Learn What LinkedIn Does and How It Works

Business networking sites

Business networking sites

LinkedIn is a valuable resource for career and business professionals to network, get resources and support, and build relationships with potential customers, clients, and partners. It s ideal for home based business owners, freelancers, and telecommuters, as it can help them build their business and career, as well as help them avoid feelings of isolation by keeping them connected to the outside world.

What Is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a social network specifically designed for career and business professionals to connect. Over 65 million professionals use LinkedIn to cultivate their careers and businesses. Unlike other social networks in which you might become friends with anyone and everyone, LinkedIn is about building strategic relationships. How many people you connect with is less important than who you connect with. In fact, LinkedIn stops showing your actual number of connections once you have 500 because it s about quality, not quantity.

The site boasts members from just about every industry and country imaginable. In fact, many Fortune 500 executives are on LinkedIn. The site has some advertising, but it’s not as invasive as other networking sites.

Working much like the Six Degrees of Separation concept, you start by connecting with those you know and who know you, and through them build a larger network for the purpose of gaining resources, finding freelance work or clients, and building alliances and partnerships.

LinkedIn is ideal for building connections for freelance work, a customer base, potential partners, or simply to keep your job prospects open.

How Hard Is It to Learn How to Use LinkedIn?

LinkedIn has its own platform and system different from other networks, but learning how to use LinkedIn is no more difficult than learning how to use any other social networking site.

You start by creating a personal LinkedIn account and profile.

However, networking on LinkedIn is much different. You won t find members posting cat videos or pictures of what they made for dinner. LinkedIn is a site for professionals, so everything is geared toward careers and business. As you build your profile and seek out connections, endorsements, and recommendations, you ll want to be professional.

Creating Your LinkedIn Profile

All you need to get started is to create a LinkedIn login. You can also upgrade to one of the paid LinkedIn subscriptions; Premium Career, Business Plus, LinkedIn Learning, Sales Navigator (3 levels), and Recruiter Lite. Using just the basic free services is sufficient for many home business owners and it gets you features such as:

  • Having a professional profile of skills, experiences, and more
  • Limited insight into who s viewed your profile
  • Ability to see 100 profiles per search
  • Ability to save 3 searches

Upgrading increases some of these features such as seeing more information about who s viewed your profile, the number of profiles per search, and the number of searches. Plus, upgrades can include additional features such as InMail credits, which allows you to message people who are not connected to you, and premium filters, which make searching faster and easier.

Once you sign up for a LinkedIn account, either free or paid, you can create your own professional profile. Remember, this is a professional-minded website, so it’s important that information in your profile represents your business or career. LinkedIn is not the place to share cute baby photos or party pictures.

Some of the things you can add to a profile include the basics of your resume, a summary of yourself, your contact information, links to your website and/or blog, previous employers, books you ve written, projects you ve worked on, and more. Don t forget to add a professional picture, as people are reluctant to connect with someone without a photo.

Because your LinkedIn profile is like a resume or business card, it s essentially a marketing tool. For that reason, consider writing a benefits-oriented profile, so potential partners can recognize the advantage of working with you.

Once your profile is complete, you can publish it and start looking for “connections.” A connection is a person that you know or would like to know. Essentially, the idea is to create as many direct connections as you can by adding people within your own professional circle and branching out to include their connections. Your connections can also provide introductions to other professionals you might be interested in meeting. Connections can also endorse you for skills and provide you with recommendations.

How LinkedIn Can Help You Build Your Home Business

LinkedIn allows you to:

  • Have an online resume and business card where potential clients, customers, and joint venture partners can learn about and connect with you
  • Get online endorsements and recommendations for your professional abilities and your character
  • Get introductions to potential clients, customers, or colleagues
  • Search available job postings placed on the LinkedIn website by members. While you can also search the web for jobs, through LinkedIn, the big benefit is that many job posts are exclusive to LinkedIn: They aren t advertised elsewhere. Those postings often have a requirement that you have one or more LinkedIn recommendations. Additionally, there is a chance that someone within your LinkedIn network already works there or knows someone who does, giving you a big foot in the door for an interview.
  • Join various groups that align with your interests and participate in discussions. Having a group in common with another LinkedIn user is one way you can invite others into your network. Each group discussion contains its own job listings. Further, it s a place to share your expertise, and built trust and rapport needed to cultivate new clients and customers.

Staying connected with the outside world isn t the only benefit LinkedIn has to offer. Learning how to use LinkedIn and maximizing all it offers can provide stronger professional connections and boost your online reputation better than most other social networking resources.

Top 10 Social Networking Sites: Most Popular Networking Sites, business networking sites.#Business

Top 10 Social Networking Sites

Business networking sites

Top 10 Social Networking Sites for Business.

The most popular social networking sites can be defined by how many registered users they have. This article will look at the top 10 social networking sites for business, which are the most popular sites used by consumers, looking to buy products or services from a business just like yours.

If you thought social networking was just a fad, take a look at the number of registered users for the top 10 Social Networks:

  1. Facebook 908,000,000
  2. Twitter 500,000,000
  3. Google Plus 400,000,000
  4. Linkedin 187,000,000
  5. Bebo 117,000,000
  6. Tagged 100,000,000
  7. Instagram 32,000,000 +
  8. deviantART 24,000,000
  9. Pinterest 20,000,000 +
  10. FourSquare 20,000,000

That is a total of 2,308,000,000, or just over 2.3 billion registered users of social networking sites world wide.

Facebook

Facebook is the top social networking site word wide. It was launched in 2004, but was only really used by people at Harvard University, a few campuses in America and a few Universities in England. It wasn t until 2006 that Facebook was open to the general public; if you were over 13 years of age. Facebook changes constantly, with its Timeline the most significant recent change to the way your profile page looks.

Facebook is about connecting you with friends and promotes user recommendations with a like button.

Twitter

Also launched around 2006, Twitter has become popular because of its ease of use, and is often called the SMS of the Internet. Messages are referred to as Tweets containing a maximum of 140 characters long. To give you an idea of the growth of Twitter, there were around 1.6 million tweets posted for 2007, 400 million in 2008, and in 2012 it was estimated that Twitter users tweet 140 million tweets per day.

Twitter is also popular for sending direct messages to each other privately on mobile phones. Twitter has a Tweet button that allows for a recommendation and link to a website page.

Google Plus

Ranked third for registered users, Google Plus, or Google+ is the search engine giant s most recent attempt to break into the social networking arena. With a G+1 button, users can recommend links in the same way Facebook does with its like button. There are many similarities to how Google have set up their social networking site, compared to Facebook, but also quite a few improvements; noticeable better privacy controls and the way you include people into circles of friends. Although Google says they have over 400,000,000 registered users, the number would be skewed due to the integration with all of their other products. As a stand alone product there are about 100,000,000 active Google+ users world wide, however with Google being able to integrate into their search results; unmatched by Facebook and with an unrivalled range of other products, it has come along way, fast since the 2011 launch, so watch this space!

For people serious about search engine optimisation, Google Plus is a must because Google Authorship linked via your Google Plus Page is now a factor in Google s search results.

Linkedin

Launched in May 2003, Linkedin was popular amongst business people and professionals as a way to create a network of connections . At the end of 2012, it is estimated that two business, professional people were joining Linkedin per second world wide.

The main thrust of this social networking site is to allow users to maintain a list of contact details of people they have some level of interaction; what Linkedin refers to as connections .

Registered users invite people; whether registered or non registered users to become a connection.

Bebo, launched in 2005 puts your life online, on a timeline in chronological order with images, video and stories you create and load up. Roomers of Bebo shutting down circulated in 2012. Bebo offers shopping online, music and is a dating site too. Time will tell if it continues to grow, or loses users to the other social sites.

Tagged

Tagged launched in 2004 and focuses on finding new friends, rather than most other social networking sites which focus on existing relationships. With Tagged, you are on the road to social discovery, meeting and socialising with new people from the 24 million registered users in 220 countries throughout the world.

Instagram

Instagram is a way you can share what s going on in your life with friends through pictures. Used by people with smart-phones that have an in-built camera, you can take a photo of something and by choosing a filter , transform the image into a memory that will be kept forever. The Instagram concept is to document your life through pictures in real time.

These pictures can be shared on other social networking sites such as Flickr, Facebook and Twitter.

There is also the option that allows for specifying a location with the photo and Instagram will check you in on FourSquare.

deviantART

deviantART was developed to be a social networking site for artists, that allowed artists; whether established or not to showcase their artwork with art enthusiasts. Launched in 2000, deviantART is the largest social networking site for artists, with 65 million new visitors going to the site each month.

Pinterest

Pinterest is a way you can organise and share what you find on the web. You create boards , allowing others with similar interests to see what you like. The site is not about getting friends but rather to display who you really are, sharing recipes, planning a special event in your life, renovating the home etc.

FourSquare

FourSquare is a free app or application that is about sharing your geographical location when you visit places. You are linked to other users; who are your friends, so can recommend and be recommended to visit a place you are near. You can promote a restaurant with special offers, or a car yard that you got a good deal on a car with, it s up to you.

Summary

It would be impossible to keep up with writing content if you joined all of the social networking sites, even just these ten, so you are best to target your efforts to the top 3 social networking sites for business, which at the moment are Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Others can be used for personal use, if you would like to share and interact with people who have invited you to join their network.

Just a word of caution though, social networking can become very time consuming and can take you away from focusing on your core business.

It is advised that you actually read the terms and conditions that these, and all other social networking sites have and make you agree to when you sign up to understand what rights you are assigning over every time you load content; text and images to them. Most say that you are handing over the copyright rights to them, meaning that your images are now owned by them, to use how they see fit for their own purposes.

Thinking IT can keep your social networking sites updated by linking them to your website, so every time you add new content to your website, the social sites get updated too; saving you time and money.

5 Useful iPhone Apps for Business Networking, business networking sites.#Business #networking #sites

Business networking sites

This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70% of all jobs are found through networking. It’s no surprise, then, that so many businesspeople are on the lookout for tools to improve their networking skills. With the growing collection of business apps in the App Store, the iPhone is becoming a portable toolkit for business professionals everywhere.

However, with thousands of business apps out there, sorting through the options can be a bit of a task. Below is a list of five useful iPhone apps that will help you become a better business networker.

1. Meet People with Happening

Business networking sites

Happening ($1.99) allows you to find nearby events and RSVP from the comfort of your iPhone. You can also browse your friends’ events and view your own upcoming events. The app relies on Yahoo! Upcoming, a social events calendar system, to supply nearby event data.

2. Exchange Information using LinkedIn

Business networking sites

The free iPhone app gives you the power to connect with over 60 million professionals worldwide. My favorite feature is the ability to connect instantly with nearby users by enabling Bluetooth within the “In Person” feature. You can also set your status, invite contacts, accept invitations, read and respond to messages and keep up with your contacts’ updates.

3. Meet in the Middle using MeetMe

Business networking sites

There’s nothing more annoying than emailing back and forth with a colleague to try to figure out where to meet up for coffee, lunch or drinks. For these situations, there’s MeetMe ($0.99), an app designed to help people meet in the middle. You input two locations (or use your current location and input your colleague’s address) and it locates suitable venues in the middle. The search can be narrowed down by type of venue, and you can store contacts and venues in your favorites for future use. From there, you can email directions to yourself and your colleague. The only thing left to do is meet up and have a good time.

4. Organize Business Cards with WorldCard Mobile

Business networking sites

WorldCard Mobile ($5.99) is just one of the options out there for mobile business card scanning and storage. After a card is scanned in, the app identifies as much information from the card as possible and stores it in your contacts, where you can edit any scanning errors that may have occurred. If you’re a light-weight user or would like to try out the app before buying it, there is a free Lite version available that has limited exporting capabilities.

Other business card scanner options include Business Card Reader ($5.99) and ScanBizCards ($5.99). The steep pricing on these apps may just be worth it if you’re on the search for a solution to losing or maiming business cards. The only catch is that all of these scanners only work with the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, as the iPhone 3G camera isn’t capable of handling such detailed images.

5. Manage Relationships with Contacts Journal

Business networking sites

To make sure you stay in touch with your networks, try a tool like Contacts Journal ($1.99), a contacts relationship management system that helps you keep track of interactions with individuals. Over time, the details of a relationship can start to fade. Contacts Journal allows you to keep detailed notes on all of your interactions (meetings, phone calls, emails, etc.) with each contact and to plan for the future by using the to-do list to add upcoming events to each contact’s log. You can even call, email or SMS from within the app.

10 Best Stock Market Investment News, Analysis Research Sites

Ah, investing a word that can strike fear into the hearts of even the most burly and masculine of men. A subject with such a broad and potentially confusing scope of choices, it can bewilder even the most savvy of businessmen.

Even though I consider myself well-versed in general investment information, there is a world of knowledge, terminology, and strategy that is just beyond my comprehension, and will likely always be.

So where should I, the layman, turn to when I seek competent and comprehensive stock market investment research and analysis ?

Top 10 Stock Market Investment Research Websites

Keep in mind that the main focus of these sites, above all else, is equities. So if you are looking to research ETFs. mutual funds. hedge funds, or any other diversified investment type. many of these websites may not have what you are looking for.

1. Investopedia
If you are just beginning to learn about the world of investments, Investopedia is your one-stop shop for anything and everything. Here, you can look up definitions of terms, register for newsletters with valuable information, use their stock simulator to see how much an investment earns or loses over time, and much more. You can research stocks by company name or ticker symbol and get quite a bit of information about a desired company. They also have a neat Financial Edge section, which can help you with some of the important fundamental principles of personal finance and the markets.

2. Yahoo! Finance
As much as I would like to skip this one over for some of the lesser-known research portals, Yahoo! Finance is just too good. Aside from the myriad of company reports, which you are required to pay for, all of the information at Yahoo finance is free for the taking.

3. Motley Fool
Don t let the name bother you these guys are all business. Whether you are looking to do your own research, or prefer the advice of a seasoned veteran, The Motley Fool has it all. I tend to prefer to follow my own (sometimes idiotic) investment decisions, but if you need help, or want to see what the experts recommend, there are pay services at Motley Fool that may be a good option for you. I have not used them myself, but the few people that I know who have followed their advice have had nothing but positive things to say, and a good amount of success to boot.

4. The Street
If you pay any attention to the world of investing. you know the name Jim Cramer. Personally, I think he is little more than a caricature, but some people swear by him. Mr. Cramer is one of the big name contributors at The Street. That not withstanding, The Street is, in my humble opinion, the best website for investing related articles. The writers have vast knowledge and fantastic insight, without losing focus on what is important the investors for whom they write.

5. Wall Street Journal
For decades, the Wall Street Journal newspaper has been a staple for information and research for investors. Although most of us have done away with the daily black and white delivery method, the Wall Street Journal online delivers even more valuable information than its nearly obsolete predecessor. Nowadays, the Journal s online presence includes The Wall Street Journal. MarketWatch. Barron s. and SmartMoney. among others. All of these sites are valuable resources for investing information, especially when seeking out company-specific news.

6. MSN Money
Microsoft tends to be a pretty self-serving company, at least in my opinion. Even so, once you learn to glance over all of the Microsoft related news at MSN Money, what you get is another fantastic avenue for portfolio boosting. The one complaint I have with MSN Money is the formatting. When looking at stock quotes, there are no lines distinguishing ads from news or charts, which occasionally will take you off-course by clicking an advertisement by mistake.

7. Zacks Investment Research
Zack s does require a membership in order to get to the juicy stuff, but the membership is free and well worth the three minutes it takes to sign up. Here, you will be able to do in-depth research on both stocks and funds. You will also have access to many public and independent reports that will assist you on your quest for the perfect personal investment portfolio .

8. Investor Guide
Investor Guide has many of the same features you ll notice on other sites on this list, so why does it make my top ten? The stock helper tool. First, this tool helps you to determine an optimal investing strategy and style. Then, it provides a list of companies for you to research. Once your list is complete, you will see what others think of each company on your research list. Investor Guide does a great job of aggregating this information from many different sites for you. You will then evaluate the company s competition, decide what to buy, and reap the benefits.

9. Seeking Alpha
Seeking Alpha is amazing. My one complaint is that there is actually too much information packed into one page, which at times can make it difficult to navigate. If it weren t for the massive amount of content on Seeking Alpha, it would be much higher on this list. Company news is the main focus of the site, so if you have a list of companies to research, this is a pretty good place to start.

10. Online Brokerages
Personally, my account has been housed at Sharebuilder for years now, and their research tools are very good. In the beginning, they had a clumsy interface that was slow and filled with glitches. Since then, they have done an amazing job of streamlining and improving content to the point of near perfection. No matter who you invest with online, be sure to use their research tools, as most of them have easy to use interfaces with plenty of information to sort through. Some of the more popular online stock brokers include E*TRADE. TradeKing. Scottrade. and OptionsHouse .

Final Word

When you are looking to conduct your own investment research, closely monitor where you go online. It is very easy to end up on hot stock pick sites, penny stock investing sites, or poorly executed attempts at legitimacy. Many of these sites are fronts for someone to sell you their foolproof system or something similar. Everything I have provided above is free of charge, though a few of them offer paid services above and beyond what most of us need.

Do you have a preferred investment research site? Tell us about them and what features you like most in the comments below.

You are looking at Matthew Breed. He is a 30 year old sports nerd who lives in North Florida with his fiancee, Sarah. Originally in school for a Business degree that did not work out due to capricious youth and irresponsibility, he is currently “getting past” his Peter Pan syndrome and attends classes for a degree in Information Technology while working full time. His care for personal finance stems from a modest upbringing with fiscally responsible parents who highly value education and frown upon frivolity.

heyyy . Nice post you have been shared here. I would like to look forward to the next post. Thanks for sharing .will be waiting for the next post. It helps me a lot.

There s just so much tripe on Seeking Alpha that I ve stopped going there. Anyone can be a self-appointed expert on the site and there is a lot of pumping that goes on in the guise of analysis. Don t know how you can separate the wheat from the chaff.

http://www.dividendinvestor.com/ Richard Gere

Hi, some great sites. Google’s Finance can also be included. Thoughts?

I honestly can t imagine how you consider SeekingAlpha to be an informational site. Journalistically bankrupt. Opinions, not facts. The same useless opinions cycled over and over. Surely you can do better?

None of your business

Would the author of this site mind putting a DATE on his article? Or is not putting a date on it a sleazy way of milking more hits out of the page?

I agree. Investopedia is a great resource for learning stock trading.

Best online analysis is in INVESTOOLS at TD Ameritrade. They are now Number 1 in the industry.

Stock Rover is a great tool for individual investors, all the data in one dashboard. And its free! Premium version isnt too expensive either

As FatMan points out below, Seeking Alpha is garbage. Ask any CFA level analyst and you will get the same response. So much of it is agenda driven content/amateur hour content.

You’re probably already on the major social networks Facebook, LinkedIn, maybe even Twitter. But if you’re not on physician-oriented social networking sites, you’re missing out.

Doctor social networking sites offer connection, crowd-sourcing, education, and even some fun.

Here are the 9 (plus a few more) social networking sites you need to be on, in order of importance. Plus I added a few niche sites for fun.

General connection sites

These are the real must-haves. These sites boast an impressive number of physician users, and offer doctors more than enough utility to justify signing up and playing around.

1. Sermo

Target demographic: “Verified and credentialized” physicians worldwide, including physicians from the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Italy, Argentina, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, New Zealand, France, Finland, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, and Israel. More countries coming soon.

Sermo is the biggest, most successful social network for doctors. It’s geared toward connecting doctors who don’t know each other so you can collaborate. They call it a “virtual doctors lounge.”

The goal is medical crowd-sourcing, like a Quora for doctors. You can ask real-life medical questions and get real-life answers from hundreds of your peers. One way that Sermo is better than Quora is that it’s physician-only, and you can ask questions anonymously.

2. Doximity

Target demographic: U.S. healthcare professionals

Doximity is a newer kid on the block. The website is better designed than Sermo and it’s almost as popular. Functionally, it’s like Facebook and LinkedIn had a baby and it grew up to be a doctor.

Doximity is aimed at connecting you to doctors you already know — colleagues, classmates, and co-residents. The company claims on their website that 60% of U.S. physicians are on Doximity, and quotes Fortune saying they have more member physicians than the American Medical Association. Of course the “Find your profile” call-to-action on the site indicates that some of those physicians have profiles despite not signing up yet.

The LinkedIn functionality comes from data on compensation trends in your specialty and geographic area, a job board, and tools to earn and track your CME credits. It facilitates earning Category 1 credits by reading medical journals, and offers free faxing from your mobile phone.

3. DailyRounds

TechCrunch calls DailyRounds “a service for doctors that combines elements of a social network and a medical journal.” In September venture capital firm Accel handed an undisclosed sum to the service, with help from Beenos, Powerhouse Ventures, and Aksua Holdings.

Two years ago Dr Deepu Sebin was inspired by the way developers used Stack Overflow to teach their peers across different organizations by detailing how they accomplished their goals. Doctors can use DailyRounds to exchange wisdom, upload and view medical case files, and access a drug database. You can also chitchat and network on the desktop or through iOS and Android apps.

4. QuantiaMD

Target demographic: US physicians

Less a social network, and more a learning and collaboration platform, QuantiaMD is like a Lynda.com for doctors. It helps physicians stay ahead by interacting with and learning from experts and peers, on computers, tablets and phones.

Specific utility sites

These are the sites you should join if you need the specific utility they offer.

5. Figure1

Target demographic: Healthcare professionals and students in more than 100 countries

Need feedback from other doctors on what you’re seeing? With Figure1, you can share images of patient ailments to get other physicians’ opinions, and access others’ images to educate yourself on rare illnesses.

Scrolling through the images can help you recognize rare conditions in your patients. And if you live in an isolated locale, Figure1 can be a great source of connection to other physicians.

Figure1 protects patient privacy by removing identifying information from the images such as faces and tattoos automatically, as well as having humans review every image before it appears on the app.

6. Incision Academy

Incision Academy, as you might have guessed from the name, is much more of a MOOC platform than a social network. It’s like Khan Academy, but for learning how to cut people up (and sew them up) right. The social part of it is that its goal is to help surgeons share their techniques with other surgeons across the world. The promotional video describes Incision Academy as “the next step towards a universal surgical language.” And it’s first, and “core” value is sharing. “Sharing surgical skills will improve the quality of surgical care,” the video explains.

Google+ Communities

7. Digital Healthcare: Social Media and Online Tools

This Google Plus Community connects healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.

8. Healthcare Medical Software Information

Enable Anonymous Access for SharePoint 2010/2013/2016

Here are 8 simple steps on how to set up anonymous access for SharePoint 2010/2013/2016 publishing sites. Even though, the screenshots below are taken from SharePoint 2010 server, the administration GUI is the same for SharePoint 2010, 2013 and 2016.

1. Starting in Central Administration, under Application Management, click on the Manage web applications.

2. Make sure you select the site you want to enable anonymous access and click on the Authentication Providers icon.

3. On the Authentication Providers pop-up window click on the Default zone.

4. Under Edit Authentication, check Enable anonymous access and click Save.

5. Going back to Web Application Management click on the Anonymous Policy icon.

6. Under Anonymous Access Restrictions select your Zone and set the Permissions to None – No policy and click Save.

7. Now, web application will allow anonymous access to be set. So, navigate to your top level site collection for the web application. Click the Site Actions Site Settings. Under Users and Permissions click Site permissions.

That s all, folks! If you followed these steps properly you should have now Anonymous Access enabled.

Enable Anonymous Access for SharePoint 2010/2013/2016 was last modified: September 11th, 2016 by Luis Kerr

Matthew Lamb says:

I also found at stage 8 that I did not have the Anonymous Access option in the Site Permissions page.

This was because I had extended a web application for anonymous access in the Internet zone, but SharePoint for some reason had extended a DIFFERENT web application to the one I had selected. So when I accessed my new URL (for the anonymous site) I was actually seeing the wrong site collection. Everything looked correct in Central Admin, though.

I ended up unextending the web application (using the drop-down on the Delete option in the Web Applications management page of Central Admin, and selecting Remove SharePoint from IIS Web Site), and then re-extending it again into the internet zone. The second time it worked properly.

For those who are experiencing trouble on step 8, make sure you are accessing the site from the home site not the central administration portal . Also you need a user with elevated rights.

Btw Thanks for the post. It really helped.

With our OHosti VPS, you get an entire server. This is optimal for people that have very high traffic to their websites or need to setup their server in a very specific way. Not everyone needs to have a fully dedicated web server however. If you’re just getting started with your website, you can save quite a bit of money if you get a free small portion of the server. Shared hosting is when you share a portion of the server with other users rather than rent an entire server to yourself. If you are considering a dedicated server and are unsure if it is right for you, perhaps you will need to get Free VPS Hosting.

What is our free reseller hosting included?

Everything you need to get started is included in our Reseller packages for a single, no price (free) :

Free cPanel:
Unlike other hosting companies, we never charge you or your clients a fee to manage the content and setup of their websites. cPanel makes that easy.

Free Domains Resales:
Not only can you sell web hosting, our Reseller Program also gives you the ability to sell domain names.

IMAP, POP, SMTP Email:
We offer a variety of email protocols, meaning your clients can check emails anywhere, on any device, easily.

Free Backups and Installers:
We include the Softaculous auto-installer totally Free, so you and your clients can set up websites at the click of a button, and we back your sites up every 24-36 hours, automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Why is it all free on OHosti? How do you earn?

We’ve been providing leading free cPanel hosting services with No Ads. All this is made possible by our Paid Dedicated Servers services, including upgrades for those who need more room for growth, as well as donations from our community of users.

How long will your hosting be free?

Forever! We have provided Paid Servers services since 2010 and we have been in free hosting business since 2009.

What are your guarantees?

1. Our hosting will always be 100% free!

2. We own all our servers and locate them in high quality data centers, so no one can shut down or reload any server with your data.

3. We utilise dedicated connections to ensure we can provide enough bandwidth for all our users.

Free Domain Name Privacy

Did you know that whenever a domain name is registered, The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires your personal information be published in the WHOIS database? This includes your mailing address, phone number and email address!

With Domain Privacy Protection from OHosti Hosting we will make our information available to the public instead of yours. This can help protect you from potential spammers, telemarketers and even identity thieves. This wouldn’t cost you any thing only $0.00 annually! (Fully Free). Otherwise we would have to use the information we currently have on file for your account.

Your name will remain as the registrant contact so that you retain complete ownership of the domain.

You can register a free .com. net. org. tk. ml. ga. cf. gq (including Special Domains).

Domain Privacy Protection is available with all hosting accounts, including shared hosting, vps hosting, and our dedicated servers.

The Best Free Online Storage Sites on the Web

Updated October 17, 2016

First, why would you need to find somewhere on the Web that offers a bit of free space? Here are a few situations you might need free online storage for:

  • You want to send large files to more than one person
  • Your blog or Web site hosting provider only allows a certain amount of upload room for images, etc.
  • You want to share a very big file and your email keeps timing out or doesn t allow large file uploads

All of the above situations (and more) can be solved with the following free online storage sites. Unless otherwise noted, all of the sites noted below are absolutely free; be sure to double-check the storage time limits for your files, as many free online storage sites do have rules for file inactivity and will discontinue your account after a per-determined amount of days with no activity.

  • Dropbox. Dropbox is free, and couldn’t be easier to start up with; just sign up for a free account and you’ll instantly receive 2GB of free storage. Install the software and a folder will be created on your computer that will sync instantly with Dropbox’s servers, along with any Dropbox folders on any other systems that you intend on using the software to sync with. You can use it on the Web or download the desktop version to make everything run even more smoothly between machines.
  • Google Drive. If you have a Google account, then you already have access to Google Drive. a free storage source for files, photos, videos, and more. Google syncs your access to this information across machines, making it easy to log in to your Google account and get your files no matter what computer you might be on.
  • Mozy. Up to 2GB free storage. Requires a free download of the Mozy software; this helps you figure out which files to back up. Photos, music, emails, all can be backed up here. Best part? You don t have to give your credit card or other financial information in order to utilize Mozy s free home back up service.
  • Omemo. Omemo works as a peer to peer network to create an immense virtual hard drive. Download the software, store your files online, and take advantage of the space this service has to offer.
  • Box. Box s personal plan is free and allows for one user with up to five gigabytes worth of storage space. Streamlined sharing and collaboration with other users is also available here, as is mobile access to files stored at Box.
  • MediaFire. MediaFire puts very few limits on what you can do at their very popular service for absolutely no money. Unlimited uploads and downloads, up to 200MB file size for sharing, unlimited storage, direct linking to files (instead of jumping through hoops) and advanced sharing features are what make MediaFire an extremely attractive option for file storage.
  • DivShare. Upload all kinds of files here, including slideshows, Flash-based videos, audio playlists, Word documents, PDF files, etc. You can manage all your DivShare files easily from a centralized dashboard; from here you can also share your files with anyone you want via links and embed codes.
  • YouSendIt. YouSendIt offers a free account with up to 2GB of storage, a maximum file size of 50MB, mobile access, a desktop sync application (this comes in handy when you re trying to organize yourself), and up to one hundred maximum downloads per file.
  • Senduit. Need to share a large file with someone without setting anything up? Try Senduit – just upload your file, share a secure URL, and you re all set. While you re somewhat limited by the maximum file size of 100MB, the ease and simplicity of Senduit, not to mention how fast it is to get it going, more than makes up for it.
  • 4Shared. A quick registration (free) and you instantly have access to 10GB of storage space, instant ad-free downloads, and the ability to upload files directly from the Web.
  • Megashares. Megashares works similar to Senduit (see above); you select your file, upload it, then receive a URL that you can share with anyone you d like. Up to 10GB can be uploaded in a single session.

Is Your Inbox Out of Control?

Believe it or not, our free, daily newsletter can help you use tech better and declutter your inbox. Sign up now!

  • PhotoBucket. Photobucket is a service aimed at photo and video storage only. A free account gives you the ability to upload literally thousands of images; you can also use Photobucket s internal artistic tools to edit, tag, and organize your photos.
  • ImageShack. Similar to Photobucket, ImageShack is only for images and videos. No sign-up is required, simply upload your image and you ll instantly get an embed code or URL for wherever or however you d like to share.

7 Local Business Listing Sites You Should Claim Now

Finding time to update or create your online business listings can sometimes be a challenge. But, once you claim your listing, you can control what information and images are shown on these sites about your business, which is certainly worth the effort.

Vital information you should include on every listing:

  • Address (City, State, Zip)
  • Main Phone Number
  • Website
  • Business Hours
  • Description A description of your business, minimum 250 characters.

*Bonus Tip* If you re a brick-and-mortar business, encourage people to check-in and write a review by displaying a sign in your business window that states the sites in which you re listed.

Five Best Business Card Printing Sites #business #logo #design

#cheap business cards

#

Looking to do a little professional networking? A business card might help, but if your company won t pay to print them, you work for yourself, or want control over what s on your card, you ll have to print them on your own. Thankfully, there are plenty of great sites that print high-quality custom business cards without busting your wallet in the process. Here s a look at five of the best, based on your nominations.

Earlier in the week we asked you which business card printing sites you thought were the best. You responded with some great nominees, all of which offer custom design tools, quality cards, and decent prices, but we only have room for the top five:

If you want to make a great impression, you need a great business card. If your company won t… Read more Read more

The poll is closed and the votes are counted! To see which business card printing site you declared the winner, head over to our hive five followup post to read and discuss the champion!

If you re getting your own business cards printed and you don t have a ton of money or… Read more Read more

Moo earned its place with many of you for great, high quality cards and card stock, tons of designs (and the ability to customize or make your own), decent pricing, and plenty of deals with services like About.me and Facebook for free business cards. Moo offers mini cards and full-sized business cards, and you can design your cards through a great webapp that lets you tweak and customize the front and the back with virtually any text, image, or design you choose. If you choose, you can even customize your card order to include different photos or designs on each card, ideal for photographers looking to show off their work. You can even get NFC business cards if you want. It doesn t hurt that Moo reps are always a phone call away, and their printing and shipping are remarkably fast. Plus, they don t always watermark your cards—even when you get free ones.

A personal business card doesn t have to come from the company you work for. Sometimes, you… Read more Read more

Another more affordable option than some of the others in the roundup, GotPrint offers multiple card size, stock, and paper options, but make no mistake—the service prints business cards, not photo or designer cards. Those of you who nominated GotPrint noted that it s a great option if you have access to a designer or want simple, elegant, and clean business cards with a more traditional look. If you want something fancy and special though, the service does offer a number of cuts, shapes and colors, all of which are available at competitive prices. Many of you also praised GotPrint on their fast turnaround and quick shipping.

VistaPrint s doesn t offer the same customization tools that some of the other competitors do, but their biggest benefit is their price. The company was one of the first to offer super-affordable business card printing for individuals who just wanted their own cards for themselves or their businesses, usually tossing 250-500 free cards to any new customer who signs up. Even now a quick Google search will turn up deals where you can get free cards as long as you pay shipping. Alternatively, other codes will shave a hefty amount off of your order or give you free shipping. You usually have to choose from predetermined designs and layouts and deal with a VistaPrint watermark on the back of your card unless you re willing to pay, but if cost is king and free is your favorite flavor, VistaPrint is where it s at.

An independent printing company with serious attention to detail, JukeBox offers an incredible selection of card stock types, including traditional white paper to textured pulp and beautiful recycled paper options. The company even offers wood business cards, if you want something that s truly and completely unique. They also offer a wide variety of paper colors, typefaces, and more customization and personalization options than a lot of other printing companies. You can be sure that when you order your cards from JukeBox, they won t look like everyone else s. JukeBox s pricing is competitive (although not bargain basement—their approach is that you get what you pay for.) You ll have to supply your own designs though—no online wizard to walk you through the process, but the end result is that you get truly personal cards. The company is based in Canada, but they ship worldwide.

OvernightPrints.com

Overnight Prints, like GotPrint, specializes in all kinds of mass printing, not just business cards. They give you the option to upload your own design, use their wizard, or choose from pre-defined templates, whichever you choose. You can also choose your finish, card stock, and colors—you ll find somewhat fewer customization options here (in the wizard anyway, you can upload any design you want, or contact them for something special), but the value is in the name: OvernightPrints is committed to fast, easy, affordable printing, and will get you your order quickly without breaking the bank in the process. If you re looking for fancy designer cards they may not be the best option, but if you re looking for something traditional in large quantities without spending a ton of cash, they re worth a look.

Now that you ve seen the top five, it s time to put them all to a vote to decide the winner.

No honorable mentions this week – the vast majority of your nominations went to the five above. That said, if you have a nominee that didn t make the cut but you think really should have, don t just gripe about it below, let us know why it s better than the rest, or share some example cards you ve ordered that you think are great!

Have something to say about one of the contenders? Want to make the case for your personal favorite, even if it wasn t included in the list? Remember, the top five are based on your most popular nominations from the call for contenders thread from earlier in the week . Make your case for your favorite—or alternative—in the discussions below.

32 Business Listing Sites That Will Get You Referral Traffic

Not all online searches and transactions are performed on search engines. Directories and social media websites expand your reach and have some of the hottest leads on the web at an inexpensive cost. Whether free or paid, these marketplaces are worth spending your advertising budget on.

Should You Submit to Online Directories?

Yes! You should submit your business information and website to relevant directories, and I’ve included a list below. This list is a great sources of leads, consumer reviews and referral traffic. Free or paid, it is important you control your business profile because you need to engage and advertise to consumers where they want to be. Once you claim your profile, update any information that is inaccurate. and be sure to provide details about your business that are a selling point and may draw a new customer in. Most importantly, claim ownership now so that you can respond to positive and negative reviews of your business in the future.

How Many Is Too Many?

There is no set number of directories your business should or shouldn t be in. It s the quality and relevancy of the directories that is important to keep in mind. Links from spammy websites, hacked websites or low quality sites constitute bad neighborhoods that you don’t want to belong to. Linking to your site from these bad neighborhoods on purpose will make you a target for manual penalties from the search engines.

How to Tell Which Directories Are Legit

I have put together a list of 32 directories I recommend, below. But there are many more worth considering. If you re interested in submitting your site to a directory, take a look at the businesses listed and if you would feel comfortable calling on those businesses and they are relevant to your business, then you should feel safe submitting to and being a part of that neighborhood. The quality of the sites you are listed in is important, so stick to the best. The goal is to make sure that the most accurate, up-to-date information about your business gets published where your potential customers are searching.

Getting Started

On any of these sites, search to see if your business is already listed, then claim control of your existing listing instead of submitting a duplicate. For new submissions, I’ve linked to the deepest page that can help you set up a new business profile quickly. Also if you have a directory that you think should be included, please feel free to mention it in the comments.

Need help submitting? This can be very time consuming, and we can help. You can start by evaluating the accuracy of your listing using our free tool, and claim control quickly and easily by syndicating your information through our network, or we can do the legwork for you.

The Top Sites For The Latest Stock Market News

With computer aided ultra-short term high frequency, arbitrage and speculative trading becoming dominant over manual trading. profitable opportunities vanish within seconds (or even milliseconds). Traders struggle to find efficient ways to trade based on news, as news items are generally in multiple formats from various sources and timely availability remains a challenge.

This article lists the top websites, news portals and other sources which allow traders and investors about timely availability of news for stocks, forex. economy, etc.

News requirements based on trader’s profile :

News requirements vary based on trader’s profile. Long term investors usually don’t trade based on news items, as it has short term impact. It is mainly the short term traders and marketmakers who may need timely access to news for their selected stocks on which they bet money for quick profits.

Access to historical news items may be needed to backtest and study specific patterns, price changes and other effects based on news items.

How do news sites work ?

News sites usually have their own content creators, or they are authorized to source and redistribute news by partnering with other news sources. Most of the financial news providers go with a mixed approach. Here is the list of most popular news websites for stock markets. economy, finance and related business news:

· MarketWatch News Viewer. The dedicated News Viewer section on MarketWatch portal provides easy access to news items with timestamps. Its auto-streaming feature ensures instant availability of any new item getting updated automatically. Coverage includes global markets for stocks, commodities, forex and other asset classes, including fundamental analysis and reporting of macroeconomic data at country level. A dedicated tab for “RealTime Headlines” is also available for streaming data.

· Bloomberg Portal. One of the top market data providers, the news section on Bloomberg news portal offers news segregated into different categories. News can be selected from appropriate sections – asset class. region, industry and general financial. The available search feature by default shows all news items related to the particular stock queried for, and lists the news results tagged with date with all available history. For e.g. a search for “Alibaba” shows 2,213 news items. Historical information is quiet useful in correlating impacts of news items on stock performance.

· Reuters. Another top market data provider, Reuters too has vast coverage of stock specific, sector specific, market specific news on their web portal. Available content is similar to that of competitor Bloomberg. Similar search features resulting in historical news items, with added auto-complete feature for stock names are quite useful. The results page integrates existing price quotes with news items, giving a unified view to the user.

· CNBC. The homepage of CNBC contains the up to date developments across the global markets. The dedicated news section has category wise listing which includes news grouped by industry types (for US stocks) and region wise for Asia and Europe.

· The news aggregating sites: Many sites work in a pure aggregator role i.e. collect news from multiple sources and published them in their news sections.

1. Google Finance. Backed by the robust search functionality, the results page integrates lots on information including news, price quotes, charts, related competitor companies, key ratios. earnings reports and links to important information. However, the news items available may be delayed by couple of minutes to few hours and is not necessarily real-time.

2. Yahoo Finance. This has a similar news aggregator role with similar features and coverage for finance related news

3. Seeking Alpha. Another commonly followed news aggregator site.

Most of the above mentioned portals allow free access to information. Creating a personal login on these portals is optional, but comes with added functionality of email news alerts to user mailbox, for the selected stocks.

· Official exchange websites :

Exchanges too keep a dedicated section for news items for each stock. However, the available news items there are usually based on information filed by the company and hence it may be delayed (depending on the regulations). For e.g. a company announces dividend at their AGM and that info is instantly covered by various independent news portals. The info on exchange site may be updated later as company may take time to file those details to exchange. All price action. due to the dividend payment news, gets into the market even before the exchange site may officially list it. Hence, exchange sites should be verified for their real-time coverage, before deciding to trade on exchange based news.

· Top websites having dedicated finance news sections :

Each news portal has a dedicated section for Business Economy news. Examples include CNN Money. USA Today. US News. etc. Care should be taken to check on timeliness of availability.

Both free and paid access to business news is available for interested traders on online portals. However, trading on news is not for everyone – timely availability and quick action is needed to capitalize on the profit potential as markets are efficient. Along with available online sources, active traders pay close attention to other media – like live TV coverage of a company AGM for stocks they are trading on – to benefit from news based trading.

Five Best Business Card Printing Sites #loans #to #start #a #business

#cheap business cards
