevin. When Uncle Frank tells Kevin Look what you did, you little jerk! , Kevin s parents should tell him something like Frank, stay out of this and shut up! .

    The church is magnificent. It s one of the biggest and most beautiful churches I ve ever seen in a movie.

    Macaulay Culkin is terrific as the clever kid Kevin McCallister. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are awesome as the wet bandits and Roberts Blossom is great as the character Old Marley. It s also delightful to see John Candy as Gus Polinski, the Polka King of the Midwest .

    Chevrolet Avalanche

    The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door pickup truck introduced by General Motors in 2002, and significantly revamped for the 2007 model year. With an unusual midgate that converts the truck from SUV to expanded-length pickup, the Avalanche has few competitors save for GM’s own Cadillac Escalade EXT; the four-door Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab, and the Honda Ridgeline are similar in utility, if not execution.

    The Avalanche is part sport-utility vehicle, and part pickup truck–something of a Swiss Army Knife among trucks. The cabin has nearly the same room as GM’s traditional SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Suburban. However, the short pickup bed can be expanded in length and volume via the “Midgate”–a fold-down panel that divides the external bed from the interior. When folded down, the Avalanche sports a nearly full-sized pickup bed, though it’s no longer enclosed like a sport-ute. In the current generation, the bed expands from 5′ 3″ to 8′ 2″. The Midgate gives it distinct advantages over vehicles like the Honda Ridgeline, which also has a short bed but a fixed wall separating the cabin and the cargo area.

    In its first generation from the 2002-2006 model years, the Avalanche drew praise for its flexibility, but some critics and consumers were turned off by the plastic cladding added to give it a distinct look from the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups that also share its architecture. The current Avalanche has much less plastic trim outside, a well-designed interior, and seating for five or six passengers, depending on configuration of the seats.

    Previous generations have included other V-8 powertrains and transmissions. Through the final few model years, a sole engine and transmission were offered on the Avalanche. It’s GM’s 5.3-liter V-8, teamed to a six-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive. The engine is flex-fuel capable, meaning it can be filled with E85 ethanol-blended gasoline. Fuel economy isn’t wonderful, but 14/20 mpg is respectable for a truck of this size and capacity. The latest generation of GM trucks has well-sorted steering, ride, and handling, thanks to independent suspensions up front and coil springs in the rear.

    The Avalanche has earned five-star crash ratings in the past from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), and options include a rearview camera and Bluetooth.

    The Avalanche is closely related to the Cadillac Escalade EXT, with much in common with the Silverado/Sierra pickups and the Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade SUVs. Unlike those vehicles, the Avalanche is not offered under another name by GMC, and it does not come with a Hybrid option.

    In 2012, Chevy announced that the 2013 Avalanche would close out the model’s production run. A final Black Diamond edition marks the end of the line, with more standard features bundled together, denoted by special Black Diamond badging.

    Fine acting and hugely entertaining

    This film is a great movie for its fighting scenes and its music score and its drama and wonderful script. Elvis acts amazingly well with Hope Lange. There is a sadness to the movie when the character played by Elvis starts to tell the story of how he could have saved his mother from dying. It’s emotionally sensitive and well made.

    Ooma Office review: This VoIP-based phone system makes small businesses seem big

    Every business must interact with its customers via the telephone at some point. And it won’t matter how great your employees are, or how superb your product might be, if your customers have a bad experience trying to reach the right people on the phone.

    A full-featured phone system capable of handling multiple phone lines, conference calls, voicemail, and other features can lend a small office a larger and more professional air. But getting all these features can entail a significant capital expense involving custom equipment and professional installation. And a platform that supports remote workers can render the system even more complex and expensive.

    Ooma has a better idea. The company has developed a business-oriented version of its very successful home-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system. Ooma Office is a full-featured virtual PBX (Private Branch Exchange) that can support multiple phone lines, five extensions, and 15 virtual extensions at a very low cost (for both the equipment and the service).

You can add two additional extensions (the Linx modules shown above, plus the telephone handsets you provide separately) for a one-time cost of $50 each.

    This being a VoIP system, you probably want to know about voice quality before you read any further. You needn’t worry: It’s excellent. I can’t say the same of the synthesized voice of the virtual receptionist, but there is an alternative. More on that later.

    How much does it cost?

    The Ooma Office starter pack includes a central Ooma base station, two Linx modules, one phone number (you can port your business’s existing phone number for free), an online fax, and three physical extensions (one for the base station and one for each Linx module). The Linx modules communicate with the base station using the DECT 6.0 wireless protocol, so you don’t need to worry about them sucking up your Wi-Fi network’s bandwidth, or having just the right infrastructure for power-line networking.

    The hardware costs $250, plus a subscription fee of $10 per month per user and $10 per month per phone number. The system will support two additional Linx modules at a one-time cost of $50 each. Buying additional phone numbers lets you map them to extensions, so that callers can reach your employees directly without going through the virtual receptionist.

    You will, however, need to provide your own conventional handsets for the system (as fancy or as plain as you like, wired or wireless. Just plug one into the base station and one into each Linx.) You’ll also need broadband Internet service (since that’s how VoIP works). Calls within the U.S. and Canada are free. International calls are billed against a prepaid account (prepayments are made in increments of $25).

    Features and functions

    Now that you have a grasp of how much Ooma Office costs, let’s take a look at the features it offers, and how well they work. Incoming calls can be routed to a virtual receptionist, or if you purchase additional phone numbers, you can route them directly to the extensions you assign. The virtual receptionist can greet callers with custom messages created with a text-to-speech converter, or with audio files that you record and upload.

    The receptionist’s synthesized female voice is good, but not great. Most businesses will likely prefer to record their own greetings—both for that personal touch and to make sure people can understand everything the virtual receptionist needs to say. But you’ll need to provide your own mic and recording software to do this. You can also upload on-hold music in the form of an MP3 or WAV file, but you’re limited to a stingy file size of just 5MB.

    Callers are greeted by a virtual receptionist that will help direct their call to the right employee or department.

    The virtual receptionist has separate menus for business hours and after hours, and you can assign commands to each of the 10 buttons on a phone (0 through 9). For example: “Press zero to talk to an operator,” “For Sales, press 1,” “Press 4 to reach [employee name],” “Press 5 to dial by employee name,” “Press 8 to leave a general voicemail,” and so on. If you prefer, you can configure the system so that incoming calls bypass the virtual receptionist, and are instead routed to a specific extension.

    The system is very flexible at setting business and off hours. You can define a different schedule for every day of the week. You can also define a holiday schedule, and you can even define multiple time intervals for each day. But you can record only one greeting for business hours and one for after hours. An office that’s closed for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 each day, for example, can’t record a message to inform callers that it’s only temporarily closed.

    Each phone connected to Ooma Office has its own three-digit extension. Incoming calls can be directed to these extensions via the virtual receptionist, users with physical extensions can use these numbers to call each other (outside workers with virtual extensions cannot), and all workers can transfer calls to each other—including to workers working at remote locations and using virtual extensions.

    Users with physical extensions (that’s everyone under the same roof) can call each other using their internal phone numbers. Calls can be transferred to both physical and virtual extensions (those are employees at other locations).

    Each extension also has its own private, PIN-protected voicemail, and voicemail messages can be converted to text and emailed to the person assigned to that extension. If you have employees who travel frequently or who work outside the office, calls to their extensions can be automatically forwarded to another number, such as a cell phone. These virtual extensions can still be assigned voicemail accounts.

    If you establish ring groups, multiple extensions will ring at the same time. If you have several sales people in the office, for example, you can program the virtual receptionist to announce “Dial 1 for sales,” and the call will be simultaneously routed to several extensions, including virtual extensions. Whichever extension responds first, takes the call. The system is very easy to program using a Web-based interface.

    Ooma Office supports three-way conference calls, placing calls on hold, and call waiting. The last major feature I’ll cover here is the conference bridge. This enables a business to host its own conference calls for up to five participants. This feature is protected by a PIN to prevent unauthorized users from dialing in (the same PIN is used for all participants), but it does consume one of the available extensions.

    This product is too limited for operations with more than a handful of employees, but operations with one to five employees—especially virtual businesses with employees who work remotely or who travel frequently—will find lots of value in Ooma Office. It can make a small business seem big, and it save small businesses lots of money on phone bills.

    One of the things I like best about SiSense is how it’s out of the box ease of use has the ability to evolve into a much more advanced analytics tool with continued use. Plugins, custom javascript, upgrades, and new features ensure that I’m always improving the analytics I can do with the tool. Also the ability to set regular email reports, download dashboards as pdfs, and quickly push changes to the users lets us answer business questions on demand in a way we never could before.

    One of the things I dislike most about SiSense is their Elasticbue build process. As our data models have expanded we’ve found it difficult to manage the build times of our larger cubes which can take several hours to build. For instance, we cannot build changes to the cube while one of the regularly scheduled builds is occurring and the ‘stop build’ functionality has never been very responsive. It is my understanding that the next version will completely redesign the build process so I’m looking forward to seeing these changes.

    Recommendations

    When evaluating BI software don’t worry about how ‘pretty’ the dashboards can be. While the flashy widgets and beautiful charts have an initial appeal you’ll quickly find that the most important information you can show the end users is KPIs and pivot tables supported by some graphs. Ease of use, the ability to transform data, and quickly publish dashboards to users is much more important in the long run. This is the reason we stopped using Tableau and are strictly using SiSense now.

    A fast learning curb with an on-boarding process will get you right to the point where you can generate beautiful dashboards and start collecting insights, Sisense will go out of its way to make it easy for you to use their solution, with great customer support team, side solutions and constant product updates.

    Some of the default machine (server) requirements are high, should be considered when expecting major expansion of the business.

    There are other solution out there and that haven’t got the chance to check, so I can’t compare.

    The new version of the product was not test driven long enough. The older version was chosen out of so many other BI offerings. It is hard to nitpick an area of improvement now. Every team member I polled in my company only has good words to say about SiSense.

    Recommendations

    Do your homework in terms of research, not by just looking at the Magic Quadrant. Gather the precise objectives a BI solution must deliver. Do not pick too many vendors, and do not start with polls like “What do you use for BI?” It will just make you read all the BI solution names. Then narrow down to 2-3 out of 5-7. And test drive each side-by-side.

    I really do not have anything that I dislike about this product. The software is designed to provide data-view summaries of large amounts of data. The one thing that I struggle with here is that my users want to print, and Board’s printing options will never meet all the desired printouts that people would “love” to have. The big question to ask these users is “Why Print?”

    I would tell others to trust the organization, the software, and its people. I can honestly say that this vendor wants your business, and they treat you like they never want to lose your business.

    We were one of BOARD’s first Customers in Australia, and we have been using this product in our business for over 10 years. We found BOARD to be an easy to use and extremely flexible tool that has improved our business processes. As a programmer who would spend countless hours developing reports to meet the ever changing business requirements, I was blown away in the POC by the user-friendly interface and the ease to create reports so quickly on the fly to meet our entire business needs. I have not created another report program since, as BOARD can do it all. Not only is it a powerful tool for creating reports and dashboards, but the forecasting and budgeting functions that allows write back to cubes and the running of scenarios, makes it an all in one BI tool. One feature over the years that our business has embraced is the Excel Add-in feature, and due to its easy to use interface, users are able to run reports in Excel themselves.

    I really do not have anything that I dislike about this product. The software is designed to provide data-view summaries of large amounts of data. The one thing that I struggle with here is that my users want to print, and Board’s printing options will never meet all the desired printouts that people would “love” to have. The big question to ask these users is “Why Print?”

    We were one of BOARD’s first Customers in Australia, and we have been using this product in our business for over 10 years. We found BOARD to be an easy to use and extremely flexible tool that has improved our business processes. As a programmer who would spend countless hours developing reports to meet the ever changing business requirements, I was blown away in the POC by the user-friendly interface and the ease to create reports so quickly on the fly to meet our entire business needs. I have not created another report program since, as BOARD can do it all. Not only is it a powerful tool for creating reports and dashboards, but the forecasting and budgeting functions that allows write back to cubes and the running of scenarios, makes it an all in one BI tool. One feature over the years that our business has embraced is the Excel Add-in feature, and due to its easy to use interface, users are able to run reports in Excel themselves.

When I ask the support staff if BOARD can do something, the answer is usually yes. The support staff are extremely knowledgeable and responsive. If you are looking at BI Tools, I recommend organizing a proof of concept as you will not be disappointed.

    BOARD is an extremely powerful tool that is allowing us to more quickly analyze and manage our business. It is very user-friendly for creating new reports, dashboards and analyses, and we have expanded its use in numerous areas of the company. We find new uses for it nearly each day.     It’s an exciting time to be a financial advisor, since several decades ago, the position didn’t really exist. You were either a stockbroker or a community banker or even in insurance sales, according to James Kinney, a certified financial planner and founder of the New Jersey-based Financial Pathways. Now, however, financial advisors perform all these roles, from small independent practices to big investment firms.

    “As a larger portion of the industry shifts away from the banks, brokers and insurance companies, additional opportunities have opened,” writes Eric Schaefer of the Virginia-based wealth management, investment and financial planning firm Savant Capitalin an email. “As this transition takes place, many advisors have gone independent or created ensemble relationships in new businesses. These new businesses need young, energetic and driven professionals to leverage the time of senior advisors and provide for the future continuity of the business.”

    Put simply, financial advisors meet with clients and counsel them on their finances. This could mean sitting down and creating budgets to firming up retirement plans to giving advice about investing. Financial advisors can also invest a client’s funds and meet with him or her regularly to discuss their investments. Some are also licensed to sell insurance. Many times, financial advisors help plan a safe, comfortable future for their clients, but they’re also called upon when the unexpected occurs –perhaps an aging parent suddenly requires a live-in nurse, a couple plans on divorcing or a child needs to transfer to an expensive private school. Financial advisors may step in and make sense of these fiscal troubles and create a plan for moving forward. For that reason, Schaefer explains, “Good financial advisors and good teachers tend to have a lot of traits in common.” He points out that advisors must be able to listen to their clients; explain complex ideas in easy-to-understand ways; and be able to sympathize with their clients.

    This is expected to be one of the faster-growing occupations over the next decade, with a projected growth rate of 30 percent through 2024, according to the Labor Department. That’s an additional 73,900 new positions on top of the 249,400 jobs financial advisors held in 2014. The retirement of baby boomers in need of financial planning advice is one driver of the expected growth. Still, employment may be tempered by the increasing number of online advisory tools, which may divert clients from seeking financial advice in person.

    Training

    To be a financial advisor, you need financial expertise and a desire to help people. A bachelor’s degree is typically a good starting place, but you can choose a broad range of degrees – from finance to business to something entirely different. Increasingly, universities have begun offering financial planning degrees, too.

    However, Schaefer says, “My colleagues and I agree that 80 percent of our job is psychology, and only 20 percent is financial. I know successful owners of financial advisory firms that specifically recruit psychology majors for this reason. Though a business or economics degree will better prepare a professional to take industry exams or explain financial products, the ability to understand the core concerns and goals of a client or prospective client is much more valuable.”

    The Certified Financial Planner exam is required to become a CFP –a distinction that looks good to employers. You can also acquire other designations if you want to specialize in a certain area of financial planning. For instance, you can complete the necessary coursework and exam to acquire the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist, or CRPS, designation. And if you plan on buying or selling stocks or selling insurance, you’ll need to procure state-specific licenses.

    There were problems right from check in! They were terribly understaffed,their check in kiosks were ridiculously over complicated or broken! There were multiple bulbs burned out in our room,the wifi wouldn’t connect the first day, the tv in the bathroom didn’t work! Multiple staff were downright rude,one wouldn’t look up from his phone while he was talking to me! Have been staying here since 1985, after this stay I will NEVER be back.

    From the minute we checked in everything was wrong! we booked for 3 nights and on the second day our room keys did not work, when we went to the lobby they said we were supposed to be checking out! our room only got sort of cleaned once! even though we paid for parking when we checked in out keys didnt work for the parking we even had to pay to exit the parking lot so we over paid, and on check out the day they wanted to over charge us by 1 night! I’ve been staying at this hotel for years and never had a problem, but after this last horrible experience we will never stay here again! be ware if you book a room here, make sure you check your invoice so you dont get over charged!

    Rooms were outdated and request for all rooms to be connecting was not honored although I requested this a month in advance. None of the decor matched on all 3 rooms. One room did not have a mini fridge or coffee maker. Key cards deactivated twice locking me out and the thermostat on my sister’s room broke and after 3 requests it was never fixed. Room went down to 61 degrees. Had to buy sweatshirts to stay in the room.

    Visited Las Vegas to see the Hall and Oates Concert primarily but stretched it into a 4 night adventure. Husband had free Southwest tickets and I’m a Diamond rated player so the Flamingo graciously offered comped 4 nights in a Go Room. Yes, I know this isn’t the fanciest CET property but we like things just a little less fancy. The Diamond Check In folks are far too accommodating. No waiting, every visit in there they offered several bottles of water, print out of boarding passes, late checkouts. We opted in for the no maid service and received $30 in free food. And yes, the Resort Fees are waived so free wifi.

    Our Go room on the 26th floor overlooking the Bellagio Fountains and had a nice little lounge chair right at the window where I would read and drink my morning coffee from the little coffee maker in the room. Coffee shop right where the elevator doors open – Diamond line there also. The room had a king Size bed, Large flat screen TV and of course the TV in the bathroom mirror. Loved the bedside switch to open or close the window treatments though we pretty much left them open the whole time. Though I’m an old married woman I do prefer a little more than a frosted glass door separating the Bathroom but hey it still is pretty cool. No waiting on elevators and no lines for anything. The rooms were perfectly adequate, clean and quiet. Even though we had no maid service (opted out) we left the maids some cash and several unredeemed cash out vouchers for several casinos we didn’t get back to – one was for over $20 bucks alone!

    The Adult pool is fabulous but if I were to say anything less than glowing it was that you couldn’t bring in your coffee, water or drink. Husband indulged in a few $24 rum frozen drinks and a few waters. He loved the drinks. Lots of music and young adults and no signs of trouble.

    No disappointments in the Flamingo. It is so nicely located, very affordable (even if you’re paying for it), the staff is very responsive. I didn’t go to the Diamond lounge simply because we were always headed some place else.

    I do want to mention what I consider a hidden gem in Las Vegas – the Tuscany Casino. Very clean, not crowded, and Marilyn’s Café has excellent service and food. Though, like many places it is a smoking Casino but the smell was far from noticeable. I had Prime Rib on two different occasions which was unbelievably delicious and perfectly cooked. Hubster has the all you can eat Crab Legs on Friday – they do not even wait for you to finish one plate before offering another. I think it was like $13.99. For those folks who love the slot machine Cashman there are lots of them here. I won every time except one when I put in $60 bucks, played for 2 1/2 hours and cashed out with $47. Drink service was great. I’ll be visiting this little gem on each visit in the future.

    Spent two evenings down on Fremont street – even at midnight I was amazed at how many small kids are out with their parents. The Hash House a Go Go in the Plaza had quick service and I got the tower of fried green tomatoes toped with excellent chicken salad. Gambling dollars lasted here an appropriate amount of time. Husband did very well with roulette.

    Rented a car on Wednesday and drove through the desert in search of old mining towns and such. They do tours of this nature but none that would fit our schedule so I read about all the places they went and we did the same tour but in reverse. It was an incredible day and we visited Eldorado Canyon, Oatman, Chloride, Searchlight and just pulled over here and there just in amazement. Husband fell in love with Laughlin and is already searching real estate for a little place there. The only disappointing thing was the new bridge over the Hoover Dam – you can’t even tell you’re driving over the dam with the sides of the bridge so high. I know it’s the safe thing to do, I get it. But if I had my way the sides would be see through.

    Used Uber for the vast majority of our transportation and with very little exception. It was super easy to find pick up locations, shared rides, and because there are so many around the waiting time was typically less than 5 minutes. Soooo much cheaper than other modes of transportation. Love that Uber now allows you to tip through the app.

    The concert was great of course but a tip for you there: If you’re going to a concert just walk. The traffic line turning off the strip to take you to the T-Mobile Arena moves at the speed of cold molasses.

    All in all it was a great little get a way. Lost exactly the amount I planned on though my husband ended up coming home with the same amount he had when he arrived. We’ve stayed at all of the CET properties on previous trips (I’m a sucker for comped rooms) yet I can’t help but feel places like Flamingo will become a thing of the past.
