You will send writing samples to your instructor. Your instructor will read each sample thoroughly, identify skills you need to learn, list the sentences with problems in each area with corrections showing how they should have been written, assign readings from the grammar textbook, answer any questions you have about the skills, have you practice the skills, and give you an online quiz containing sentences from your original writing sample that you must correct in ten minutes to be sure you have learned the skills. More . . .

The course uses the lessons from the Business Writing Skills course without the 12 practice activities. The time you would have spent on the practice activities is devoted to the grammar training.

The training materials include an online index for continued use of the reference tools after the course is finished. Course materials remain online for the duration of the course and after the course is finished.

Course Time: You will go through the course at your own pace, so you could complete it within a few weeks. However, you have up to four months to complete the course so you can fit the study time into your schedule. All lessons must be finished within the four-month period. More . . .

The instructor will evaluate the activities and examinations, comments on skills you have learned and skills you still need to polish, and coaches you through learning the skills. The courses perfectly complement each other, so when you enroll in both the Business Writing Skills course and one of the language and grammar courses at the same time, you receive a discount on tuition. More . . .

In the BWC130 Individualized Writing for Nonnative Speakers of English, your instructor will thoroughly evaluate writing samples, looking especially for the difficulties we know nonnative speakers of English have with the language. General Business Management Education and Training Program Info, business training.#Business #training

General Business Management Education and Training Program Info

Students seeking education in general business management can find both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in the field. These programs provide students a fundamental understanding of the basics of business operations.

Essential Information

Unlike many business training programs that focus on specialty concentrations like human resource management, marketing or accounting, general business management programs provide a broader overview of all aspects of business management. These undergraduate programs, offered both at the associate’s and bachelor’s level, cover all core aspects of the field including human resources, accounting, management, marketing and finance. Students in this field learn effective writing and oral presentation skills and develop leadership and interpersonal communication skills useful in culturally, ethnically and racially diverse workplaces. Both degree programs require general education studies as well. Students will need a high school diploma to apply and can expect to spend two years in an associate’s program and four years in a bachelor’s degree program.

Associate’s Degree in General Business Management

Enrollees in associate’s degree programs in general business management may achieve either an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or Associate of Business Administration. Each of these provides exposure to basic concepts and competencies that are essential to the successful operation of nearly all businesses. Students learn to present business ideas orally and in writing, solve business problems, conduct business research and comprehend business finance. Most associate’s degree programs have a liberal arts component as part of the general education requirement. Business-related courses focus on areas such as:

  • Accounting fundamentals
  • Business math
  • Marketing fundamentals
  • Business operations fundamentals
  • Business communications

Find schools that offer these popular programs

  • Actuarial Sciences
  • Business and Commerce, General
  • Business Statistics
  • Customer Service Management
  • eCommerce
  • Logistics, Distribution, and Materials Management
  • Management Science
  • Office Management
  • Operations Management
  • Public and Nonprofit Organizational Management
  • Purchases, Acquisitions, and Contracts Management
  • Transportation Management

Bachelor’s Degree in General Business Management

Bachelor’s degree programs in general business management cover a wide set of principles and practices with the aim of preparing graduates to launch a new corporate venture or provide administrative support to an existing company or non-profit organization. Coursework explores the interdependence of such core business functions as marketing, management, finance and accounting. It also examines how businesses adapt to economic cycles and government policy. Students develop teamwork skills and learn how to write a business plan. A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) are most common for this field at this level. Baccalaureate programs pair general education courses in the arts, humanities and natural sciences with a core business sequence. General business management classes may cover:

  • Business information systems
  • Business finance
  • Business law
  • Organizational behavior
  • Operations management
  • Human resource management

Popular Career Options

General business management undergraduate programs qualify graduates for a range of entry-level, business-related positions. Job possibilities might include:

  • Office manager
  • Marketing assistant
  • Customer service manager
  • Human resources assistant

Employment Outlook and Salary Info

A bachelor’s degree in business management qualifies graduates for a range of supervisory and administrative services manager positions in medium and large organizations, whether private business, corporate or non-profit. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of administrative services managers is projected to increase 8% over the years 2014-2024. Demand for facility managers and contract managers will also be strong, reports the BLS. As of May 2015, administrative services managers, including business managers, earned median annual salaries of $86,110 (www.bls.gov).

Continuing Education Information

Those with an associate’s degree can improve their employment or career advancement prospects by earning a bachelor’s degree. Many schools offer bachelor’s degree programs in general business and may accept associate’s degree transfer credits upon matriculation. Individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree and go on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) are likely to have the strongest employment and career prospects. Schools in all U.S. states offer MBA programs in both on-campus and distance-learning formats.

Degree programs in general business management include a broad curriculum that teaches students a variety of useful skills and familiarizes them with key business concepts and strategies. Students can choose either associate’s or bachelor’s level programs to help them prepare for entry-level management positions.

Window Cleaning Coach: How to Start a Window Washing Business, Tips, Advice,

#window cleaning business

#

Hi, my name is Dave and I run my own successful window cleaning business called ShineTime in Birmingham, England.

The reason I’ve created this website is because I found that there was a lack of free information on setting up your own window cleaning business when I first started.

Instead I found there are a lot of opportunist window cleaners on the internet who are selling their knowledge (you can’t blame them really can you).

I realise when you’re setting up your own business funds are tight, so I’ve decided to give my expertise away for free.

The reason for this generosity you might ask? Well window cleaning helped me out of a tight spot: I was working in a dead-end factory for minimum wage and wasn’t too happy about the situation.

I finally decided to start my own window cleaning business, and after a lot of trial and error my business became successful. I want to help other people thinking of starting their own window cleaning company avoid some of the mistakes I made when I first started by doing this informative website.

Let’s get one thing straight, being a window cleaner is a horrible job: in Winter you feel like your hands are going to drop off, if you’re working by yourself it can become very lonely, and sometimes your customers can give you hassle. As you’re the head of the company you’re the one who has to deal with troublesome customers because there’s nobody to pass the blame onto.

It’s not easy either, most people seem to think it’s just a case of buying a bucket, getting a chammy and you’re away. Sadly there’s a lot of competition out there, it’s highly likely you’ll find all the best areas where you live (the posh ones that make you the most money) are taken.

You have to be prepared to work hard to build up your round and be able to discipline yourself because there’s no boss to kick you up the arse when you feel like having an impromptu day off. It’s very easy to slip into the habit of thinking: I can’t be bothered with it today. or I think I’ll knock off early .

It’s good to have the freedom that only comes with being your own boss, but it still doesn’t mean you can spend every other day in bed. Disappointing I know, but that’s life.

I want to make it clear that not everybody is suited to self-employment, some people need a person watching over them to make them work. If this is a description of you then you probably shouldn’t bother wasting anymore of your time on this site. Instead, you may want to consider looking for other cleaning jobs first to get some experience and see if a window cleaning career is really for you.

Despite all the drawbacks however, I believe if you’re desperate, i.e. stuck in a job you absolutely hate, or unemployed and on the dole, then window cleaning could be for you because it’s a realistic way of making a respectable living for a person who has no other options, just don’t expect to be driving around in a Bentley anytime soon.

Business Training Works, ® Inc.

Welcome to Business Training Works, the onsite training provider.

Whether you need customer service, train-the-trainer training, a multi-session program for emerging leaders, or something else related to soft skills, we can help.

For more than a decade we’ve worked with Fortune 500, government, education, religious, and medium and small business clients to achieve their employee development goals.

The core of our work is instructor-led training delivered at our clients’ locations. For many topics, we also offer interactive webinar training available anywhere with a high-speed internet connection.

If you’re seeking a blended learning approach or self-paced instruction, we’ve created a handful of online courses and partnered with a respected publisher to provide a library of online titles.

ONSITE TRAINING

Our tailored workshops cover traditional topics such as business etiquette, communication skills, cross-cultural communication, customer service, diversity, human resources, management, supervision, leadership, negotiation, presentation skills, time management, sales, training-the-trainer, and writing.

We also offer more narrowly focused courses in areas such as chat etiquette, military writing, GPO Style Manual usage, and customer service for healthcare.

We are not a commodity course provider, and we recognize that no two clients are alike. We will address your learning and development goals on a schedule that works for you.

We can provide you with full-year training programs, individual sessions, conference breakouts, lunch programs, or keynote sessions.

The workshop overviews found on this site suggest course length, learning objectives, and program flow. For most of our clients, these descriptions are a starting point. However, upon request, we can teach the programs exactly as described.

If you don’t see what you are looking for, please call us. We frequently develop new offerings at the request of our clients.

INTERACTIVE WEBINARS

Some webinars are good, and some are not. If the idea of distance learning causes you to yawn, it’s unlikely you’ve participated in one of our webinar programs. Our distance-learning instructors know how to maximize their allotted time, engage participants, and meet training objectives.

ONLINE TRAINING

If you require training for an individual or need to train people working in different locations, our online training programs could be the answer. Just the same, it’s wonderful,” Saxon mused, gazing at the big, half-ruined adobe structure.

Hidden from the sea by low hillocks, forsaken by human being and human habitation, the church of sun-baked clay and straw and chalk-rock stood hushed and breathless in the midst of the adobe ruins which once had housed its worshiping thousands.

SANS Cyber Security Training

SANS cyber security training is an essential element in the development of individuals and teams that are prepared to protect governmental, military, and commercial institutions from cyberattacks.

The SANS Institute is the most trusted, and by far the largest, provider of training, certification, and research to cyber security professionals globally.

  • In 2015, SANS trained over 30,000 people, including professionals from 91% of the Fortune 100, nearly every US government agency involved in our country’s defense against cyberattack, and their counterparts at our most trusted allies in Europe and Asia.
  • Fewer than 75 people are currently qualified to be SANS-Certified Instructors globally. This extraordinary cadre of individuals have been selected through a rigorous process that tests both their expertise in the field *and* their ability to teach effectively. As a group, they author our courses, design our curriculum, and deliver the training in classrooms and online.
  • The 300 employees of the SANS Institute work diligently to enable these instructors to deliver these courses at venues around the world and online, constantly measuring the quality of students’ experience and learning.

The SANS Promise is that students will be able to use what they learn in class the moment they return to their office.

SANS Cyber Security Courses

Advance your career and explore our cyber security training courses and cyber security training events near you, including our site focused on SANS cyber security training in the UK and Europe. Our curricula span from the core essential technical skills and strategies that every cyber security professional should know, to advanced topics in penetration testing and ethical hacking, digital forensics and incident response, defense of critical infrastructure, application development, and audit, and legal topics.

GIAC Cyber Security certifications

GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) was founded in 1999 to validate the skills of cyber security professionals. The purpose of GIAC is to provide assurance that a certified individual has the knowledge and skills necessary for a practitioner in key areas of computer, information and software security. GIAC certifications are trusted by thousands of companies and government agencies, and are unique because they measure specific skills and knowledge areas rather than general infosec knowledge. Learn more about GIAC’s cyber security certifications at www.giac.org .

Cyber Security degrees and education

Cyber security masters degrees and graduate certificates in cyber security are available from the SANS Technology Institute. The SANS Technology Institute Master of Science degree programs offer candidates an unparalleled opportunity to excel in the two aspects of cybersecurity that are most important to the success of their employer and their own careers: technical mastery, and managerial competency. In addition to the cyber security master’s degree program, the SANS Technology Institute makes shorter groups of courses available to students who are unable to commit to a full master’s degree program. These cyber security graduate certificates will augment your skills, provide specialized training, enable you to earn employer-recognized GIAC certifications, and impart a specialized credential from the SANS Technology Institute that will help advance your career. Participants enrolled in these graduate certificate programs likely qualify for tuition reimbursement if their employer offers that benefit, and these programs are eligible for veterans benefits.

Cyber Security Awareness

Cyber security awareness training is essential to reduce the risk that your employees can be tricked by sophisticated phishing or social engineering methods into serving unknowingly as entry points into your information and data systems. SANS Securing the Human award-winning programs provide an extensive set of security awareness services to help keep your workplace and information secure. How To Become An Ultrasound Technician

Education Training Requirements

Those who are interested in becoming an ultrasound technician should get an associates or bachelor’s degree in the field. A 1-year certificate program is also available to those already working in healthcare jobs such as nursing.

Both an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree will give students the practice and experience they need to prepare for the certification exam and use diagnostic medical sonography in real-life applications. An associate’s degree in this field is generally sufficient for those who want to practice ultrasound technology while those who are looking to start in this field and work into management positions will want to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Associate’s Degree Sample Courses

  • Principles of Ultrasound
  • Concepts of Ultrasound
  • Abdominal sonography
  • Pathophysiology
  • Physics
  • Concepts and equipment used in ultrasound field
  • Vascular sonography
  • Sectional anatomy

Bachelor’s Degree Sample Courses

  • Courses offered in associate’s degree and:
  • Physics relating to ultrasound
  • Imaging diagnostics
  • Health science management
  • Specialty sonography

Schools Programs

There are several schools for ultrasound technicians. The majority of them are based out of a community college or university; however, there are also numerous online ultrasound technician school, and a few of them are listed below.

Online Ultrasound Technician Schools

  • Devry
  • Herzing
  • Keiser University
  • Virginia College

Certification Licensing

Some states only allow licensed ultrasound technicians to practice. Typically, certification is required in order to qualify for licensure, though these requirements will vary from state to state. While certification and licensing is not required in every state, most employers in the field will only hire sonographers who have obtained professional certification. Certification can be obtained through ARDMS.

The ARDMS has a base exam, which consists of 110 multiple-choice and situational-based questions. Test takers will be allowed two hours to complete it. In addition to this test, students will also need to choose a specialty in the radiology field, which can include abdomen, breast, fetal echocardiography, obstetrics and gynecology. The specialty exams will include 170 multiple-choice questions, and individuals will be allotted three hours to complete the test. The test costs and additional $250.

Job Outlook

The job outlook for ultrasound technicians is excellent, with a projected job growth of 44% over the next decade. Because ultrasound is a relatively safe imaging technology, it will be used as a substitute for more invasive/dangerous procedures as the technology advances.

Job growth is also expected in private physician’s offices and medical/diagnostic laboratories, as the relatively low costs of ultrasound imaging technology allows more procedures to be performed outside of hospitals. As the baby-boomer population continues to advance in age over the next decade, more ultrasound technicians will be required in the field.

No Gym Required: How to Get Fit at Home

“>From the WebMD Archives

You want to get fit. But you don’t want to join a health club — it’s too expensive, there’s no gym convenient to you, or maybe you’re just the independent type. Or perhaps you’re already a gym member, but your schedule has been too manic for you to get away.

That leaves working out at home. But can you really get a great workout without leaving the house?

Absolutely, says Kevin Steele, PhD, exercise physiologist and vice president of 24 Hour Fitness Centers.

“In today’s world, the reality of it is people don’t have time to go to a facility every day anyway,” he says. “And consistency is key.”

Believe it or not, Steele says, at 24 Hour Fitness, they encourage folks to exercise at home as much as at the gym. This way, they are more apt to adopt fitness as a lifestyle. “The key thing is that you do something, somewhere, sometime,” he says.

Steele and other fitness experts say it doesn’t take much effort or money to design an effective workout program at home. Things like fit balls, dumbbells, exercise bands or tubing, and push-up bars are an inexpensive way to create a routine that works all the major muscle groups.

But even with no props or machines, you can build muscles and burn calories.

“If someone wants to get started, they could take a brisk walk, then do abdominal exercises and push-ups,” says Richard Weil, MEd, CDE an exercise physiologist and WebMD Weight Loss clinic consultant.

The 5 Elements of Fitness

According to Steele, an effective fitness program has five components, all of which you can do at home:

  • A warmup.
  • A cardiovascular (aerobic) workout.
  • Resistance (strength-building) exercises.
  • Flexibility moves.
  • A cooldown

A warm-up could be an easy walk outside or on a treadmill, or a slow pace on a stationary bike. For the cardiovascular portion, walk or pedal faster, do step aerobics with a video, or jump rope — whatever you enjoy that gets your heart rate up.

The resistance portion can be as simple as squats, push-ups and abdominal crunches. Or you could work with small dumbbells, a weight bar, bands or tubing.

Continued

Increase your flexibility with floor stretches or yoga poses. And your cooldown should be similar to the warm up, says Steele — “cardiovascular work at a low level to bring the heart rate down to a resting state.”

You can do strength work in same workout as your aerobic work, or split them up. Just be sure to warm up and cool down every time you exercise.

If you’re short on time one day, increase the intensity of your workout, says Tony Swain, MS, fitness director of East Bank Club in Chicago. Instead of your usual 45-minute ride on the stationary bike, choose a harder program for 25 minutes and really push yourself. Choose the hilly walk in your neighborhood, or jog instead of walking.

You can step up the pace of your strength workout by doing compound exercises — those that work more than one muscle group at a time.

For example, doing squats (with or without weights) works the quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteus, and calves. Push-ups involve the pectorals, deltoids, biceps. triceps — even the abdominals and the upper back.

If you’re not the create-your-own workout type, there are fitness videos galore — offering everything from kickboxing to belly dancing to Pilates. You can find them at local bookstores and discount stores, or on the Web. Just be sure to choose one that’s appropriate for your fitness level.

Getting Started

If you’re a beginner, aim for 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise at least three times a week, and 20 to 30 minutes of strength work three times a week. Be sure your strength workout covers all major muscle groups, in your upper body, lower body, abdominals and back. Shoot for three sets of 10-15 repetitions of each strength exercise.

No matter what type of exercise you do, be sure to start slowly and gradually increase your workout time and intensity. And don’t forget to listen to your body, says Weil.

“Focus on the muscles that you think you should be working,” he says. “See if you feel it there. If you’re working your abs and you feel it in your neck, then it’s not right. Close your eyes and start to tune in to your body.”

Continued

It’s also important to stay tuned in to what motivates you.

Working out at home has obvious advantages. But there are obstacles, too: distractions from the phone, the kids, the dog, the Internet and the refrigerator can derail a workout. And that’s if you can get started in the first place. When you’re at home, it’s easy to find something else that needs to be done.

A good way to stay motivated and avoid distractions, the experts say, is to exercise early in the day. Morning exercisers are more likely to stick with their workouts, according to American Council on Exercise spokesperson Kelli Calabrese, MS, ACE, CSCS.

“Get (the workout) over with first thing in the morning, then get on with your day,” says Weil.

Tips for home exercisers

The experts offer some other tips for home exercisers:

  • Challenge yourself and avoid boredom. At home, you won’t have the variety of equipment and classes that are available at a gym. So surf the Internet and browse fitness magazines to check out new workouts and make sure you’re exercising correctly. “Pictures are everything. Use them as a guide for form and technique,” Swain says.
  • Find an exercise partner. You’ll be less likely to find excuses when you’ve arranged to work out with a friend.
  • Schedule your workouts. “Have a plan,” says Calabrese. “Look at a planner and write out your exercise appointments one month in advance. If something comes up and you have to change one, reschedule it immediately.”
  • Use a journal to track your progress and jot down any breakthroughs you may have. When you have a bad day, write that down, too, to help you to find patterns you can break. For example, you may find an egg-white omelet gets you through your morning workout better than a bagel.
  • Set goals. like training for a race or losing 20 pounds. “A goals should be something you can’t do right now, but you know is within your reach,” Calabrese says. Give yourself mini-rewards along the way: a new fitness magazine, those workout tights you’ve been eyeing, or a new pair of sneakers.
  • Perhaps most important, make exercise as integral to your life as sleeping and eating, says Swain. “You have to think of it as a lifestyle change. It doesn’t end. Get out of the mind frame that exercise is something you’re only going to do for a period of time.”

Computer Systems Analyst

Computer systems analysts are the “big picture” thinkers in IT. Armed with an understanding of both business and technology, these professionals analyze an organization’s current computer systems procedures, and recommend strategic changes to increase productivity, reduce costs and accomplish other business goals. Many systems analysts are skilled developers who design and code computer systems updates personally or lead the development team in a hands-on capacity, while other analysts without a programming background will liaise with software developers to implement changes.

The systems analyst’s prime directive is to maximize the return on investment (ROI) of an organization’s IT spend. Mission-critical activities include monitoring computer system performance, finding and procuring new technologies based on cost-benefit analyses, designing and developing new computer systems, and working closely with users to optimize performance and troubleshoot problems post-implementation.

With a projected growth rate of 21% from 2014 to 2024, computer systems analysts have earned their spot among the nation’s fastest growing IT occupations. Universities and private computer schools offer a range of systems analyst training and degree programs. Compare the top-rated systems analyst training programs online and in your area below.

  • Recommend initiatives to increase the ROI of an organization’s information technology expenditures.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses for potential computer system upgrades to support purchase decisions.
  • Create systems models, diagrams and charts to provide direction to system developers engineers.
  • Provide orientation and training sessions to end-users for new and modified computer systems.
  • Assist in the deployment, customization and post-implementation troubleshooting of new systems.
  • Rather than deep expertise about every piece of technology, systems analysts need a top-level understanding of how IT processes and components (such as hardware, software networks) interact to further business objectives.

Computer Systems Analyst Education Requirements

Most employers require systems analyst applicants to have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer systems analysis, computer science, computer information systems (CIS), management information systems (MIS), business intelligence or a similar field of study. As this field deals with both business and IT, some systems analysis positions require a Master of Business Administration (MBA), preferably with a technical focus, such as information systems or technology management. Whichever your learning path, systems analysts should expect to take classes throughout their careers to stay competitive and keep up with emerging and innovative technologies.

Marketable skills to look for in a system analysis education program include business intelligence analysis, technology management, software development, business information systems administration, data processing, project management, business systems integration, risk management and soft skills. Systems analysts should also learn the business-side of their chosen field. For example, a bank may prefer a systems analyst with a background or coursework in finance, while a hospital might fast-track candidates with health care knowledge. Keep this in mind when planning your degree program curriculum and electives. The subject matter in computer systems analyst training works well with online learning platforms.

Nursing assistant programs prepare individuals for challenging the nurse aide certification exam and for entry level positions in health care environments. Each state has the authority to decide how many hours of training a nursing assistant course must consist of, as long as the minimum federal requirement of seventy-five hours is met. Students interested in attending CNA classes have a wide array of choices when it comes to selecting a training facility.

Nursing assistant courses are conducted at nursing homes, vocational schools, private schools, and community colleges. Program length, admission requirements, and cost of training vary depending on the policies of every training facility. Several states have implemented legislation which requires licensed long-term care facilities to reimburse CNA employees for the costs associated with training. An individual who has paid for nursing assistant training classes and who becomes employed by a nursing home within a year of obtaining certification, is eligible for financial reimbursement. Compared to other training programs in the health care field, nursing assistant classes are relatively short and inexpensive. Obtaining state certification as a CNA is the main requirement for securing a nurse aide job at a nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.

Is it possible to enroll in a CNA class without a high school diploma or GED?

Admin on November 8, 2014 at 05:34 PM
There are no federal regulations stating that individuals are required to have a high school diploma prior to attending nurse aide classes but some states such as Florida require a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to testing if you are under 18 years old and have not attended a training program. A program coordinator at the school or nursing facility which is offering CNA training classes may tell you if a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required in order to enroll in the nurse aide program. Some facilities do not require a diploma as long as you have completed a 10th grade high school education. In the state of Texas a high school diploma or a GED is not necessary in order to attend and complete a nursing assistant program.

CNA Resources

CNA Training Requirements

There is a wide disparity between CNA training requirements among the states. The difference lies in the mandatory number of total training hours necessary to complete state-approved CNA classes .

While according to federal law each nursing assistant course should contain a minimum of seventy-five (75) instruction and clinical hours, individual states have the liberty to mandate extra training requirements for certified nursing assistants. The majority of states exceed the threshold federal minimum requirements for nurse aide training programs because they are considered insufficient to result in an optimal and safe level of care for clients.

A review of nationwide state requirements for nurse assistant courses has found that the following states have mandated highest number of CNA program hours: Maine with a minimum of 90 hours of theory, 20 hours of laboratory skills and 70 hours of clinical instruction for a total of 180 hours; California with one hundred and sixty (160) training hours; Delaware and Oregon each requiring one hundred and fifty (150) hours; followed by the state of Alaska with one hundred and forty (140) hours; Virginia, Arizona, and West Virginia have a minimum of one hundred and twenty (120) training hours for state-approved classes.

Two Day Per Week Strength Training Program

Day strength training workoutI know what you re probably thinking: how can I get great results from only working out two days per week?

The simple answer: as long as you follow a good program (as provided in this article), work hard, and improve your performance consistently, you can get great results.

In fact, you may be surprised by how much you can achieve from strength training two days per week. After all, quality is more important than quantity.

But before we get to the two day per week strength training routine, let s discuss . . .

Who Can Benefit from Strength Training Twice Per Week?

Anyone who s busy. For those who are truly limited on time, two days per week is usually a great solution. You don t spend much time going to, or in, the gym and you can still achieve great results. (See also The Busy Woman s Guide to Strength Training.)

The trainee who is getting burned out from strength training. I go through periods when I don t love strength training. When this happens, I know I need to scale back the frequency of my workouts, immediately. If you re not enjoying strength training but keep forcing yourself, week after week, and month after month, to keep training at a high frequency, you risk burning yourself out.

I know, because it s happened to me. All of a sudden I didn t enjoy strength training; all because I never scaled back when I should have.

So if you re not as enthusiastic about your workouts right now, try the two day per week program. Chances are you ll start enjoying, and looking forward to, your workouts once again.

The person who s active in other physical activities can benefit from strength training just two days per week. For people who participate in sports, running, or other physical activities, a two day per week routine can still allow them to get stronger without overdoing things. If you participate in other activities, you could give the two day per week program a try it just may provide better results and improve your performance in your other activities.

When you re under a lot of stress. If you re in the middle of a huge project at work, studying for mid-terms, or there s other real life stuff weighing you down, scale back your workouts. When you re enduring a period of high stress, adding more frequent stress in the way of strength training workouts isn t always a good idea.

But instead of abandoning a fitness regimen all together, you would do well to scale your training back to two days per week.

Two Day Per Week Strength Training Program

First things first. If you re going to train twice per week, you absolutely must focus on the exercises that will produce the greatest results from your efforts. That means big, compound exercises. For this program, that means a heavy dose of barbell and dumbbell exercises. You can throw in a few accessory exercises to round things out, but spend your time on the basics.

I recommend having at least two days off between workouts, if possible. For example, perform Workout 1 on Monday and Workout 2 on Thursday. This way you have plenty of time to recover between workouts and you ll still have a good frequency of training.

Let s take a look at the workouts and then we ll discuss the details.

Workout 1

  • 1) Squat 3 8-10 (3 sets, 8-10 reps)
  • 2a) Low incline barbell bench press 3 8-10
  • 2b) One arm dumbbell row 3 8-10
  • 3) Back extension 3 10-15

Workout 2

  • 1) Deadlift 3 5-7
  • 2a) Standing barbell press 3 8-10
  • 2b) Neutral grip chin-up 3 8-10
  • 3) Walking lunges with dumbbells 3 10-15 each leg

As you can see, each exercise has a set and rep range. A terrific way to begin the program would be to start at the low end of the provided rep range and stick with the same weight until you can perform the high end of the rep range. For example, Workout 1 calls for three sets of 8-10s reps (3 8-10) for the first three exercises. Use a challenging weight and start by performing 3 8.

Over the course of the next week or two, work up to performing 3 10 with the same weight. Once you reach the high end of the rep range, increase the weight a bit and start the process over again. This is a great way to keep making progress for months.

But what if you stall out and can no longer add weight or perform more reps?

No problem! To keep making progress you can:

  • Use a different rep range to change things up. Instead of 3 8-10 you can try 4 6.
  • Use different exercise variationsand simply repeat the program.

Here s the same two day per week program but with different exercise variations:

Workout 1

  • 1) Goblet squat 3 8-10 (3 sets, 8-10 reps)
  • 2a) Push-up 3 8-10
  • 2b) Inverted row 3 8-10
  • 3) Single leg RDL 3 10-15

Workout 2

  • 1) Sumo deadlift 3 5-7
  • 2a) One arm dumbbell push press 3 8-10
  • 2b) Suspension trainer chin-up 3 8-10
  • 3) Rear foot elevated split squat 3 10-15 each leg

Since you d be using different exercise variations, you would simply repeat the program again. Remember to start at the low end of the provided rep range and stick with the same weight until you can perform all sets at the high end of the rep range. Then increase the weight a bit and start over.

“TOP’s” Guide to Increasing your College Promotion Points

Civilian Education: Worth up to 100 Promotion Points (Read Below to find out how you may already have over 50 points Now) The purpose is to help Soldiers become better Educated and earn quicker Army Promotions by assisting in not only their Army Educations but also their College Educations as well.

By Far the Fastest and Easiest of the areas to add and increase points is through Civilian Education through College by either Online College Classes, Military Evaluations or Clep Exams. There are several methods to accomplish this. While some people already have some college and can just add their Transcripts.

You should no matter what enroll in Online College Classes or take traditional College Courses at the Education Center. Personally I would recommend the Online Classes as they allow you to study and perform your work at your own pace and you are not locked down to specific hours of being in a particular class. Either way with the Army’s TA it will usually not cost you a dime except for books and there are Many Colleges out there that are Online that will even throw the books in for free if you are using TA. So take advantage of your Benefit and Enroll ASAP. The Online Classes are a lot easier than you would think. With the one’s that I have taken, All of the Tests that I took were All Open Book. It can’t get much Easier than that.

You can also take CLEP exams at the education center which will only take a couple hours of your day. Spending a couple hours to get 3 promotion points is a lot easier than spending 40 hours in a week long Military course trust me. But ensure that you study, some of these test can be difficult.

But the ABSOLUTE easiest and best hands down is to have your Military Training Evaluated by a Civilian College for College Credits. This for me was the best bang for the buck and for my time by far. All you will need is a copy of your AARTS Transcript and a College that transfers your Military Training to Civilian Credits. Some Colleges will generally only charge a small enrollment fee and transcript fee and you could have a Transcript in as little as a couple of weeks. This fee is the Best investment that you will ever make and you will make this back the first month of your promotion. There is not a stock on the Market or a Mutual Fund out there that could give you a Rate of Return like this will.

The College that I chose was North Central Institute and only took a couple of weeks after I sent them my AARTS Transcript and I was then sent an Official Transcript with 57 College Credits that I was able to add for Promotion. I did not have to wait until I completed four classes with them or anything. I just sent in the AARTS Transcript and the money and they sent the Official Transcript and everything was completed in a couple of weeks. This is hands down the best way for any Soldier to add promotion points to their PPW to get promoted. My Military Training evaluation cost me a total of $250.00 and only took two weeks to get the Official College Transcript in my hands. There isn’t a Stock or a Mutual Fund that will Pay you like you will make on your investment of that small of an amount. It is like taking out an Insurance Policy to ensure that you get Paid and to ensure that you get promoted. So YOU should be the one that spends the $250.00 to take out that Insurance Policy and Making that Investment in your Future not the Other Guy.

The College of Human Environmental Sciences is a senior academic unit in the State of Alabama offering professional programs in the field of human environmental sciences. Throughout its history, the college has achieved national reputation for excellence through the quality of its academic programs and faculty, as well as through the success of its graduates.

The College of Human Environmental Sciences is actively engaged in the transmission, generation, and dissemination of knowledge as conveyed in three main objectives: (1) to provide students with the intellectual curiosity and professional competence needed for careers in business, industry, government agencies, health care, and education; (2) to provide for the general education and intellectual growth of students in other divisions; and (3) to contribute to the body of knowledge that is the foundation for continued enrichment of the educational experience.

The College of Human Environmental Sciences is a student-centered research division with a diverse faculty who are involved in teaching, research, and service. Below we would like to feature some of our faculty who are heavily involved in a variety of research.

After a contest that spanned two months, the University of Alabama’s search for an official tartan is over. The university’s College of Human Environmental Sciences held the competition and selected the designs of three finalists. The winner was decided in an online vote. Linnzi Rich, a junior majoring in interior design, was announced the winner Friday during the college’s homecoming convention. Her “We are Crimson” design is made up predominantly of crimson and white with accents of black and gray… “In the early 1900s, tartan designs were primarily used in Scotland, and they were used to easily identify families and clans on the battlefield and in celebrations,” said Milla Boschung, Dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences. “They were also used for identifying geographical regions.”

At the College of Human Environmental Sciences, our students are first and foremost. We are committed to the success of all of our students.

The College offers ten undergraduate majors that help students reach their professional goals. The CHES Office of Student Services, located in 101 Doster Hall, is committed to helping students have a successful and rewarding college experience. Please let us know how we can help.

Advising is an important part of your progress toward a degree. Please carefully review all of the advising information on your department’s website before making an appointment with your advisor; only then will you be prepared for advising.

For your advising appointment, do NOT miss or be late. Prepare a schedule using Schedule Builder located in myBama. Check sheets for each major are available in 101 Doster Hall or you may download them here .

If you would like to change your major, you may do so via myBama under the Student tab. Registration times are made on the basis of earned hours only. This does not include course work in which you are currently enrolled. Visit registration time assignments for more information.

Welcome to the Homeland Security Defense Coalition and our Homeland Security University College project

The Homeland Security Defense Coalition and the Homeland Security University College project was established in October of 2001 to provide a single source for high level education and training in the field of counter-terrorism. The HSDC HSU project programs will lead to a certificate, diploma, or degree in one comprehensive program.

The Homeland Security Defense Coalition and the Homeland Security University College project has been a labor of love post 9/11/01. The Homeland Security Defense Coalition is a non-profit organization managed by 40 volunteers who have sought non-governmental funding through no less than two dozen foundations, none of which have been able to provide project funding. Our volunteers have provided nine years of their time in hopes of eventually joining us on a full-time career basis. This great team has provided their professional expertise in counterterrorism and business administration to build our infrastructure so that we are ready at the starting gates to begin this worthwhile Homeland Security University College project.

We have recruited and brought together national and international experts in anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism, who have developed, designed and will be teaching our seminars and courses. Most are recently retired former or present FBI agents, federal law enforcement agents, criminal investigators, emergency and disaster planning professionals, lawyers, US Border Patrol personnel, US Customs professionals and several currently in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Consolidating the best national security training and education courses and offering them through one source will enable private and government agencies the opportunity to send their personnel for homeland specialized homeland security training and education.

This project has been 14 years in the planning and is designed to ensure the highest level of modern up-to-date course content. Courses have and will be continually reviewed and up-dated to remain current in content and consistent with current trends and threats.

Unlike similar programs that are appearing across the country, our seminar, certificate, diploma and degree courses and training programs are designed specifically to address the needs of those employed or seeking employment in a homeland security related profession, public safety or public administration with a concentration in homeland security.

The Homeland Security Defense Coalition is proud to announce our professional development and continuing education courses will be offered online over the next six to eight weeks. Courses will include;

Introduction to Homeland Security

Introduction to Terrorism

The Psychology of Terrorism

Public Utility Security Against Terrorism (Gas, Electric, Water, Telephone, Cellular Phones, Sewer)

Online Claim System Fastest Way to File

What’s the fastest way to file your Oregon Unemployment Claim? Filing online is undoubtedly the fastest method for most people, especially if all your work was performed in Oregon.

Oregon’s Online Claim System is easy, fast, and secure. The system leads you through each question, step by step, and it even advises you if you have made a mistake. Most of the questions have YES or NO answers, plus easily understood HELP information is available with the click of your mouse.

The system files new claims and a lot more; it processes weekly claims, restarts claims after a reporting break, provides a view of your claim status, and allows you to sign up for electronic deposit.

Filing a new claim online takes about 30 minutes. Submitting an Internet weekly claim takes significantly less time than using the telephone and it virtually eliminates late and incomplete reports (and delays in payments caused by them).

Plus, your sensitive information is encrypted, and normal firewall protection prevents your information from being stolen.

An online claim means no more waiting for an open telephone line due to busy signals during the busy part of the week. You can access our Internet Weekly Claims anytime – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Here is a link to the system at www.workinginoregon.org/ocs .

It is helpful to have the following information ready when filing a new claim:

  • Your Social Security Number.
  • Your work history for the last 18 months, including dates of employment, your employers’ business names, addresses and phone numbers.
  • If you worked for a Federal (non-military) employer, you may find this information on an SF-8 or SF-50.
  • Your salary and total income from each employer.
  • If you are not a citizen of the United States, you will need your Alien Registration Number and documentation.
  • Phone number where you can be reached during normal business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time).

For people who do not have Internet access, several resources are still available. WorkSource Centers throughout Oregon offer dedicated computers for filing online and many public libraries have free public access to the Internet.

Some types of claims are too complex for the Online Claim System to handle. Here is a list of situations where you will need to call one of our Unemployment Insurance Centers in order to file:

  1. You performed 90 days or more of active duty service for a branch of the military in the last 18 months, other than training with a National Guard or reserve unit.
  2. You filed an unemployment claim against another state within the last twelve months.
  3. You have not worked in Oregon in the past 18 months.
  4. You worked as a merchant seaman in the last 18 months.
  5. You are currently outside of the United States.

Oregon historically experiences its highest level of unemployment during the winter months. When this occurs, call volume to the Employment Department’s Unemployment Insurance Center can double, resulting in longer-than-normal wait times.

For individuals without access to the Internet or with complex claims, calling the Unemployment Insurance Center during non-peak hours can help. The Unemployment Insurance Center receives its highest call volume on Mondays and Tuesdays. It is recommended individuals call in on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. The phone number for the Unemployment Insurance Centers are: (877) FILE-4-UI (1-877-345-3484).

The Oregon Employment Department works to support Oregonians during times of unemployment. Job seekers can find a full range of employment services at the department’s WorkSource Centers throughout the state. For more information, visit the department’s Web site at www.WorkingInOregon.org. Also located on the Web site is in-depth information about unemployment insurance, including a frequently asked questions section.

Online International Business Degree Programs

After establishing a predominant market for its products domestically, many companies seek expansion overseas, hoping to win over customers and clients abroad. However, as the rules can change as you cross borders, what were the keys to success at home might lead to a downfall in overseas markets. Customs and market regulations vary from country to country, and marketing techniques vary widely in their ability to reach the target customer. Pricing and distribution strategies must also be adapted to realities in countries as disparate as Cambodia and Norway–if a company ever hopes to replicate the success it enjoys at home. As the world economy becomes increasingly integrated, the international business person is more important than ever.

What an International Business Degree Can Do for You

A degree in international business can help managers surmount the barriers that have traditionally prevented companies from thriving in markets outside their home turf. Programs are designed to give you the type of career training needed not only to succeed in the international business setting, but also to gain the cultural understanding that plays an integral role in this type of business environment.

International business continues to grow as businesses seek ways to expand overseas and gain a share of the global market. A myriad of factors can affect a company’s development in the international market and a graduate of an international business program should learn how to navigate foreign business markets, as well as foreign cultural, social, and political environments. With new technological advances in telecommunications, the business world continues to get smaller. Career training in international business can provide you with a greater understanding of how globalization affects both economics and business practices worldwide.

International Business Degree Programs

Traditional business disciplines include course in accounting, finance, marketing, sales, economics, strategy, and organizational behavior. Additionally, international business programs typically include coursework in international law, international trade and customs, strategic alliances and joint ventures with foreign firms. Specific subjects may vary from program to program–some may offer the opportunity to study a foreign language while others allow students to specialize in a specific country.

Sample subjects may include business operations, imports and exports, and trade controls. In addition, international business students may also take courses in the following:

  • Trade controls
  • Tariffs
  • Tax
  • Monetary issues
  • Foreign exchange
  • Customs
  • International financial transaction

As the demand for individuals with global expertise increases, career training in international business can pave the way to a rewarding and exciting career. Online universities and colleges offer flexible schedules to allow students to fit the coursework into their daily lives–not the other way around.

From learning second languages to understanding different cultures, staying ahead of international market developments and practices, the international business degree can prepare students to look beyond borders and conduct business on a global scale.

CHIKITSA. Diagnostic & Ultrasound Training Centre is the largest dedicated Centre for ultrasound teaching in Mumbai and one of the largest in India.

It is a leading center for training Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Radiologists in the art of sonography. Over 1800 post-graduate doctors have trained with us in the past 6 years.

The Centre excels in its training in the field of Obstetrics-Gynecology ultrasound.

The ultrasound teaching and orientation methodology comprises of adequate hands-on ultrasound experience coupled with excellent didactic lectures.

We stress the academic content in the lectures and we urge our students to excel.

We also give post-program support to our students.

Our teachers are well-trained Radiologists and we bring with us an experience of over 20 years in the field of Sonography and Radiology.

Ultrasound is a modality being used by radiologists as well as non-radiologists.

In spite of their training in and exposure to ultrasonography, Radiologists are, more often than not, inadequately exposed to structured teaching in ultrasound.

In order to impart specialized knowledge of ultrasound to radiologists, we offer specialized educative programs covering the more obscure areas such as peripheral color Doppler, obstetric color-doppler, first trimester ultrasound including nuchal translucency, nasal bone etc. first trimester anomalies scan, fetal echocardiography, second trimester anomalies scan, male infertility sonography, TRUS, small parts (such as testes and scrotum, breast, thyroid,) bowel, abdominal wall and hernias. 4D ultrasound with stress on gynecology, etc.

Musculo-skeletal ultrasound is another area of focus since Radiologists are often inadequately trained in this area.

We have, for the first time in India, introduced programs such as Endovenous Ablation of varicose veins and prostate biopsy .

We urge Radiologists to learn and excel and hone further their skills obtained through training in ultrasound.

Sonography is a skill that has become relevant to clinicians and apart from obstetrics and gynecology it is also being used by clinicians in NICU, IPCU, ICU etc. These clinicians desire training in ultrasonography.

In USA and Europe, Orthopedic surgeons (pediatric hip), Pediatricians, Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Rheumatologists, Cardiologists, Emergency physicians, Intensivists, Pathologists etc. are being trained ( or self-trained) in ultrasonography.
Recognizing this need, the centre also offers clinicians educative orientation to the practice of ultrasonography relevant to their field of specialization. Thus we have sonography orientations designed for clinicians in the setting of OBGY, NICU, IPCU, Emergency Care and Critical Care.

The centre gets post-graduate doctors from all parts of India and is a premier centre for ultrasound teaching in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Note: It should be noted that all practice of ultrasonography in India is governed by the PCPNDT Act. Ultrasound programs offered by us are meant only for MCI-recognized post-graduates and are meant to disseminate knowledge, information, awareness and orientation in the art and science of ultrasound and do not constitute legal license or validity for the Practice of Ultrasonography
